Good news everyone!! "The Mindy Project," a new comedy series starring Mindy Kaling was just picked up by Fox. It will air on network television this fall.
Mindy Kaling previously played Kelly Kapoor on "The Office".

In "The Mindy Project" she plays an OB/GYN doctor in New York City, and covers her life in the hospital and crazy personal life.
Ohh.......and one of the guys who plays one of the male doctors is SOO HOTT
Indian-Americans (Americans whose ethnic heritage is from India, or South Asia) is the ethnic group least represented in the entertainment industry...
It's great to see a fellow Desi making her mark in Hollywood!!
Go Mindy!!!
The trailer is hilarious!

OMG..........why isn't anyone commenting on my thread
When I talk about my political views, everyone jumps on me...
But when I try to be nice and friendly, nobody pays attention
Anyways, isn't Mindy Kaling really funny??

I honestly don't think anyone is interested in this show. Just another one season wonder I think.

Why wouldn't they be interested?
Because the main character is an Indian-American woman?
Are you racist against Indians? Do you have any Indian friends? (as in India, not the native Americans)

Um... where did I say I was racist against Indians? Where did you get that from?
I judge a show based on its content and this appears to be of little interest for me.
I'm not interested in this format of a show. It has nothing to do with the main person in it.

I'm surprised she is the one from The Office to get the "Own show" treatment.
I find characters like Angela and Jim much more entertaining. Angela especially, her dwindling patience and dexterity is pure hilariousness as she weaves in and out of life with the rest of the characters.

I will definitely tune in to watch this! It looks so adorable and funny.
Plus, I am happy to support women of color in lead roles. We need representation, too. ^_^

I like the show. Funny, fast-paced and Mindy's delivery is very Tina Fey-esque.

South Asian actors are the TV minority of Y2K. IMHO, I think there are more South Asians on TV than those of Chinese, Japanese and Korean descent combined. "The Big Bang Theory", "The Good Wife", "Community", "True Blood", "Parks And Recreation", "Covert Affairs", "Anger Management", "Smash", "30 Rock", "Nurse Jackie", "Royal Pains", "New Girl", "Switched At Birth", "90210", "The New Normal", "The Newsroom", among several other shows featured SA actors in regular roles. (That doesn't include all the one episode appearances) It's a good time to be South Asian in Hollywood.
@thatgirl - good to see you still posting here. Haven't seen you on the CF thread so I figured you moved on.

I watched the premiere and it wasn't that good.

Huh? What a misleading thing to say. Indian-Americans are Americans with origins in India, not any South Asian country. Other Americans with origin from other South Asian countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh definitely aren't "Indian-American".

Watched the first 2 episodes...don't love it. Love Mindy...don't love this show.
Also I HATE the British doctor...I know he's actually British, but his shitty acting makes his accent seem totally put on and over the top.

Thought Chris Messina was a pretty good dancer...or was that a body double (at times)?

Heya. Nice to see you around, too. I moved on from that section of JUB a while back. Just not interested anymore. But I still check in to Hot Topics and Entertainment.

I think it was all him. It looked really convincing. And kinda sexy. lol
It was the strongest episode yet. It's getting progessively better since the pilot as we get to learn more about the other characters-- most of them are quite endearing. Also, there were basically no laugh out loud moments in the pilot but eps 2 & 3 definitely improved on that front.
Love Ike Barinholtz as the wacky nurse. Too funny.
