    Re: Bugs you notice

One your pics are in your gallery, you can link to them in your posts, like I just did to get these here.
Highlight the picture you want to use in one window, right click and select "Copy Image Location"
then go to the post you want to insert into, use the Tree, icon, click on "From URL", click into the thin line for input,
past the link into the line.

If you need help from there, let me know - Topher did a good job up above with explanations -
I start in the Quick Reply box,
    do my typing,
    click on the tree,
    post the link,
    THEN "Go Advanced"
THEN click on the Blue Shaded A/A to make it WYSIWIG - gets the images converted
Go to the lower section that has the pics, too - double click on the first image,
edit the way you want (e.g. I click on "Center" and "Full Size" to maximize the size of the pic.)
When done editing all of your pics,
    THEN press Submit Reply.

Note: I've found my PC and JUB work better when I get all of the typing done and pics uploaded in the Quick Reply, where the pics are represented as number reference.

If I try Going Advanced too soon, my PC can't handle it and the image doesn't load properly for me to edit in WYSIWIG later.

    Re: Bugs you notice

While I'm at it how do I change the pic that's with the gallery title? The one there is disgusting.

"Thirty-one* states allow all qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons. In those states, homosexuals should embark on organized efforts to become comfortable with guns, learn to use them safely and carry them. They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. "

I don't see any "add files" -- I get a window called "Manage Attachments". ???

Read through a thousand posts? You've got to be kidding.

    Re: Bugs you notice

    Kuli,
You're in the Standard (old) editor for pics.

At the manage attachments pop-up, just click on Browse to find the folder, image you want to upload.
You can link up to five per session.

Top "Browse" section is to upload from your PC, bottom section is to paste hyperlink from a Webpage reference.

    Note:
There is an attachment key at the bottom -
.gif 5.00Mb max, 700 max width.

jpeg 5.00MB max, 700 max width.

jpg 5.00MB max, 700 max width

png 5.00MB max, 800 max width.

No .bmp, .wmv, or other file types supported.

OK, I knew setting your Album Cover pic wasn't difficult, once you know where to do it.

Go to the album you want to change the cover for.
Click on it so you're IN that Album.
    Click on EDIT Pics.

You should get an exploded gallery in one long column that looks like the following pic -
Just find the pic you want as the album cover, and check the box to make it the cover pic.

I'm in whatever you told me to click for settings earlier -- turned something off.

    Kuli,
Not that it matters, but JohannBessler had you turn it off so you were in the more familiar, older style picture manager.
If you read my later post, it addresses that editor.

Otherwise, you can go back and turn the Image setting back "on" for advanced, and the screen shots I posted will look more familiar.

Whoa -- I confused you and Johann! Must be truly spacy today... prolly from adjusting meds (frak, but I hate pills!).

I'll go back and turn it on again -- your first post looked far more intuitive. But they really need some better programmers -- a game programmer would have the interface so there'd be a half dozen different ways to get anywhere, so there'd be at least one that would seem obvious to everyone, and it wouldn't take instructions to learn any of it.

    Re: Bugs you notice

    Two things:

    1. I keep getting email claiming I haven't been on JUB for a very long time, and wanting me to "come back".

    2. Except for this forum, with every thread I try to enter I get a message saying the page I requested can't be found!!!

It's working, but most of the time I'm being dropped in at the start of the thread instead of the latest post.

Sounds like cookie/cache issues - I frequently will read a thread or two, and as I go back to my subscriptions page, they all of a sudden all show read, so I have to back up from the last post in the thread to my previous post and go forward from there.

The problem with not receiving email notifications has occurred again. Not getting them for threads I don't mind so much, but I do mind when I don't get them for private messages.

I second that. I have thread subscription notification changing to "none" all by itself on a bunch of threads, and even the ones that say "automatic e-mail" aren't sending me anything.

This is more than inconvenient; it more than doubles the time it takes me to finish making responses in a forum.

That is very odd. As far as I can recall I've only had that happen a couple of times, but not recently.

So, since my earlier post on the matter I've had email notification for a private message but still not getting them for threads.

I didn't get the notifications for the thread replies that started on the 2nd going into the 3rd, either.

I VERY much rely on the thread notifications. I see a couple others mentioning the issue. It's happened 2 or 3 times the past couple weeks.

    Re: Bugs you notice

While I was gone for a week, all the pics and gifs I had posted in recent threads from my hidden photo albums disappeared. Why? Because the links to them were somehow changed. Here's an example:

I posted the below Romney gif in the following thread on Sept. 21st:
    http://www.justusboys.com/forum/thre...est-flip-flops

You can see the previous link to the gif in the above referenced thread by clicking on "Reply With Quote" in the opening post. If you try to go to the pic manually, a vBulletin Message says, "This user has not registered and therefore does not have a profile to view."

Try stopping by your threads to "reset" the notification - it only works on 1st post since visited per thread - when it works properly.

No FRIDAY notifications. Three days in a row now.

I depend on those - somebody please let me know what's happening, or if I have to do something.

Ditto that. This is really messed up.

Okay, a few of my subscriptions worked today, but mostly not.

Does anyone in charge know what's going on?

    THIS IS UPSETTING ME.

Please, somebody...it's been more than five days since I've gotten any kind of subscription notice from JUB. These are important to me. Is this what I'm supporting?

Corny, EXACTLY WHAT should I put in my address book, so that notifications will come in if PERHAPS Yahoo is blocking them for some reason? I REALLY want to solve this.

I want to return to the full JUB experience, please - trying to check threads "the other way" is incredibly cumbersome.

