How To Choose A Profile Picture

What kind of method do you go through to find a profile picture for a website (specifically a gay app)? I'm officially on Jack'd, but I've no idea what my pic should be. The guys on there have abs or smiles or frowns, some have professional pics, some are mirror shots...I just don't know anything. I signed up to be in the "strictly friends" scene. I look nothing like I used to look, so I have hardly any pics at all to use.
What do you guys do?

No duck lips, good body shot, smile but don't show your teeth. I tend to lift my brows up to accentuate my eyes. Not too high, like it's your first time seeing a camera and you are amazed at the technology.

Honestly, it doesn't really matter which angle you take or how you take it.

Start taking pictures of yourself on various poses with different backgrounds...or have a friend take them for you. Then select the best one out of the group as your online pic.

I know right! Though not matter how bad my pics looks, I refuse to succumb to editing any of my epicures with Photoshop or any editing software like my majority of my friends does. The editing just does not make you look natural in pics. (though some does)

^ why (or maybe how) would you want to look "natural" on a pic?? In real life do you remain motionless under everlasting light?
What I mean is whatever the pic it will only show one side/lighting/expression of you at a time, there is nothing natural about that ...

By natural I mean how you look usually. I have friends who have bad pimple problems in rl but in every picture that he/she has taken, they all magically disappear and they look nothing like their picture. Some have even edited their face a little. My photography lecturer still does not accept edited photos to this day.

I have no idea about the kind of friends you have on Jack'd and about the kind of gays you would like to meet over there, but I think its good to show your face. You have posted a very recent pic of yourself, so why not use this one? You look great and friendly on this pic, and this recent pic definitely tells something about you. Better be open, so people are immediately aware with whom they are talking.

Well, and you told us your looks have been recently changed quite a lot, so better have a very recent pic, so people are aware with they are talking with the October 2012 'Mr Brooding'.

Thank you! I uploaded that picture with my dog a few minutes after I took it, so maybe it is a good idea to use that one. It's VERY recent. I just don't have a lot of candids of me out and about since I've lost weight, gotten better skin, and changed my clothing choices. It was NEVER my intention to show anything that didn't include my face!
