Anyways, back to the prices... it's $3.59 right now... holding steady.
I saw an article that said California is leading the way on something that could replace 8% of our imported oil needs: roofing parking lots and parking structures with solar. The number seems high to me -- but we do have an awful lot of area devoted to parking; I know that one of the universities here did a study and concluded they could provide almost half their own electricity if they roofed all the parking areas with solar -- student parking, faculty and staff, street parking, and (the big one) stadium parking. That's a big number of acres which presently does nothing but wait for tires to occupy some of it.

There would be a bonus psychological effect: people everywhere wouldn't have to worry about being rained on as they get in and out of their cars....

True that more like the asshole of earth... couple that with the soon to be rising water levels and it will be little more than an overcrowded New Orleans without the good parts like Jazz, chicory coffee and beignets.

Geography made NYC what it is and now that same 'location, location, location' is going to strip it of glory. Especially when they fail to act. I will take the Rockies and cheap gas over congestion and crowding any day of the week.

Although i did pay steep city prices today. $2.94! lol

Just did the cyphering... that works out to $3.78 a US gallon. Not too bad. Last time I was in Winnipeg gasoline at the Pembina Highway Domo was $1.04 / litre or $3.93 a gallon.

I've probably been overestimating the rise of gasoline price in the world.

The taxation has increased a lot here. Gasoline is 100% more expensive than it was in 2007. I'm gonna assume the world price has not increased that much.

    Back up to 3.19 here...

The last two tanks I filled were at the low point in the prices (2.91 and 3.09 respectively). I don't always "guess" that well, but I seem to guess toward the tendency for lower points in the fluctuations.

Jack Springer. You have often used this thread to bash Kansas. Today I paid 3.16 for gas buy while I was using that gas driving from work to school I heard a rather remarkable story about the quality of character in a Mizzou fan of the great state of Missouri.

In the 'not to be named' college town a bar called Black and Gold will celebrate the massacre of around 200 Kansans on the anniversary of the massacre. they even plan on bringing a busload of Black and gold clad folks to Lawrence in a bus. That cant be viewed poorly right? Celebrating the massacre of people? There were attrocities on both sides but only Missouri is talking about having a party to celebrate death. How fucking sick.

On another note: I went to get some coffee this morning and parked next to a SUV with a bumper sticker that made me laugh my ass offf........ "KANSAS - As Bigoted as you Think" -- I seriously wish I had my phone to take a pic.... it was priceless.

In fall 2008, in the city limits of Los Angeles, on the same day, I saw a spread of exactly $1.00 in price. I don't remember what the prices were (I think perhaps 389nine and 489nine.) I never saw such a spread before or since.

Gas is now 347nine here, up 38 cents since I filled up at the beginning of the month.

Gas was 3.22 today.... rising before my eyes. I swear it may just be my imagination but I think gas rises every time it gets balls ass cold. I imagine no one looking at the price as they freeze their nuts off pumping that overpriced shit into the tank... they just wanna start burning it again for the accompanying heat.

JH -- One town in Kansas was burned to the ground by some crazy people and many people lost their lives.

Almost 3 counties in Missouri were burned to the ground, women raped, children killed, property stolen by Jayhawkers and the Union Army. Google 'Order No. 11'

Frankly, I'm not a fan of KU or Mizzou sports. There is a separation now that MU has joined the SEC -- Missouri left a dying conference.

As a newbie to the region, I don't think you understand the long standing tensions between the two states -- most don't. Without knowing the history of the region and just reading the article that did not go into the history I could see how you would be uninformed.

Once you realize that many more men, women, and children were killed and more raids were conducted on the Missouri side by the Jayhawks, you will better understand local history.

Kansas continues to rob business from the Missouri side by offering no taxes, free buildings, and other incentives. Very little original business is created on that side of the state line. You do not steal from your neighbor.

You may be interested to know that the area where you live was designed by real estate developers in such a way that it would keep the undesirables (black people) out of your county.

Having a party about the murders? pretty sick, but so is the continued use of the name Jayhawk for KU's sports teams.

BTW: I noticed gas was $3.39 this afternoon. What is going on?

