You can certainly reduce risk (using condoms to prevent exchange of body fluids) etc but most sex has at least some risk of something.

I make a point of asking guys of their HIV status. Sometimes I ask about their general health as well. Listen to their answers and use your gut feeling. Most say they are healthy and negative. This should give you a peace of mind. I also usually check guys for any visible irregularities on their lips and penis, and ass as well. Sometimes it is hard to do when it is dark around, but I usually find a source of light, or decline to play when I am unsure of their health status. Declining when unsure is the hardest part. It is also hard to know how to play safe (that is having the self-discipline to play safe). It comes with practice.

As a rimmee, you are pretty safe. As a rimmer, there is a risk of mulitple bad GI infections like Shigella, Giardia, etc. Also, hepatitis.
