But you have to look at last night's episodes version of Lana differently then you did the episode before that. There was a 2 year period we didn't see...but as they showed us she gained a lot of fame in that time period which goes to peoples heads. And as her visions of Zachary Quinto and Clea Duval said all she ever wanted was fame (which is true...the only reason she went to Briarcliff was to get a big story to further her career).

Wow, so that was the worst fucking episode of the season.

- And the Alien storyline was absolutely pointless just like I had suspected. It was only thrown in for the sake of weirdness but it went nowhere, it wasn't explored at all. Just a stupid plot device to work in crazy elements into the overall narrative.

- Love how Grace and Alma were brought back just to die again.

- Love how Pepper just died off-screen, with no real explanation.

- What on earth is going on with the Angel of Death look-alike? Is it a figment of Jude's imagination? Huh? Do I even care? Not really.

- At this point, I guess Jude will just have a random death, too. Unless Kit frees her. And they run off together. Tbh, that would make me happy.

Ugh...last night...it was so uneven. I am not really liking the final moments of this story.....

It is strange because the writing on this show can be so damn good and then they drop the ball?????? Last week it was the Monsignor who completely changed his personality...this week it is Lana....

lol, It's so annoying.

This episode basically confirmed that Monsignor's 'spiritual growth' went absolutely nowhere despite him literally defeating the devil. In fact he became even more cruel by giving Jude hope with his promise to free her only to ditch her altogether to become Cardinal. Out of sight, out of mind I guess. His whole character arc was pointless, in retrospect.

And they've now also turned Lana's character into something unrecognizable. So much for consistency. All season, she was driven by her need to expose the institution that screwed her life over, she was also portrayed as someone with a passion for reporting/journalism. Lana is so resourceful and cunning, why couldn't she figure out a way to achieve the success she craves AND stick it to Briarcliff? IDGI.

Meh. She's obviously gonna get murdered by her crazy ass son. Bye Lana.

Or maybe Wendy and Dr Thredson's ghosts will haunt her to the point of insanity and she'll end up back in Briarcliff. lol

I'm pretty much bored with all the story lines. Unless everything will come out in the finale(even that will be a lot to take in), have we even heard why the aliens were so interested in Kit, besides Grace telling Alma they were interested in him because he's so open-minded or something like that?

The Monsignor is appointed Cardinal of New York and disappears? Angel of Death? I'd have preferred if her scenes were kept stunning and graceful like they all have been so far, until she came in and shanked a bitch.

Also confused by modern day Bloody Face. Did all of the scenes with him now happen before or after the season opener? Two modern day stories? Puzzled.

I'm sure there'll be a lot of loose ends in the finale. Not gonna like it.

Actually, I don't really have a problem with Kit in this regard. It's pretty consistent with how he was portrayed throughout the rest of the season-- a stand-up guy, kind, earnest, trusting, always wanting to do the right thing. So, imo, it makes sense that he tried to be there for both Alma and Grace via their unconventional family situation. He just wanted to get back to basics and be as normal as possible. Bless.

He was initially freaked out by the alien stuff but he seemed to have come to terms with it after he bravely agreed to do the near-death experiment with Dr Arden. He was desperate to see Alma then, no matter what, so it makes sense that he'd be happy to have her back from Alien-land and put all the weirdness aside. Same goes for his reaction when Grace came back from the dead. He was simly relieved and focused on the positive instead of the creepiness of it all.

C'mon, Ryan Murphy. Don't fuck it up.

But I will try to keep hope alive for Lana. Although if only 1 character will be left standing as reported, I'd rather it be Jude. But it would be nice to see Lana redeem herself.

Also, LMAO @ your whole view of Bloody Face 2. Honestly, I don't understand what that fuckery is about either. I just haven't been paying much attention to it, I guess. Dylan McDermott's performance is so distractingly bad in this role that that's all I focus on when he comes on the screen.

It also said that it is going to be lighter and more funny than this season. Personally I'm glad it will be a bit lighter because I can't handle them trying to upstage this season. As for the main plot I'm a bit unsure of it but am willing to give it a shot. I'm obviously glad that Lange, Peters, and Paulson will be back.

I think I had enough of the romance-horor stuff in S1 from Violet & Tate and Vivienne & Ben Harmon. Don't want another season with a similar theme so soon.

