my notifications bar for the past few months has kept saying that i have 1 unread private message but i don't. I've numerous times tried deleting old messages to see if it goes away and it hasn't done anything. i just wanted to know what i could do to get rid of it.

Hello... i've fixed it for you. The very last message on page 4 of your notifications was the one that needed to be deleted. It was a blank message from 1970 that was the remnant of a system error.
If anyone else runs into this... just go to your messages and look for the oldest message which will say it was sent to you in 1970 and delete it.
