Yes.
This is what I did after trying, and failing, a few methods. One of these methods being that I couldn't go to Safe Mode via F8 after restarting.
I'm using a desktop with winXP OS, my network is via wireless adapter (those things I have to put into a slot inside my desktop) with an antenna attached to a cord.
I used my Kindle Fire to learn how to solve my ransomware problem because the more helpful sites were too big (size and bandwidth) for my physical keyboard smartphone.
1. Turned off my computer.
2. Detached my antenna connecting my wireless adapter.
3. Restarted fine, I don't have internet but at least I can do stuff on my computer.
4. Start > Run > msconfig > BOOT.INI (tab) > /SAFEBOOT (Checkbox) > Network (option) > Apply
5. When restarted and in safe mode, upated my Malwarebytes.
6. Once updated, scanned my computer.
7. I went back to normal mode after the scan, but I still kept my computer from being in a network or internet.
8. I went to System Restore and went to an older timeframe.
9. I did the Malwarebytes scan again.
10. I turned off my computer, reattached my wireless antenna connection, and it worked fine.
Thanks for your help. I just wound up restoring my PC to factory settings. Took a few hours but oh well.![]()

Yeah, luckily I learned a long time ago to use another account (over the Owner/Administrator one) when surfing the 'Net. This FBI ransomware even made it past Norton Symantec. I just went to the old reliable System Restore to a mere 20 minutes [checkpoint] prior to getting that FBI baloney and VIOLA! Everything is back to normal.
