25 years ago this week - Star Trek: The Next Generation premiere (has it been THAT long?)

    Memories, memories....

The pilot episode of the series, 'Encounter At Farpoint', first aired on American TV on September 28, 1987.

It took a further THREE years for the BBC to broadcast the show - I first saw it in late 1990 on Wednesdays at 6.00pm on BBC2 when I was 14 years old, but I remember it clear as day. I was completely obsessed with that show as a teenager.

^ Note the beardless Riker and the very young Wesley and, of course, Tasha Yar.

Can't believe (for me in U.K.) 22 years have passed since I saw it first.

    Clips from 'Encounter At Farpoint'.

Must have seen it over 10 times since. They repeated the episodes continually over and over on Sky One when we first got our satellite dish at Christmas 1992. It was all a key part of my teenage years.

The series impressed me with its special effects, but the stories were always a bit bland and extremely conformist.

Wesley Crusher was a hateful character, Mr. Data was stupid and don't get me started on Worf and his retarded toy-stealing child or on Whoopi Goldberg as Guinan.
