    A Heart full of sadness

My heart is full of sadness.

Yesterday (3/19/2012 Australian time) my 79 year and 1 month old mother, Therese Wright suddenly passed away in my sisters arms.

    Mum was not ill.

Mum had a really good weekend with the grand kids and yesterday she had a good laugh with my sister and then in the afternoon she had difficulty breathing and when my sister got to her house she was in distress and left us as my sister held her.

The hardest thing has been that they kept mum at her house until I could get down here and say my goodbye. Seeing her laid out on the floor with her head on the pillow was heartbreaking for me.

I loved my mother dearly and spoke with her every day. I will miss her.

Her service will be on Friday and that will be a hard day.

Eternal rest grant unto her, Oh Lord.
May perpetual light shine upon her.
    May she rest in peace.

    Holy cow my friend...

I'm so very sorry for your loss... Mothers are such a huge part of our lives.

I'm sure she was a great one to you and your siblings. And here grandchildren will miss her very much.

I don't know what else to say... I'm sorry I don't write very well... But please understand that I sympathize with you (for whatever that is worth)..
God Bless your mum my friend.

If you want to talk just pm me. Not sure what I can do from this end of the world... but sometimes it's nice to have someone to talk with.

I'm so sorry to read what you wrote..

All of us who have had a mother die know how hard this must be for you.

It is good that you express your sadness. Don't be afraid to share it.

Seek grief counselling if you feel that you are not able to work your way through this on your own with the support of family and friends.

    Please accept my sympathy.

There really isn't a good way to lose a loved one, is there?

Seeing the body hurt awfully, but seeing one's loved one in a morgue or ambulance with tubes and masks is pretty terrible as a final image, too. In short, it is seeing the reality of a loss that is the pang that hurts. It sounds as if your mother died the way many of us would choose if we were given the choice, having spent the day with our loved ones, and free of disease, dementia, or traumatic accident.

My own mother's passing was a bit of a catharsis for me, but was not a point of grieving. We never shared the love of a mother and son, but that is another story. By contrast, you enjoyed probably 50-60 years of a very loving relationship. It is now time to appropriately grieve over the loss, and to begin seeing how ever-present she is in your very fiber every day.

Be strong when it is time, and weak when it is necessary.

    Et lux perpetua.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I've been lucky in as much as the loss of my dad and grandparents were expected and we had the time to prepare and say our goodbyes. I can't imagine how traumatic it must be when it's so unexpected. My thoughts are with you, your family and her friends during this sad time.

I am sorry to hear of your loss, and know where you are now, for I lost my mum in October last year. It's a terrible time for you, but remember her for the laughter and joy, for her delight and her joie de vivre these things though nevermore still live on within your memories. The hurt never goes away, but may the happier memories sustain you through this difficult time. My thoughts are with you and your loved ones.

    I'm so sorry, babe.
Recently I heard a 'wise guy' story that I had a party at my home for twenty-five men. It's an interesting story, but I don't know twenty-five men I'd want to invite to a party. ~Joan Crawford

My prayers are with you. I'm very sorry about the unexpected death of your Mother. The death of a loved one is hard, even more so when we don't expect it. My Grandmother died in such a way, so I understand how bad it feels.

Re: A Heart full of sadness

Thank you everyone for your thoughts, prayers and PMs.

It has been so difficult but I am getting there.

I know in my heart that my mother knew it was time. She was just so clear in her memory. It was as if her short-term memory had returned.

She even mentioned the day before what she wanted to do with her money, which seemed prophetic.

Tomorrow, the family will have a one last private viewing before her service on Friday.

This is not something I want to do but it is something that I need to do.

Again, I thank of the JUB team and members for your words of condolence.
