Not really....but Anchorage would be a good bet to escape the heat. Almost no chance of heat there.

I agree. I like all kinds of weather. Nothing better than a cloudy, rainy day periodically.

Actually, if only the 90+ degree F days are what one is trying to escape and you're OK with 80s, one of the best places to go in the summer to escape the 90+ stuff is...HAWAII!! I know, that sounds ridiculous, but most of the islands usually don't go into the Nineties in the summer...

However, it is ALSO guaranteed that the weather will not be "cool." Just avoid the area on the Big Island near the volcano, because a fair amount of that area is actually a DESERT-like microclimate...possibly even affected by the general lack of vegetation itself?

I don't know quite enough about climate to know if lacking vegetation will tend to make a place hotter and/or drier. Is there anything in the deforested areas of the Amazon which indicate one way or another? I do know that around here, once the corn reaches the first stages of full development around this time of summer, the humidity increases quite a bit, and it's been partly attributed to transpiration of water vapor from the corn itself.

    Good news, everyone!

Remember the polar vortex? You know, that blast of Artic air that turned the United States into a freezer last winter? Well, it's back baby! Forecasters are actually predicting sudden drops in tempatures to comfortable levels because of the polar vortex!!!

Yeah, suck it Europe. Especially you Belgium. You think you can just beat the awesome USA at the World Cup with no consequences? Enjoy your heatwave, waffle-eaters.

I prefer spring and autumn (fall) to summer and winter, for the simple reason that I do not like being overly hot or overly cold.

    I don't think they've ever broken 90 F.

"Thirty-one* states allow all qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons. In those states, homosexuals should embark on organized efforts to become comfortable with guns, learn to use them safely and carry them. They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. "

Not sure if Sitka has, either - but I also believe it's one of the Alaskan towns which has never dropped below 0 degrees F. Perhaps Ketchikan as well (where, the only time I ever visited, the sky was completely CLEAR, which is rare there).

Barrow certainly hasn't. I don't even think it ever hit 70f there...
