    Re: Bugs you notice

Okay, it's twice now I've had this problem:

I spend some time working on a post. I leave it to come back later and finish. When I come back, finish up, and hit "post", I get a message that says my submission can't be posted because I've logged in since I started it. It says to use the back arrow to log in again and then post.

Except using the back arrow doesn't accomplish a thing. In order to post, I have to hit the "reload" button on the browser....

    which wipes out my post.

I used to do this a lot while working on story chapter submissions, and didn't have this trouble; it's only been since the upgrade.

They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. "

    Kuli,
I don't know "the fix", but maybe you should take to copying all of your text before you post when you do this extended, step away, thing.

And I know, if I'll only be true, to this glorious quest . . .

When you return to finish, do you log in on the same page you left open or from another page?

I've never experienced this, but I can think of two workarounds for it. One is checking the 'Remember Me' box when you log in, but you do have to remember to log out every time if other people use your computer and you don't want them to be able to get into your account. The other is to open your buddy list when you log in and then you won't get logged out due to inactivity.

    Topher,
I am checked and I always open my Buddy List - and I don't seem to run into the problem, either - I went to get my 20YO earlier tonight and all was good when I came back.

    I didn't have a semi-started post, but I wasn't logged off, either.

And I know, if I'll only be true, to this glorious quest . . .

I decided that today after I had to spend forty minutes redoing a post of the newest Fit for Life chapter.

Duh -- why didn't I think of that? I was working from the same page, 'cause it said to just use the back arrow.

Log out? I never log out of anything.

No one uses my computer unless they can guess my nineteen-character password.

    "Buddy list"???

So then do you click the "Remember Me" box when you log in? If you do that, then it you shouldn't ever have to log in again unless you click Log Out (or the site logs you out such as for a major upgrade.)

I never see a "Remember Me" box -- I come to JUB via email notifications for threads I've subscribed to, so what I see is the thread or the forum list when I pop up to that level to check for new threads.

And since despite the claim, there is nothing here that is "safe for work" -- or more importantly, for the public library -- I never visit from any other computer.

So I presume that once upon a time, I checked "Remember Me", and it still remembers me.

If you're facing that situation, you could use your computer's "copy" function, then there'll be a stored copy that you can paste even if you lost the JUB copy.

The "unsubscribe from thread" function seems to be missing from each thread tools section at the top of the page.

of course, I can easily unsubscribe on my subscribed threads list...but for those times when you read a thread and just have enough of it, it would be nice to be able to do it from within the thread as well. Hope that made sense, and if I'm missing something or not understanding...someone let me know.

I've only unsubscribed from a couple threads, but I never saw an option in the thread tools so I always used the Unsubscribe link next to the thread in My Settings.

    Topher,
I agree - I don't recall ever seeing an unsubscribe elsewhere - of course, I don't unsubscribe often - usually only after a story is very old and I'm trying to shorten my total subscription list.

    Re: Bugs you notice

Occasionally I maintain subscriptions to F & G threads, then I eventually cancel the subscription. A few months later I may post in the unsubscribed threads again, and let the subscription run for a few days or weeks, then I unsubscribe again.

I never even noticed there is no unsubscribe link directly on the thread. I'm patient enough to wait until the next notification, then I can unsubscribe from the email notification. (YES THAT'S STILL THERE.)

Other than F & G, I almost never unsubscribe. I think the most notifications I've ever received in a day was around 40 or 43, at a time when I did have a bunch of active F & G subscriptions. Today my notifications tallied to 14.

That is despite having more than 2,000 subscriptions. Almost always, non-F&G threads "sink" and no longer get posts.

OTOH, if I was interested in a thread once, I'm likely to remain interested in it. Therefore, if somebody digs up even a thread that's four years old that I'm still subscribed to, I am happy that I'm subscribed and will get a notification.

    Frank,
We're not so different in that.
The main difference is that I don't set most of my subscriptions to e-mail notification - I work from my subscriptions page when I come on to J U B, so I see them, that way.

I have just a select few set to e-mail, so I know when a chapter in a story has been updated.

