It's not a big deal to me, but I have noticed that I am not getting emails saying there are new posts in threads I have posted in. Also when I do come to the site about half of the time it is like the fourm has been marked as read.
I couldn't get my mind off you all day.

I'm really liking the new feature of being able to leave public messages on other Jubbers profiles. I hope you're going to keep this !

OK, guys: you asked for it, you got it, Toyota....
Anyway, I have the details of the "slow script" bug. I find it extremely annoying when it does occur.
At the moment, I am using Firefox on Ubuntu Linux. Here's the exact wording of the "bug".
(slow script...etc..):
https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/lib....query.min.js: 3
^Arggh! It autofilled for me. Shall I try again?
h ttps://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/lib.query.min.js: 3
^(no space there, of course)
The slow script issue is driving me crazy. I get on every new page loaded. I don't know whether to say yes or no to it.
Johann,
I get a Google 404 error on that.
Maybe a screen shot when it happens, paste into Paint, crop, then save and post that?
Just a thought.
And I know, if I'll only be true, to this glorious quest . . .
I am actually finding it much faster than before - and I note another person from my part of the world has said the same. I wonder if location has anything to do with changes in response time? Seems strange - but the other Mods will confirm that I was complaining fairly regularly a few months ago that this site, on quite regular occasions, would become impossibly slow (ie, sometimes minutes to load a single page - and trying to load several tabs at once would just result in everything timing out).
Everytime I go to a new page - I get the box at the bottom of the screen that reads - jUSTuSbOYS IS RUNNING A LONG SCRIPT AND YOU HAVE TO PUSH THE STOP SCRIPT BUTTON BEFORE YOU CAN SCROLL THE REST OF THE PAGE!!
Supernaturally Charmed One!!!
This forum is much more cahotic than ever beforeThe old embeds don't work anymoreand the writings on threads so small cause a lot of confusionThe old-shaped forum was much better. Now it's nothing but a huge chaosI noticed this, too - and didn't get where it came from because I thought it was a new post. When it is an old post that shows up like that, NOW - this is because of the OLD plugin that we can't use anymore. I'm not sure if there is a way to convert this. I saw an option to parse all posts with the new plugin .. but you can all imagine why this is a very bad idea
It tells me I have no comments on my blogs, which I know is not true. I loved the comments.
Everyone wants to be heard. No one wants to listen.
I think the issue is not with the site being slow, it's actually faster. It's more the new design associated with the newer versions of vBulletin. It's AWFUL. I do some web design part time and uh, the classic look was much nicer. Maybe there is a vBulletin theme that brings it back to the classic look on the new version or something?
DP.
Not necessarily. It might also be some browser addon/toolbar or basically anything else. But so far, despite me requesting it multiple times - hardly anybody complaining offered more details. Such as browser and plugins versions. I know, that actually would require work .. and just complaining is so much easier![]()

What more do you need to know, Corny? It was great before, and it sucks now, so change it back.

Inserting photoes is very cahotic.
Another thing I don't understand is why users cannot modify their own posts.
You should trust your user, in the end it's us filling threads with comments, news, video, and what.
So everyone should be allowed to modify his ownold posts and i.g. erase no more active links
My impression was that the internet is a series of tubes filled with cats.
Seeing as cats like cooler weather so they can burrow under blankets, they are migrating to Australia and bringing their information carrying abilities with them, giving us faster internet.
100% true... they actually carry the 1's and 0's using static that they generate with their fur.

Search results no longer show the forum along with the thread title. While it's often obvious without it, I found the forum info helpful.
I mean searching for posts by a JUB member (and some others I don't remember now).

I've also been encouraging people to do the same.
Look, the thing is guys, we occassionally have this problem in some of the larger image threads where a hot-link that someone has used creates an unresponsive script. Once we know about it, we can remove the link and 'hey presto' the problem is sorted.
Now, I'm not saying that the current issue is down to something as simple as that, BUT, if the tech guys don't know what browser and plugins you're using, or where you were/what you were doing on JUB when it happened it becomes virtually impossible to work out whether it's a site issue or a particular plug-in issue etc.
It's a bit like going to the doctors and complaining about a pain you want treating, but omitting the bit about where the pain is.
There are numerous things to try such as disabling all add-ons and plug-ins and gradually enabling them one by one to find a possible culprit. You could see the relevant help pages for your browser.

It's easy to assume it's the site that has the issue, but lets not forget that many members are having no issues with this. The only way that the tech guys can be certain what the cause is, is by some input from everyone who's having a problem.![]()

SLOW/UNRESPONSIVE SCRIPT ISSUE
Look, the thing is guys, many people are complaining about this, but few are actually helping the tech guys to sort it. I seem to be getting automatically signed out if I spend too long on a page (e.g. typing out a long post) because when I hit 'Post Reply' I get a message saying I am not permitted to post and requesting me to sign in. The problem is that once I go and sign in, it then wipes whatever long post in the reply box I was trying to post.
Fortunately, I suspected that this might happen, and I highlighted and copied CRTL+C the text of my post before signing back in, so then I was able to reply by pasting CTRL+V my text back without losing it, but the point is that some JUBbers who don't know this could find that a huge amount of their time is wasted and posts deleted by this automatic sign-out issue. Are others having the same problem I am?
EDIT:
On a seperate issue, it will probably surprise the mods that I can declare that I have NO script problems or issues AT ALL and that everything in my system is working fine and at good speed.![]()

just did that. also the comments are now in the "quick links" again - together with "my posts" and "my threads" (new).
image posting in group replies should work now, too.
if you are having log in problems, try clearing your cookies.
oh and i won't reply to the "this is all shit" toned replies any more. all of you actually helpful guys are still welcome
one more thing about the unresponsive script issue: please ALWAYS post your browser and browser version AND a link to the thread were it occured.

