This is exactly what we're talking about. You take a single opinion piece from a newspaper (which actually complains that psychology isn't scientific enough!) and you use that one opinion to try and deny an entire field of science!

I might suggest that you read the book, Jackoroe, but it's full of facts. It wouldn't appeal to you.

Psychology now is like astronomy before Galileo: they know they're looking at things, but are still developing the instruments to measure and analyze. So yes, it's a science; saying it isn't is foolish. It merely lacks the tools yet to quantify and measure and absorb data into patterns of predictability. But even so, it is incredibly useful and potent.

Microbiologists have a tendency to degrade anything that has anything to do with humans that wasn't done by other microbiologists, so a microbiologist's opinion is hardly one I'd turn to for an evaluation of psychology. In reality, the psychologist is struggling with a realm of complexity on a level that makes what a microbiologist does look like LEGOs.

The prejudice is in fact very similar to that of racism....

Micro has everything to do with the scientific method – particularly as it relates to research. OTOH, I know nothing of this particular microbiologist’s credentials that may qualify him to render an opinion about psychology. And FWIW, I personally regard psychology as a science.

Doesn't it get tiring having to tie ones self into such knots just to have beliefs? Isn't it just easier to say you agree with the racist agenda? No one here believes the defense of the behavior, and McCain would be ashamed if he read the tripe in this thread.

Okay so instead of starting a new thread in the spirit of Green Threading I have amended this thread with the following Atlantic Article.

I would love it if some of our right leaning posters who spring up here randomly or even the regulars would offer some sort of defense or resoning but it seems fairly accurate to me that the republican partty are not all racist but racist flock to the party and it is obvious why?

Since it is highly unlikely the party will win thru racism then what do you think needs to change? Is it impossible not to embrace the racist portion and get enough votes?

Take a look at this article and then tell me republicans arent courting the racist vote.

I suggest they take the author's advice:

Just stop associating with people who deliberately play on America's racial anxieties for profit! Given the contours of America's racial fault lines, doing so is always going to turn off blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and a lot of whites. Well, the time for a bigotocracy has definitely passed; unfortunately for them, without the bigots they have no course but to surrender both Congress and White House to the Democrats for three or more presidencies.
