man, i think it's very annoying to find all this superficiality, vanity and dumb shit where everyone is basically pushing everything about themselves with their face, their body, their clothes and basically how "good" they can look. it's ridiculous. at the end of the day, it's not all about your face and how you look. in fact, if someone has to go to that level, it's suggesting that something isn't right and they're using their looks to make up for something they're lacking. maybe a personality, maybe they're crazy, maybe something is up with them. in fact, if someone only likes you because you look good, you should question their motives because chances are they probably don't give a fuck about you.

with that said, i don't think it's also good to not care about your appearance either to the point where you tattoo your whole face up, stop with this body modification shit too and basically not give a fuck about yourself too. in some cases, how you look is also reflection of how you treat yourself or if there's something up with you too. just like it's said that people that have an excessive amount of tattoos where their whole body is tatted up may be trying to cover up past childhood traumas such as abuse or being too thin or being too fat may be someone with an eating disorder. it can also determine whether you're able to get a date because nobody wants to date someone that is a bum or if you get a job depending on how you market yourself such as presenting yourself like a worthy candidate for a job. there has to be a balance. you can't give too much and give little care about how you look.

but i have to say that today's society really cares way too much about how someone outer appearance to the point where people are dying over it. at some point, you have to say fuck it. you cannot worry about looking photogenic for every picture or look handsome every moment you step out the door and shit. you will go crazy over that. the real you is going to come out and your looks aren't really going to matter. you can still ugly even if you're attractive. as long as someone is content with how they look, i don't think it's an issue as long as it's not a sign that they need help or if it's something that's hurting them.

I'm sure someone has already said it, but I'll reiterate it. Attraction is different for everyone. While some people people believe there is a universal idea of beauty, there really isn't. For instance, I think large, crooked noses and big ears are some of the sexiest things a man can have in a purely superficial way. And although I would never get a tattoo or a piercing other than my earlobe, I think some piercings and creative tattoos are super attractive...I'm an artist obviously
Quite honestly, I find it more attractive for someone to do as they please and express themselves fully rather than to succumb to societal standards just to find a man. My situation has never benefited or hindered my love life, however I have been told that I should go out and get a tattoo or piercing. It is not my style so I won't, but unless it is butt ugly and stupid I don't have any right to judge other people on how they want to decorate their body.

By butt ugly and stupid, I am talking about things like bad tattoo art (amateur probably or cheap) with subjects such as girlfriend names, boyfriend names, silly catchphrases etc in places that they will regret.

edit; and I won't get a tattoo because I am a typical Libra personality when it comes to making choices. And guaranteed 100% I would regret a choice I make, then I am stuck with it. Piercing is more acceptable, however none of the jobs I have or apply for allow piercings.

My boyfriend has several tattoos, and a piercing in both ears. he used to have eyebrow and labret as well, but removed them when he worked at Ferrerro. I agree...I am a nurse and I have seen many many old people botched up with tats...look terrible! Think ahead people, with age your skin is going to wrinkle and sag . I have seen a lot of tats on older people that are just patches of blurred ink. The worst of all are the people who have face tats,just imagine yourself at 60 years of age or older...Like I say think ahead.

I saw Kat Von D at her photoshoot when she used make up to cover all tattoos. I posted the photos of her and that helped talk him out of getting a tattoo. I like to think I had some influence on his decision because she looks good without tattoo (which are covered in the after photo)

This seems to be the resurrection of an old, old thread: tattoos - for or against? As far as I'm concerned, people can do what they like to or with their bodies. I happen to think that some tattoos look good on some people, and others look awful, and do you know what? - my opinion isn't worth shit. It's just what I think.

I happen not be tattooed or pierced anywhere (but I am circumcised). Somebody on these forums once said that the difference with tattooed people and un-tattooed people was that the tattooed people didn't care whether anybody else had tattoos or not.

I personally find Tattoo art fascinating. It's also very difficult since it's drawing on someone's skin (and can't undone it). Granted I am fine with small tattoos like a small cross or a circle is fine. But when it takes up half of the body it get's really distracting.

To each their own. There's good tat and bad ones. The best advice I heard was if someone wants a tat, pick a design and put it somewhere where you're going to see it every day, over and over. If you still like it after 6 months or so then you might have something you want on your body. Then go find a good tattoo artist.

People go way overboard with tattoos these days, I know so many young people who get the who get "the ink itch" on such a regular basis they tend to throw on any kind of tattoo. All you see on facebook "Itching for new Ink" and a few hours later they get a new tattoo. I know one girl who gauged out her ears now shes almost done College and guess what she has to get her ears fixed if she wants to be taken seriously for a job. I'm all for expressing your self but people need to learn how to do it in a moderation rather then getting everyone and their baby momma tattooed on your body. It may be fine for now but what about 20 years from now? and that Band that you were in at 20 is long gone and you don't talk to the members anymore? or that group you and your friends made up and you got the letters tattooed all over your body? Honestly i think god everyday i didn't made a stupid choice and get ink all over my body.

I just think a majority of people get tattoos just to look cool and try to fit in i don't think much people put any effort or time into getting tattoos. I always see people with the same tattoos or people who tattoos look like they got it done by a blind person. I know a few 16 year old kids and they have tattoos i feel bad for them because they are ugly.

I remember considering it but the idea never appealed to me even though many of my friends in high school were doing it as if it was almost a rite of passage into being cool and grown up. Some of the tats they got were hideous and of the most ridiculous things. Personally, I was only a bit interested in piercings in my mid-teens but my mother forbade it, thank goodness, because my tastes changed. Still, I got a tragus piercing without her knowledge in high school one time, some bacteria got trapped inside the cartilage and I had to go on heavy antibiotics because the doctor said the infection could travel to my brain. Still, all of that shit was reversible. Tattoos, not as easy to get rid of.

I know three people who have their entire bodies tattooed...two guys and one girl...and all three of them are extraordinarily interesting and creative (and very intelligent) people.
