    Kate Bush

Who from here is familiar with her or are into her work, I know she's not very well knows outside europe.

I think the woman is brilliant and she is my all-time favorite artist and it would be nice to have someone to talk about her.

Currently re-obssesed with "50 words for Snow" and "Never for Ever".

Big fan myself, but I've yet to hear her latest album. I need to rectify that.

Absolutely love the albums "The Dreaming" and "Never for Ever", and the singles "This Woman's Work" and "The Sensual World" move me to my core. Outstandingly creative (and ground-breaking at times) music, especially her third, fourth and fifth albums.

If you haven't seen it yet, here's her RYM page. The album/single titles in bold are recommended -- based on an algorithm formulated by the site's founder -- and the depth of her discography is well-documented there. She may not be popular everywhere, but she has hardcore fans galore.

    HUGE Fan here!!

I think I own just about everything she has done. It always amazes me when I hear or encounter people who do not know her music. I especially LOVE 'Aerial' the CD she did after a few years she took off to raise her family. Really haunting stuff. Whenever I am quietly working at home I always listen to it while do what needs to get done.

Of course the classic would be 'Hounds of Love' and another favorite is 'The Sensual World'. Brillant stuff!!

Great musician, singer, songwriter and producer. '50 Words For Snow' is great; the best album from 2011, definitely; I love it. 'Hounds Of Love' is almost perfect too. I think it's great that she's so committed to every single aspect of her work, as should be the case with every artist. She should be considered one the greatest living songwriters for 'Wuthering Heights' alone.

I love her but if you see my username that might be obvious.

I haven't gotten around to hearing 50 Words for Snow yet but I did hear Director's Cut and didn't care for it. Her middle period (i.e. The Dreaming, Hounds of Love and The Sensual World) is my favorite, so I have to admit that the material after hasn't had the same impact on me, although Aerial is good and about half of the Red Shoes is great.

I use to LOVE Kate Bush. I have not listened to her last 2 albums, but liked her earlier stuff. Not sure why I don't listen to her anymore....maybe my tastes have just changed. I will have to hunt down old CDs I have of her, and listen to them again......

"50 words for snow" is amazing, "Aerial" too
    "Director's Cut" not so much

My fave tracks from "50 words for snow"are:

    "Misty", is loooooong
"50 words for snow", is funky
"Snowed at wheeler street", is touching

But the entire album is amazing.

I haven't listened to Kate Bush for ages. In fact, I didn't realise that she was still performing.

I think she first came to attention with this:

    LOL It's true

But she looks exactly how I pictured her to look at this age.

Yes. When I hear Kate Bush, I hear 'Wuthering Heights'.
For all sad words of tongue and pen,
The saddest are these, 'It might have been.'

I'm listening to 50 Words for Snow for the first time. It's alright, I guess. I guess the thing with Aerial and now 50 Words for Snow is that they're not immediately striking on the first listen like The Dreaming or Hounds of Love were. They more have to seep in after a lot of listens. I do like it more than Director's Cut, though:

    10. Director's Cut
    09. The Red Shoes
    08. 50 Words for Snow
    07. Aerial
    06. Lionheart
    05. Never for Ever
    04. The Kick Inside
    03. The Dreaming
    02. Hounds of Love
    01. The Sensual World

Eh, I think she looks fine. The thing is that seeing full-body Kate after the Red Shoes has been very rare, as she's not made too many public appearances and wasn't in the video for "Deeper Understanding." But it was noticeable even back during Aerial in the video for "King of the Mountain" video (despite it focusing more on her face and upper body) that she was no longer the waif-thin woman that she used to be. I think this is a recent picture since it was used in a 2012 article about the Brit Awards:

She's full-figured now but I wouldn't call her unhealthy, maybe that was just an unflattering choice of clothes at the award show.

Kate is the real deal. The Hounds of Love is one of my favorite albums, ever.

I've heard good things about Aerials and 50 Words For Snow, so i'll look for them on Amazon.

I think that is what makes Her new music more interesting - that it has matured and has become more intellectual. She certainly is a constant evolving artist.

Eh, I thought the content of her earlier albums was more thought-provoking than an entire suite of songs based around bird calls or her singing the numbers of pi and having some other dude reciting fifty mostly-made up phrases for snow. Granted those are some of the sillier examples from Aerial and 50 Words, but she consistently delivered songs like "The Kick Inside," "Kashka from Baghdad," "Breathing," and "Deeper Understanding" that had subject matter that were ahead of their time, really -- nobody in 1980 was singing about gay couples and she also basically predicted computer/internet addiction in 1989 before it had become a widespread reality.

I just found the "Running Up That Hill" remix she made for the Olympics, I should watch Tv more often.
    She made few changes.

I think is even better than the original.

    Re: Kate Bush

Thanks for posting that remix! I've always loved Running Up That Hill ever since it debuted in 1985. So haunting and tribal.

I love this song too. No wonder she and Peter Gabriel recorded a duet. They have some thematic and stylistic commonalities.