Also, although Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, and Sarah Paulson are returning I hope their roles are smaller than they are in this season. I want some new leads as the central characters to make things more interesting.

Morris Chestnut played that minor role as Luke The Security Guard in S1. And then there was Breast Milk Prostitute Lady played by Jill Marie Jones S2-- why did they waste her skills on such a shitty role? I don't get it. The "Spanish" family that moved in to the house in the S1 finale were played by Latinos for some reason. All minor roles.

That's about all I can remember. Other than that, PoC representation on the show has been lacking. But then, I think I read somewhere that horror is marketed to young white women so maybe that explains it. Perhaps, the show is very heavy on the white female protagonists/antagonists to appeal to that demographic.

My desire to have them in one of my fav shows is simply to enhance my viewing experience through the quality of their work.

I had some trepidations all season about all these vastly different storylines they've tried to interweave and I just gave it time thinking... maybe they'll really pull it all together somehow.

Hasn't really happened so far... in hindsight, the religion, alien & serial killer thing are just basically 3 separate storylines with little in common but the insane asylum.

Definitely not as well crafted as season 1. The saving grace is, the creator has said he feels ambivalent about season 2 and wants to do something more season 1-esque next season.

2's okay but I wouldn't run and tell people to pick up the show over season 2 like I did with season 1.

I don't like the direction the show has taken in the last episode. It seems too drawn out and unnecessary. Story makes zero sense now. I think it would have been fine if Asylum just ended when Lana escaped and gave the bird to Bloodyface. Although it would have been nice to see her get Jude out; I think she finally does that in the finale.

My best sis recently got into the show and she hated Grace as well. She sent me an elated text when Alma axed "Kit's jump off."

I didn't care for her either, but then again any female character on the show who wasn't played by Sarah Paulson, Jessica Lange or Jenna Dewan-Tatum may as well have been a prop.

Murphy: Yes. It’s sort of a Barbara Walters vs. Ted Bundy extravaganza in that finale. That is part of the finale, which is very unexpected, and there’s a lot of other things. I think the finale is my favorite episode we’ve ever done. It was directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon and written by Tim Minear. I think it’s even better than “I Am Anne Frank Part II”, which was previously my favorite. The whole thing is done almost as a documentary with Lana current day looking back on her life and doing a 60 Minutes-esque [interview]. That plays with like 10 different time periods. It was a very ambitious script and a very ambitious shoot and Alfonso knocked it out of the park as did Tim.

The season finale is crazy good. Everyone who has seen it has cried and that includes me and network executives. It’s very, very emotional and sad.

Okay.. So... Was the entire Asylum experience made up for her career? Is that what her little mini speech at the end right before she killed her Son was about, I have to rewatch but literally her last line before she pulls the trigger? Also, when she was being interviewed and she was talking about lies?

I don't think she meant the whole thing was a lie... just parts of it. Like the whole rescuing Jude thing. All the Lana scenes we saw before really did happen but when she wrote the book she added things which didn't really happen so it would sell better and she would have the whole hero image.

The finale was very satisfying but the tone of it didn't really fit in with the rest of the season which was relentlessly grim and brutal. It was too cheery, it felt like some kind of fantasy sequence. But I'm not complaining because the remaining characters all got happy endings or at least some closure-- even Bloody Face 2 in a way. Well, except for Monsignor who once again did a complete reversal and killed himself...Welp.

I know Lana redeemed herself big time but for me the highlight was seeing Kit and Jude together and happy raising those creepy little Alien babies who grew up to be geniuses. I was really rooting for them, and when you look back at Kit and Jude's character arcs, they really came a long way. Brb, reaching for my kleenex.

I had such low expectations for this finale but it was well done and tied things up nicely. It even made the pointless alien plot somehow magical by suggesting that they had a hand in healing Jude in the woods and taking Kit away to a better place. Good stuff.

Looks like you all enjoyed it, too. Yay.

The finale was ok, not incredible. Better than last week's episode. I just really did not care for the direction they took Lana after she escaped and basically made her a snobbish cunt; her character before was much too strong to ever let that happen. But they did a good job making her look like an old celebrity that had tons of cosmetic surgery and too much Botox; that was believable.

Well the way I see it she was just talking about the time when she was shutting down the asylum. That she was too late and did not rescue Jude.