Hi... not sure where that is coming from exactly, but definitly not the case. We have copies of all the photos and will be restoring them. You can upload photos now and link to them. It should be no problem. What we are doing in restoring the old photos won't overwrite or harm other albums you create in the meantime. Here is an announcement regarding the progress of the restoration: Announcements - Hot Topics

Ever seen inside Mod Towers? OH THE HUMANITY!*swoon*
as compared to the old forums, i do notice that opening up multiple tabs and waiting for whole forums with images to load is very very much slower than before. i agree it would be nice if someone were to give some directions on possibly speeding this up -perhaps a bit more than the links to the firefox or i.e. trouble-shooting site as they are quite generic.
You read everyones mind. Its like every time theres a Facebook update I'm like. NO!!! Im very liberal in life but with app updates I'm a neo-con keep it as it is. LoL!
I deleted the Subscribed threads all 167 of them that I never wanted to subscribe to in the first place.
It seems that that deletion also deleted my comments section. So Ican not read comments made to me now.
any way to bring comments back?
I am a 100% sure that your comments are still in the same place. If you want to we can play the "change password, give someone else the password, login, check comments, change password again"-game. Or you provide screenshots![]()

To those who are receiving the slow script message, post the URLs from the thread to better help in tracking down the offending script.
Way to censor free speech. :P
Anyhoo, a couple things I've noticed:
Thread comments still load in 'my settings' and the link for post comments just takes one to 'my settings'. I mention this for two reasons - one, reduce load on sever by not pulling comments everytime someone loads 'my settings' to check for new subscribed threads and two, I didn't know if you intended to move them to their own page like before.
When viewing a forum, I see the arrow indicating I've posted in a particular thread. But, as Beachguyj pointed out here, the indicator for subscription is gone. So if one subscribes without posting, there's no longer the check mark indication. Under thread tools there is only an option to subscribe to a thread whether one subscribed or not. The 'unsubscibe' option is gone, but still available in 'my settings'.
The images under the 'link back' drop down when viewing a thread don't load and throw a 404 (http://www.justusboys.com/forum/vbse...nkback_url.gif and http://www.justusboys.com/forum/vbse...back_about.gif). The same goes for images for the edit icon when viewing one's profile (http://www.justusboys.com/forum.just...field_edit.gif).
Would it be possible to move 'View First Unread' to left-justified like it was before? It seems a natural place as when one opens a thread his cursor is on the left.

Well, i've downloaded Opera. It works so much better than Firefox. I'm not having any of the speed issues or suspension issues waiting for threads to load. I am slightly annoyed that i need to have another browser to continue enjoying JUB since Firefox worked perfectly fine before. Hey-oh i guess.

We've had high winds here today which knocked out the power for a second at one point forcing me to reboot and restart FireFox 3.5.1. The little male symbol icon is back on the tab, and although the pages still take a long time to load they do eventually finish and the loading animated icon on the tab and the green progress bar at the bottom go away.
I've reduced the script run time by setting "dom.max_script_run_time" in "about:config" to 5, and I'm still not seeing any warnings about unresponsive scripts.
Would it be possible to have an image quality setting of Lo/Med/Hi like Opera Mini's in user settings? JUB forums has bigger avatars and signatures than other forums I visit regularly.
I seem to notice the font is significantly smaller than before. I prefer a larger font; it is easier to read.
And yes, I find it takes longer to load than before. Not so happy about that.
Hello,
The site is definitely running faster. We tested in firefox, internet explorer and safari on Mac and PC. So, if its slower, its not the servers. It's some conflict with your specific system. You can help us fix this for yourself and everyone. If anyone can tell us which script it is that is giving the unresponsive message, it would be extremely helpful. We have not been able to duplicate the issue using the latest Internet Explorer version we have installed here. So if someone can give us the exact details it would be helpful. Specifically, we need to know if you can dig out what script it is that has become unresponsive. There are so many that run, that we need more specific information.
Thanks!
Seth, I've experienced what others have described. I can't find the post that had a thread linked that gave the error. It would only happens in IE >=7. I'm not sure about <7 as I didn't test it. The error doesn't give any specifics on which script is causing it. I had to bypass my proxy for it to occur, so it's coming from something I usually block. As soon as I can get it to act-up again, I can go through my ACLs line-by-line and see which site is hosting the script and then go from there.

Any chance that we can increase the time limit which seems to exist on posting? Any long posts result in an error message telling you to reload and log in. I really don't wanna risk losing a post due to auto log-outs.

Bryce, over in the Groups area, we have the icon to add pics as an IMG tag but when you save, the editor returns the error that BB Code won't allow IMG tags. The insert video works fine. Any chance of tweaking the permissions to allow piccies? Thanks in Advance
