I have the video Where the Wild Things Are, and find it hilarious. I didn't know of the author of the book til today and it is this interview by Colbert. Ya gotta watch it. This old man is unique. I wish I'd had know about him before this. Colbert does his routine. Of course, I don't know how to post Colberts videos.

RIP Children's Author Maurice Sendak: Watch His Hilarious Interview on Colbert

We at AlterNet were so saddened this morning by the news of the death of Maurice Sendak, beloved children's author of such books as "Chicken Soup With Rice" and "Where the Wild Things Are." I know I'm just one of many staffers who grew up on a reading diet of Sendak books.

Just this year, Sendak showed up on Stephen Colbert's show to give the host some advice on breaking into the children's book market. Colbert would be off to a good startin the industry, "because you're an idiot" said Sendak, who was hilariously profane, irreverent, crotchety and clearly brilliant in the appearance.