I knew you would respond that way...which is why I posted it. So all of the fucking two hundred year old history bullshit aside you are saying it is OKIE DOKIE to celebrate the massacre of 200 men and boys? Because that is the same type of insanity that defines many of the regional battles in countries blighted by radical Islamist. SO what I wonder is if Missourians are that depraved are they just too cowardly to actually do something about it like the brave radical Islamist?

I dunno they have been discussing in a few places... the market took a dive and NOTHING has changed so gas should be dropping. I imagine the only event that would trigger potential petroleum disruption would be Israel bombing Syria against Iranian warnings that attacking Syria is attacking Iran. So hopefully that quiets down soon and the declining market due to republican cuts in spending will result in cheaper gas once again. me for one would rather the economy and gas price go up...... but that's just me.

The gas price increased 17 cents over night here.... very ODD and very glad I filled up yesterday.

You didn't read all of what I said. I think it's stupid to celebrate something like this -- even the city of Lawrence is planning a celebration -- what kind of crazy shit is that?

    Today it's 359nine.

That's up **FIFTY CENTS** in less than three weeks. (I filled up at 309nine at the beginning of the year, but the price stayed at 309nine for quite a few days afterward.)

Up TWENTY CENTS since yesterday. WTF?

I saw it was 3.29 just up the road on my back home yesterday... up .10 since I last filled up on Wednesday. Lowest I have seen it was 2.98 back in Nov/or/Dec, thought I was seeing things at first because I haven't seen gas under 3.00 for a long time, didn't last very long but enjoyed my "cheap" gas while it lasted.
I may be bad, but I'm perfectly good at it.

Re: Reality Check: How are gasoline prices in your area?

Jack I know you wanted to use that moment to explain yourself to plenty of folks who may not know BUT you are well aware that I know the history of JayHawk and the area since you demanded action when i chose the name. We had quite a long discussion and determined if it was good for a sports team then it is PC enough for JUB. By the way long before I ever arrived in the region of the illgotten land and bloody panties I had the name jayhawk... life is weird that way.

As far as you decrying either side doing it??? You do not say that in either post. You simply say you don't care for the sports of your region then give Mizzou a compliment for having their asses handed to them constantly or as you put it leaving a dying conference. You know what team was ready for the SEC? The Aggies. Oh and your team (but now you wont claim them cuz their losers) yet your team will be another Vandy or Vols... just a buy game for the real teams in the SEC... meh...

What I was really looking for was you to actually condemn instead of make excuses. That death was a long, long time ago. However a Mizzou person throwing a party for the death of 200 seems rather sickening. KU decided to have an event in Lawrence that weekend AFTER the Mizzou announcement -- saying they would be happy to show the Missouri players interesting things like indoor plumbing. In other words their response was to mock Missouri not celebrate the massacre of people.

Finally, I just wanted to get your feel of things since you constantly make weird representations about Missouri. Such as the keep the blacks out comment. You say that as if Overland Park was built specifically for that. But you full of shit. Mission and Roeland park and those areas closer to the city were built for whites and excluded Jews and Blacks. That was before the civil rights act and before the breaking down of those barriers. But of course you represent it as some sort of revelation that that occurred specifically in my region and not across the WHOLE of America mostly in the racist and unproductive south.....

Finally, what I find most amazing is that you praise Texas for being a job creator but what it has done is remove all taxes paid by both workers and most business tax to draw business from other states. You praise that effort because it is worthwhile republicanism. Yet because your own welfare state is losing jobs to high taxes you piss and moan that Kansas is doing the exact same thing you praise Texas about. It is laughable. ANYways my new puppy was just doing her business outside and it made me think of your response.

BTW to stay somewhat in the general galaxy of the topic let me throw out that I do love buying gas in Missouri. They don't collect enough taxes on the fuel like Kansas. I know my federal taxes will go to the welfare state of Missouri so I figure I might as well enjoy their federal government socialized gas prices. 3.27 yesterday morning.... hugs and kisses.

    Cheers.

    Random puppy pic...

Was in the Western suburbs Monday (2/4) and paid $.25 less than around my place. The further East you go, the higher the price. I'm sure there must be an existential reason for this.

Amazing ... during the Bush years all the lib's on here would be blaming Bush and Cheney .... and yet ...... nothing.

Wait till next year when your health care plan has been dropped by your employer and you can't afford gas for your car. It's going to rough.

I'd laugh .. but I'll be in the same situation.
