"Thirty-one* states allow all qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons. In those states, homosexuals should embark on organized efforts to become comfortable with guns, learn to use them safely and carry them. They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. "![]()

Americans need to keep their guns so they can protect themselves from gun violence just like Nancy Lanza did. And like Chris Kyle did. And like Gabby Giffords did. And like Tom Clements did.

Modern Christianity and religions in general, if it's not the whole warts and all, it really is a pic'n'mix bag, even with so called "scholarship". Westboro Baptist Church pretty much nails it when they say heed all the stuff in the bible or else. Its a repressive thought control tool, or a happy religion if you just ignore the bits you don't like (you know the more enlightened free thinking) see above re Satan, post#1653

Talking about the pope, he's resigning his Petrine ministry.
It seems to me remarkably sophisticated that the Greeks generally understood the stories about their gods to be fictional and had them anyway. If so they were a step ahead of us, divided into warring camps of factualists.
You've stated elsewhere that you regard the resurrection of christ as a fact. In a ritual setting this makes perfect sense. In a non-ritual setting, there are simpler and more rational accounts of the event. Our era bars movement between the two settings. We ought to be more Greek about these things; as our ritual dimension faces eclipse.
They loved living here.
But I can't let them stay.
They'll have to find food, and I hope that they may.
Good luck, boys! Good luck!

I know, I know, it's not 'anti-religion', but I think it's funny and wanted to share

Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day.
Give a man religion, and he'll starve praying for a fish.

^^ I like that guy, Brian Cox. His "Wonders of the Universe" series is so fascinating.

This thread, and everything about it is awesome.
Consider all the adversity society has faced in the name of religion (a MAN MADE, tax exempt, money making machine) and now consider how and why we as a society rarely call out organized religion and are requested to tailor OUR lives, livelihood, and policy for organized religion and treating it as sacred.
I believe the agnostic and athiesm community: we need to start forming our own vocal communities, and being less apologetic about not being part of the mind controlling pyramid that is religion.