Has J U B been doing upgrades, or been impacted by the FBI warnings about malware?
Many of us have tried, with somewhat limited success to even GET to J U B today.

J U B was slow this morning and eventually was gone completely for a couple of hours (on both windows and macs). Then it came back to life later this afternoon. It seemed to be waiting for the advertisements sub domain for long periods of time. It is fine now.

Hey guys... this time it wasn't our fault. The webhost Nationalnet.com had a major dns / routing issue this morning. Many sites including Justusboys.com, rockettube.com, brokestraightboys.com, emptyclosets.com... even the Atlanta Falcons NFL football team site atlantafalcons.com were offline. In total over 100,000 sites were offline. Our host tells us that it took an emergency intervention team from Cisco to get things back up and going. Hopefully, we'll be getting more details on how this happened and what they are doing to prevent it from happening again.

I'm confused...I just tried replying to a Private Message (PM), using Go Advanced mode, and I could find nowhere to upload any attachments. I think I can work around that, but it's a hassle, is there anytrhing I need to do to attach an image in a PM?

I also tried it as a NEW PM (not as a reply) and I still see no kind of link to attach anything.

Okay you can forget the above, they're all back, guess i should have just turned the machine off then back on.

The only gripe i have with the upgrade is the one minute wait between posts, but the faster loading times make up for it.

not too keen on the upgrade either, especially the "upload manager"

I don't like it that I can remove pics from gallery, but am NOT allowed to remove pics from the "upload manager"

curious as to why that is...

and for the 100th time .. if you do not like the new upload manager, why the f*** don't you either click the "basic uploader" button to revert to the old uploader .. or simply change it in your profile settings to always have the basic uploader?

You mean once a pic is uploaded, JUB keeps it forever?

At nite, I type into this site, my requirements for my breakfast meal. In the morning, I get up, open the door.....and..nothing. :/ When is this going to be fixed?

One mustn't assign sexual stereotypes to positions of employ, Kuli.

That particular anatomical arrangement has always been *can't pick right word*.
It tends to lend new meaning to the expression "Go Fuck Yourself" though, lol.

    Hello,

Thanks for the heads up. We have our host checking into it. It looks like one of the servers is misbehaving.

    Thanks,
    Bryce

That happened to me the last time in, too.

I went to post and Bam, it was off - I tried running my PC Tools Performance Tool Kit to clear all cache, etc, hoping it would help - didn't. I figured you went down for back up or similar, but couldn't get back in to post about it.

    Re: Bugs you notice

I hit a new one: I selected a certain post for multiquote. A bit later I selected another to reply with quote. Only the first one showed. I tried again, and the same thing happened.

So I quit the thread and tried once more -- same result.

Then I tried quoting a different post -- and the only thing that showed was the first one I selected for multiquote.

So I logged off JUB, returned, tried yet another post to reply to... and got the same post, not the one I was replying to.

How do I escape this persistent post?

    Re: Bugs you notice

Since upgrading to FireFox 15, I keep getting a javascript: void(0) error when I click on the tree icon, select off the web, and paste a .jpg or.gif link.

I've been using advanced, WYSIWIG setting so I can post the pic, then double click on it to center and "large" it.

Now, after giving me the Javascript error, the forum posts it as an attachment, instead of allowing the formatting and resizing. And, as soon as I come here, it works!

OK. Why not over in F&G, but it worked here????

Old post, but I've some advice.

Usually when any page directs me to a window saying "server not found" or the pesky 404, I go to my command prompt and type in "ipconfig /flushdns"

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Though it works 99% of the time when I spam it 6 times haha.

And I still can't figure out how to upload pics now. It's like it was made so obscure so no one would use it.

I can't even figure out where to find these things you're talking about.

Why the hell isn't there just a "My pics" button in the list on the left with everything else?

I can help you find the basic uploader.

    1. Go to My Settings, near the top of your page. Click on it.
    2. Scroll about half-way down. On the left side, youll see an option called "general settings". Click on it.
    3. Scroll three-quarters down the page. You'll see a choice given to you. One's called "enhanced uploading on"; the other "enhanced uploading off". Click on the second radio button. (See attachment below for a picture of this option.)

    4. Save your settings and exit.
