I'm on the island
The New York area would be such a logical place for a JUB meet.
What I can't figure out, is WHY aren't there so many JUB meets that, on some weekends, there are three or four competing meets in different locations (possibly not all in North America)? Most people I've talked to who have been to Meets have been very happy that they went, and enjoyed themselves thoroughly. Exceptions to that "rule" have been rare.
So, what happened to the cool idea of some of us getting together?
I would definitely try to get to a New York City [area/nearby/NJ/Conn.] meet.

I concur with frank...he's one I've had the pleasure to meet in several of the group meets plus twice individually while he was in my home area. Very nice guy, look forward to seeing him again when he comes back East and absolutely would love a group meet in the area. Hasn't really been one in awhile, since Portland in August of 2011 and it's a shame they seem to have stopped occuring though I know jubber friends do meet up individually. Great thing to help jubbers get closer together and enjoy the various locations and getting to know each other some more. Live in Jersey City and we have the Manhattan skyline to thankfully appreciate every day....what magnificence..and are a growing city in our own right, with a surprisingly developing skyline and a couple of dozen more buildings ranging from 400 ft to 1,000 ft being planned over the next few years. Maybe in the spring I can do tours of our downtown area and we can certainly go into Manhattan too.... nothing rigidly planned but a free form kind of meet in late April or so. Five or six people ,something like that, may be ideal.... a couple of times next year I'm willing to host something like that if my schedule permits.

Wow, possibly a couple of times per year? That really WOULD be so cool. I'll repeat a premise in my other post, though - it really surprises me that so few people go to these, and that there are so few of them, though I can think of only *ONE* meet (out of the six I went to) where I am aware that anybody at all regretted having gone! That's a pretty good track record, out of a total of perhaps 80 in attendance between the six meets.
I encourage this vision of occasional JUB meets in the NY area, even if I can't get to some or most of them. It sounds like a winner.
But this entire Forum is rather hidden...it doesn't come up on the Forums drop down menu. How many people see these threads? If something concrete is set up, I hope you'd be allowed to post in Hot Topics or something, where more would see it.

They moved the Meet notices for a reason here so it probably wouldn't be allowed in Hot Topics. I can't even swear it will happen but I'd really like to try this. Nothing too planned at all...free form where I'll make suggestions and others can do the same on the places they'd like to see. I could try a notice as a siggie if I really think it can get done and have it linked maybe here if someone can help me with that.
I too really think it's a wonderful idea to have New York area meets and basing it here in the Jersey City waterfront area and then going into Manhattan it definitely would be somewhat easier on the wallet, especially hotel arrangements for outsiders. New Jersey/ New York area Jubbers are absolutely encouraged and welcome but I'm really looking forward to how many outside the area can make it so there may be two at least for convenience's sake....one say in late April and a mid September one.

I am visiting NYC next week and wondering if anybody knows about Boxers NYC Sport Bar? I was recommended by somebody that it is worth checking out.
