I would then be having to report over 50% of all my posts from now on, and many twice, with ridiculously minor silly corrections. I wouldn't waste either my time or yours with a barrage of inconsequential tinkering.
I DON'T mean this question is any accusatory way - reading the plain text unfortunately ALWAYS implies this and there's nothing I can do about it. Can one of the mods explain to me why the decision was made to put the editing time down from 20 minutes to 5 minutes?![]()
My thought is we are far from the finished product. Isn't that true? Is there really any point in even reporting bugs at this time?
@ opinterph
ThanksI just now went tried that ...
I selected 'Default Mobile Style' but can't get anything from it .. there's no buttons for 'ok' or 'choose'
@Telstra subscribed threads show fine for me, they have a little green arrow on the icon & are the same color/font as the others (at least what I see, but I'm thinking things are showing differently for different people? )
@opinterph never mind on the mobile version .. it doesn't work from the forum pages, but I can get to it from my settings/options page
Loads fast butvery basic screen ... brings back memories of the early days of forums back when I was using some version of Netscape
LOL
(I think I'll try the fancy/slooow version for a while longer..)
You see that word "Lex" at the bottom of my posts? That's my signature. I type it there each time. I do it after glancing over my post to see if I'm OK with it. That doesn't mean I catch all my errors - I don't - but it helps me remember that "the internet is forever" and everything I post will be there permanently.
I can't speak for the mods, but I think we're on a different platform now. As you've no doubt noticed, there's a LOT of changes made. Not just cosmetic, but in how things are organized and put together. Different buttons to push to accomplish the same (or just similar) results, new features, all that. The fact that the time given to edit posts went from 20 minutes to 5 minutes isn't at all a surprising one. I can guarantee they didn't go into the coding, and deliberately change the editing time from 20 to 5 just to anger you...and despite what you say, your first two posts on this page all but accuse them of doing so. You did not simply say "Hey, here's something that's different", or even "I really liked it the other way - could you change it back?" Saying "It's EXTREMELY frustrating for me to see something in my post that I can improve and make better, yet not being allowed to because of an unexplainable shortening in the editing time" sounds more like "You know, I COULD be a really fun guy here on JUB if you ASSHOLES hadn't fucked with the settings".I DON'T mean this question is any accusatory way - reading the plain text unfortunately ALWAYS implies this and there's nothing I can do about it. Can one of the mods explain to me why the decision was made to put the editing time down from 20 minutes to 5 minutes?![]()
Jesus fucking Christ, chicken, calm the fuck down. Chances are good that they can change it, but it's probably not a huge priority for them right now. You know, with them still reloading all the information back in, and making sure all the buttons work, and keeping the server active, and putting the actual new JUB skin on. (Remember - this is the temporary look.) If having the 20-minute-window removed (presumably temporarily) is going to be that problematic and that frustrating to you, I'd recommend either giving a lot more thought to your posts before hitting "reply", or perhaps not posting at all until they send you a PM letting you know it's back to the way it was.

ChickenGuy beat me to the question about the 5-minute editing option. And G-Lex, what you say is a good approach, but very often I will think of something more than five minutes after, as something I "should have" put into my post. CG is also correct about wasting the time of the moderators, if he needs to keep reporting his own posts or asking for edits.
The option, of course, is to quote oneself in a new post, and your post counts becomes larger, wheeee!
I thought 20 minutes was a good compromise before - I do hope that length of time comes back for us.

Well I was thinking many of the "bugs" are just because it isn't finished yet. I'm asking if they really want us to be reporting all this stuff or just hang tight until they're finished with the upgrade? If they do, I'll start making a list...starting with wher is the spel chek butin?
^ I'd list them here. They're checking on this thread as they go along. It might be something that they're not aware of, and it might be something that is affecting something else that they're trying to solve. Just check that it hasn't already been mentioned in the thread.![]()
You could post also in the Site Help, Feedback & Bug Report forum.
The option to "Delete Account" also seems to have disappeared.
FYI, under the Heading "The Backrooms", is this.............."Felling a little frisky? This is were the grown men play." Felling?![]()

So sorry Corny, as I worked is software business, when I make the software I have dialogs with "customers", so I employed this word by reflex, even though I know full well that you're doing all your work here for free, and thank you again for that
Please forgive my slip of word(hum don't know if my English is good here

I'm feeling really lost without the "Quick reply" box at the bottom....
And am I the only one who finds the new color scheme bland? almost boring?

While I'm whining...
what's the word on our galleries? Fit for Life seems naked without the pics.
And BTW, how do I make that gawdoffal annoying "tweets" thing on the left go away?

I like the Newest Blog Entries thing down the side of the forum index page. Gives more prominence to guys blogs compared to the old forum which may lead to an upsurge of people doing them.
I just wanted to congratulate you guys on the new look! It's awesome!! Good work!
I guess it's not a bug -- but I get this dialogue box now that says " A script is running and causing IE to run slowly, do you want to stop it? - (words to that effect) -- and I say yes - but everything seems slower now (with my lovely dial-up) --
**sigh**
"Do that to me one more time, once is never enough with a man like you!"

This is probably nothing to do with the makeover but i'll ask anyway,
I usually stay on the new posts pages, but for the last two days i've been getting a message saying that the Fun&Games section is excluded from the new posts, i've asked the guys in Fun&Games about it and apparently it's only me, could you tell me how i reinstate them back into the new posts pages ?
One more thing, i've had to change over to Google Chrome as since the upgrade i couldn't scroll down any thread without the page freezing for a couple of seconds, any info on this ?
Thanks for all your help.

John,
I don't know - it let's you express that you Like something, without having to make a post to do it - which can be very handy in fast moving threads that you aren't in 24/7.
And I know, if I'll only be true, to this glorious quest . . .
Seth,
I'm using Firefox over Windows 7 and not having a problem.
Have you cleared your cache/deleted temp internet files since the upgrade?
Maybe you have some old stuff cached that's conflicting?
I know I had to do that awhile ago, and I did that just before the upgrade official shut down, and had issues not being able to use bold, font, etc. for a day - there must have been some pre-upgrade thing that happened, because Kulindahr was impacted by it, too.
All seems to be working for me, now, though.
As for F&G not showing on new posts - check your profile settings, I think there's a place that allows you to exclude forums. Maybe you inadvertantly turned F&G off?

I'm all for likes buttons, as long as they stay within JUB and are not linked to our facebook profiles and walls.
Yeah Don did the whole cache thing, i've probably just clicked on a button by mistake.

I'm thinking it's an Internal "like", as has been requested by some JUBbers before. At least I'm HOPING that's the case, even though I don't have (nor expect I ever will have) an FB page/account.

WISDOM is the Knowledge you've gained ... After you could have used it! _Me
Small difference I noticed. In the Stories forum, there are a number of story threads with star ratings. You used to be able to hover over the stars with the mouse to see how many people have rated the story. You can no longer do this.
That's a very valid point, JaG.
Otherwise, we'll all need to set up new FB accounts (aliases) based on new, alias e-mail accounts.
Way too much effort.

How do you attach a picture so it can be displayed in its native resolution?
The 2nd way is the way to do it.
What you do is, copy the URL, then paste it into your post. Highlight the text, then click on the icon on the far right - 'Wrap IMG tags around selected text'
If you use the tree icon instead, the image comes out smaller (1st image above)

I knew it was one or the other, lol.
Thanks, JaG.
You asked the question and wound up answering it, with a small point.