    Re: Bugs you notice

Since I last posted on this matter I have had some email notifications but not nearly as many as there should have been. These include 1 out of 7 for private messages and 5 for threads, when there should have been a lot more. Ironically 2 of the emails I've had were for this thread I've also had an email informing me of all the wonderful recent changes to the site

Oh yeah and while I'm in a complaining mood, I don't know if it's just happening for me or it's a general problem, but pages are loading very slowly. This seems to be a problem that mostly occurs with threads with lots of pictures and gifs in though.

It'd be nice if someone from behind the scenes could stop by this thread and tell us what's going on.

    Re: Bugs you notice

I'm not getting all of my private message notifications - just a small fraction of them, I think. They were often slow before, but eventually showed up. Not now.

Page loading seems to be slower overall (compared to pre-change). I expect pics linked to outside sources to be slow - that hasn't improved. The one slowness that's new is opening a pic that's an attachment within the site, the ones with thumbnails. Not always, but sometimes, and especially when creating a post. It's slow enough to make me less likely to post pics. Both in creating a post and just viewing one, it's not unusual to take 8 or more seconds for the pic to load. That's slow by today's standards.

IT IS NOW SIX DAYS since I've received a notification of any kind.

Will this ever be fixed? Please, somebody. And what should I put in my address book, possibly to assure I receive notifications if Yahoo is doing something before they hit my spam folder?

I need some help on this. SERIOUSLY.

I'm on Yahoo but I don't believe it's down to them. This is a recurring problem with JUB and if memory serves me right a previous cause was to do with the servers.

    Re: Bugs you notice

I run my own email server and have pretty much all my business and personal emails sent to it. I have no spam filtering set up on it, and I haven't gotten any JUB emails either, so I don't think it's a matter of members' personal email services. Even so, add donotreply@justusboys.com to your "white list" so that emails from JUB aren't blocked.

The last private message notification I got was on 28 Sep 2012. I've gotten three PMs since then, but no email notification to go along with them. So I can at least confirm that I'm experiencing the same issue. I bet it's some problem with the SMTP server or settings for the SMTP server that JUB has set up to relay their emails.

Good luck mods. Let me know if I can help with anything. I have LOTS of experience setting up web and mail servers.

    Frank,
I have another ISP who recently contracted to Yahoo as their e-mail provider - I set my ISP settings up to not filter a long time ago - I get everything - some go to a "SPAM" folder that I can see how many are going there and do what I choose with.

I WAS getting PM's and 1st post since visiting e-mails until somewhat recently - certainly after the JUB upgrade AND my ISP contracting w/ Yahoo for E-mail.

And I know, if I'll only be true, to this glorious quest . . .

How about someone even responds???? I thought admin monitored this thread....

FWIW, I'm still getting occasional notifications, but they seem random. To judge by the notifications I get, participation in JUB forums has dropped to almost nothing.

Thank you AstareGod! I can't believe that, in two different threads, I've asked this same question and you were the only one to answer. Now I know what to put on my white list (well, ADDRESS BOOK - there's no such thing as a white list).

Eight days with no notifications at all. I'm getting sick of this, really...but it also looks like JUB posting has slammed to a crawl, as when I visit my subscriptions via more cumbersome methods, there are hardly any posts in anything.

    Re: Bugs you notice

You're welcome, frankfrank! I actually turned off email subscriptions for myself because I was subscribed to way too many threads and ended up with 2000 emails I still haven't gone through yet. Yeesh. I find it easier to just go to the "My Settings" link at the top-right of any page on the forum to view a list of threads I'm subscribed to which have updates. I can also quickly get to my PMs by clicking the Inbox link to the left when I'm on the settings/subscriptions page.

Even though this is easier and preferred by me, I realize how useful email notifications are. For one, they (should) show up immediately after someone makes a post so that you can read their response and respond yourself when a thread and its discussion are important to you. Likewise when someone sends you a PM, you'll know about it immediately instead of when you think to check JUB. However, with email notifications not being too reliable, perhaps going to "My Settings" will at least ease the frustration.

    Re: Bugs you notice

^ Thanks again, to you. Actually I have it set up for DAILY email notifications, so that I don't end up with 417 in my inbox in one day. Customarily, even with 2000+ threads, it's rare for me to get more than 25 notifications per day. I am having to do as you suggested - the "My Settings" process - and have been doing so, but to me that's a much more "clunky" way of doing it. There's nothing telling me WHERE in the thread I need to go, because there can be 1 or there can be 238, posts in that thread since I last looked. In the Confess Something...thread it happened there were a whole slew of posts and I had to keep going back.

I don't get enough PM's to worry about, and I don't even know if those are affected or not. Having the Notifications tab there is one of the most useful JUB additions in recent years.

Yes, the "My Settings" method has been working for me, but it is FAR slower (for me, perhaps because of how my mind works) than the Notifications method.

    Re: Bugs you notice

As I mentioned above, I'm not getting all of my notices for PM. Sometimes it seems that I get notices only if I'm not checking the messages directly on the site. In the past, I think I was getting them both ways (eventually), so I had a copy in my email if I couldn't log in to the forum. I have only a few threads set for email notification, so I can't say much about that working properly.

I don't use Yahoo for my notifications emails - I use AOL - but I do have the same ISP as DQ, which uses Yahoo for mail.

Before the site changes, I was getting PM notices up to three days late and it seemed to NOT be a problem with AOL (based on the detailed header information). I did get all of them eventually.

Sloppy isn't that hard to understand -- you just have to slip your cognitive gear box slightly out of gear and tilt it sideways a bit, and then invoke the little guys down in the corner of certain political cartoons while sifting it through a sieve made of drug dreams and middle school conversations.
