This is just to inform you that my beloved Ryan (Kristoff) passed away at the end of July. Sorry this has taken so long, but this has been a tough time for me, as you can imagine.

He'd only been a member of J.U.B. for six or seven months, but it became a very special place for him. As he was agoraphobic and sociophobic our home was his entire world, but interacting with the people on these forums made his world a bigger and more interesting place. Ryan was not a member for very long, but he was always talking about the members and their comments, both wise and witty. At least they'll know that he didn't just up and leave without any reason or goodbye.

He had suffered from chronic depression for many years, and died from an overdose. He was fifty-five. I just thank God for the 20+ years that we spent together.

And more importantly, I just wanted someone to know that, just by being here, and whether you realise it or not, this forum does make a huge difference in some people's lives, and I wanted to say thankyou. I wish everyone at J.U.B. all the best for the future.

I may return to J.U.B. at some time in the future, but everything is still too raw at the moment. I hope you understand.

It's very sad when someone passes. But I think it gives us a better perspective of JUB. We really are a community of people who do care about one another. None of us ever met Ryan or Vincent, but we all genuinely feel the loss to our community.

I hope someone let Golliwog know since he started a thread about him just last evening.

This kind of loss should be a reminder to all of us that internet relationships have real meaning to many people. For some it may be the only human contact they have.

This sad news fairly takes my breath away. I knew intuitively that something was wrong, and, incredibly, inquired of the JUB family just yesterday for any news of Ryan.

Please get in touch with me when you feel like it. I would love to share with you some wonderful things he wrote about you.

My heart cries at the enormity of this loss. I thought today of Wordsworth's Lucy: "She lived alone and few could know when Lucy ceased to be. But she is in her grave, and oh, the difference to me."

I will always remember and treasure the few months of my friendship with Ryan.

I honestly just read this thread and I have tears in my eyes. Not so much for the death of Ryan, which is sad on its own, but knowing that people here impacted his life. I have had expriences with friends who suffer with deep depression. I am proud to know that we might have made his days just a little bit brighter!

I'm sorry to hear this. And I send my love and thoughts along with everyone elses in here to you Vincent. I'm glad that JUB and some of JUBBERs had a positive impact Kristoff, and that he was able to gain moments of pleasure and happiness being amongst those who occupy space on this board.

When I read the inital announcement my first thought was of our other Jubbers who have moved across to heaven this year. I'm sure they were there to meet him and give him love.

NO words can make a difference to you at this time; but DO understand that we at JUB feel the loss of a member with almost the same intensity as you!

Please, "IF" at a future date you could share the problems Kristoff had with depression with his fellow JUBBERS, I "DO" believe it could/may help others who also suffer such a debilatating effect on their lives.... ????
