Will You be Going to see "Titanic 3-D" in the Theater ?

    Actually, I suppose we'll go....

Just for the IMAX, great surround sound 3D experience of it all...

(I remember when I first saw it back in the 90's... Cried like a baby I did when Jack, well.. you know....)

    GOD.

    I'm SO gay.

    How about you ?

No, the Dion song, dated CG and sinking dreamboat DiCaprio are all bad points.

I never saw it the first go 'round. Nor am I interested this time.

Besides, I know how it ends.

I prefer 1953's Titanic or 1958's A Night To Remember.

My wife and I had a good laugh when we saw the commercials for Titanic 3D. I find this new trend of re-releasing movies in 3D amusing. Of all movies, why Titanic? Oh right, so I can pay $20 a person to watch Kate Winslet let her lover freeze to death... MOVE OVER YA FAT BITCH, THERE'S ENOUGH ROOM ON THAT DOOR FOR TWO!

I saw My Bloody Valentine. I saw Avatar. I saw Saw 3D.

    I'm over 3D movies.

Plus, I have no need to see some sap fast for more than what it's worth. I personally hope it tanks so Hollywood doesn't make a trend out of it.

Well, is seeing Leo DiCaprio frozen to death in 3-D a worthy endeavour?

I would go see THIS movie:

I didn't see the original, and I won't see this one.

All of this 3-D remastering, endless sequels and remakes...

I love how Hollywood is TELLING us: Our creativity is running out! We can't come up with anything new!!

And we simply embrace this development with our hard-earned dollars.

Because this April 14/15 will mark the 100th year anniversary of Titanic's sinking (she was hit by the iceberg on April 14 and went down on April 15, 1912). The hype surrounding this event is actually building up a lot. Therefore, if they were ever going to release the film in 3D, now would be the time.

There are a lot of events going on as well for the 100 year anniversary. From wiki,

    - At 12:13 pm on 31 May 2011, exactly 100 years after Titanic rolled down her slipway, a single flare was fired over Belfast's docklands in commemoration. All boats in the area around the Harland and Wolff shipyard then sounded their horns and the assembled crowd applauded for exactly 62 seconds, the time it had originally taken for the liner to roll down the slipway in 1911.

    - On 12 March 2012 BBC's Songs Of Praise, from Belfast, took the form of a Titanic memorial. The programme included a selection of maritime hymns and ended with Nearer, My God, to Thee, allegedly the last tune played by the ship's band.

    - On 6 April 2012, the 100th anniversary of Titanic's maiden voyage will be celebrated by re-releasing the 1997 feature film Titanic in 3D.

    - ITV1 have produced a four-part Titanic mini-series, written by Oscar-winner Julian Fellowes, to be broadcast in early 2012.

    - A new original stageplay by Chris Burgess about the Titanic, called Iceberg – Right Ahead! will be performed Upstairs at the Gatehouse from 22 March – 22 April 2012.

    - The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will perform The Titanic Requiem, a work composed by singer/songwriter Robin Gibb and his son RJ Gibb, on 10 April in London. The event will include a hologram show depicting the sea, the ship, and the iceberg.

    - The cruise ship Balmoral, operated by Fred Olsen Cruise Lines has been chartered by Miles Morgan Travel to follow the original route of Titanic, intending to stop over the point on the sea bed where she rests on 15 April 2012.

I personally love Titanic and have seen many documentaries about her. It's a shame that the bacteria on the ship are eating her away at the rate of 400 pounds (180 kg) per day. It has been estimated that within the next 50 years the hull and structure of Titanic will collapse entirely, eventually leaving only the more durable interior fittings of the ship intermingled with a pile of rust on the sea floor.

Re: Will You be Going to see "Titanic 3-D" in the Theater ?

I will see it. I've been a Titanic buff for most of my life and I actually take serious issue with the movie. I think it's great that it brought the sinking into the public's attention so much, but I hated how it was used as the backdrop for a cliche, melodramatic teenage romance. It was unnecessary. Plus, I think Cameron made some egregious errors, such as making it look like the lookouts missed seeing the iceberg in time because they were perving on Rose and Jack making out on the deck. It's disgraceful and an insult to the memories of those two men. However, from a strictly cinematic sense, anytime an epic movie of this scale is re-released into theaters - in 3D or not - I feel it's necessary to take the opportunity to see on the big screen again. It's not often that we get the chance to re-experience movies like this in that format.

Personally, I'm more excited about the new miniseries. ABC is airing it in the US on April 14 and 15, on the anniversary itself. There's also another miniseries called Titanic: Blood and Steel that focuses on the design and construction of the ship that I'm excited about, as well.
Someone asked me once how I could know that I'm gay if I've never slept with a woman. I've never shoved shards of glass into my eye, either, but I don't have to give it a shot to know that it's not for me.

No, but I will spend what I would have spent on the movie on the special LIFE publication observing the 100th anniversary.

    Nopers.

I wish your poll was multiple choice as I was thinking, "hell no, go fuck yourself and leave me along, I'm masturbating."

One sad, true story is that when I saw it in the theatre, as I was walking out I overheard some young girls talking, "I can't believe it sank."

    I lol'd.

Anyway, I'll definitely go see it. Titanic has always been one of my favorites, whether it was cheesy or not. It gets to me every time. While I agree them releasing it in 3D is a bit unnecessary, getting a chance to see it in a theater once again like I saw when I was still in elementary school will be amazing.

Isn't it like four hours long? I couldn't stay awake to finish watching the 1970 Dune movie muchless Titanic...3D doesn't really do much for me either bonus-wise.

I do like the themesong for it though....:P

I didn't see it the first time in cinema but on video. Only part I liked was watching Jack sink, and I wanted to throw the old woman overboard when she turfed that diamond into the sea. Can't see the point of seeing it in 3D. Shameless cash grab as far as I'm concerned. Plus, I'm just about sick of all these films being released in 3D.

    HELL TO THE NO.

My sister wasn't old enough to go to the movies by herself, so I got dispatched to supervise her & her small horde of friends to watch it multiple times.

I got in trouble from an usher for reading a book with a book light, and after that, I just brought headphones and book-on-tape'd my way through.

I work at a movie theatre and Titanic is one of the previews. Every time I hear it on my break, particularly when Celine shouts, "You're here, there's NOOOOOOTHING I FEAR!" I die a little inside.

So yes, I will be watching it.

I don't like theatres, nor do I particularly care about 3D or Titanic. So... no.

I heard we can see Rose's panties when she falling from the stairs-scene and that's the only good catch for the whole 3d thing.

You are going to start your first date by watching a romantic tragedy? Is that really a wise thing to do on a symbolic level?

I saw it on Imax last Sunday. In many ways, it is still much the same great movie it always was. In others, it was a whole new awesome experience. But for sure, the difference between any version of this movie on home video vs. on the big screen is night and day.
