I've finished watching Whitechapel, Afterlife and Green Wing. I loved all of them. I'm on S2 of Spooks, which I'm really enjoying so far. It's strangely addictive. ^_^

The last episode was great and I generally really liked "The Promise". Made me want to see more of Peter Kosminsky's work. And of Christian Cooke's of course ;-)

I accidentally found out that "Misfits" was premiered here yesterday and I was really excited since I've heard you guys mention it. I'm already hooked and I've only seen the pilot so far. Can't wait for the next episode.
I've developed quite a crush on the "weird" guy Simon - those eyes, wow! On the other hand I just can't stand Nathan - he gets on my every nerve!

Oh, and I've recorded the movie "Magicians" on my DVR and I was wondering if any of you guys have seen "Peep Show" and could recommend it?

I think that's sort of inevitable with shows that have many seasons. lol

Sometimes the quality does decline, other times a show over stays it's welcome and fans get bored even if it's still just as good as ever.

On the other hand I just can't stand Nathan - he gets on my every nerve!

LMAO. I think Nathan is great but I agree he's highly annoying.

Misfits is awesome though.

It's REALLY REALLY funny. But mostly in that second-hand embarassment kind of way.

If you like AWKWARD comedy, then you'll probably enjoy it. It does that brilliantly.

^ Thanks! Watched the first 3 episodes. It's not incredibly funny or anything but it's an interesting concept and I find the characters really endearing. Perhaps it's not meant to be a straight-forward comedy and I'm reading it wrong. lol I think I'll keep watching it for now. ^_^

The only other British comedy I'm watching at the moment is Bottom. I hadn't heard of it before (it's kind of old and obscure ? or maybe it's just me) but I'm enjoying it. It's so ridiculous.

Haven't had time to watch a lot of shows the last few months. From what I've seen...

I really loved Spy. Seriously, it's so charming and hilarious. I'm happy that there will be a second, longer series of it. Amazing.



Sinbad is a lot of fun if you like family-friendly adventure/fantasy shows like Merlin and Doctor. I'm loving it so far. And the lead is gorgeous.



Line of Duty was pretty badass, too. Reminds me of Shadow Line. The cast is fabulous in this, tbh. There will be a second series of it, apparently it did very well in the ratings.

I didn't enjoy Line of Duty as much as I did The Shadow Line, but I think that the Beeb set the bar so high with that wonderful show that all programmes since then have a tough act to follow. That's just my personal opinion though.

We're coming into a new season of dramas here, so there should hopefully be a few more good recommendations before too long. One that has just started last week is called Accused. This is actually the second series (I can't recall if this show has been mentioned previously?) Each episode is a stand-alone story and begins with someone on trial. Thereafter we see their story and the outcome of the trial. The first episode has Sean Bean in it and you can see glimpses of him in this trailer

Good Cop and Ripper Street have piqued my interest, in particular. Also I'm interested in The Fall and Top of the Lake.

It's also created and mostly written by one of Britain's best - and one of my favourite - screen writers, the wonderful Jimmy McGovern. His work is often very powerful and rarely disappoints.

I'll be watching Good Cop with great interest when that is shown as it was filmed and set in Liverpool. I hope the storyline is good enough to stop me from place-spotting!

I watch Misfits, used to watch Shamless, Downton Abbey and Big Brother UK sometimes. I'm watching Celebrity Big Brother UK right now. The British version is much more fun to watch than the US verson because on the US version, all they talk about is strategy and playing the game.

Wow, so many shows I've never seen or even heard of! I love British television but I only get to watch what's on BBC America and unfortunately that includes mostly rehashed episodes of Top Gear, Gordon Ramsay's shows and American shows like Star Trek. I did see a show called Copper last night that was really good, it was about a New York detective in the 1860's.

What I am looking for though is information on a show that used to be on a year or so ago about a group of 7 people who were the survivors of some type of end of world scenario. There was a guy who was a murderer, a lady who was looking for her son (who had survived and was in a group of kids who attacked the survivors), a young woman in love with the murderer, and a black man who was like the moral center of the group. Anybody remember the name of this series and is it still on?

I know the one you mean, Call the Midwife, and it is a great programme I didn't like the sound of it before I started watching it, but it turned out to be a lot better than I had anticipated

I live in the USA and have no cable so it's hard to find your shows. Once in a wile I am able to find one on ares and download it. It maybe un-American to say this but our shows suck. I think Hollywood knows this and that is why we watch and try to bring your shows to the US. But it's not the same. They change it to suite the USA and that kills the show. When I was younger I saw Are You Being Served? and The Avengers and I was hooked. I have loved the Brits ever since. I'm so glad I found this site. I do so love to hear of all the shows that are out there. Thank you so much. Gary

There's a new 3-part serial starting tonight called The Secret of Crickley Hall, which is described as a supernatural drama. The trailers look pretty good but they always do make a show look good, don't they? Anyway, I'm hoping this is going to be a good watch.

Another one is Secret State. It's a 4-part political drama and I've seen the first episode, which was intriguing, but missed the 2nd one. I'll have to try and see it on online.

I don't really know of anything else coming up, apart from what might have been mentioned earlier in this thread. As for what's been on recently, has anyone seen Good Cop? Or been watching Hunted? I thought the former was very good but I've been disappointed by the latter.

I don't think you'll be disappointed by Good Cop, or at least I hope you won't be. I haven't seen Switch, I thought about watching it but I think it just didn't appeal. I know I could probably give it a go and catch it and other shows online, but I prefer to watch on tv, either when a show is broadcast or by recording.

Just marathoned S1 of BBC3's Some Girls the other day. Glad there will be another season. I understand the comparisons to Inbetweeners. Its not as funny but it's pretty enjoyable. I had fun watching it.

It seemed like a little bit of both. I thought that the supporting cast had loads of potential and were very funny. Sheehan and Alexander were great. Plus it was nice to see Sheehan play a sexy, straight-man for a change.

We got that in Love/Hate, however that character is put in such extreme circumstances its hard to focus on much else.

Just finished watching S2 OF Threesome. It was even more fun than S1 (which isn't as funny in the beginning). It just keeps getting more quirky and absurd. So good.

Yeah, that one. Too bad they didn't tease S3 of Luther that much but it did get me excited it for it and other upcoming stuff. For example, it reminded me to watch Ripper, saw episode 1 and it was pretty solid. It has potential. Didn't realize it had premiered. ^_^

Yes, there is a Voice UK. I don't watch the Voice UK or any talent shows (American, British or otherwise) but I mostly only hear about X Factor as far as UK ones are concerned. There's also a Britian's Got Talent. lol

It's about a guy fighting for custody of his high iq smart mouthed kid and accidentally winds up working for the CIA after quitting his job to impress his kid. Pretty funny after they focus more on the father as oppose to the manipulating child.

I live in the UK, but I haven't watched all the shows mentioned, just because I don't have much time for TV these days. That said, if my Facebook NewsFeed is anything to go by, it looks like you're in with the majority of the UK when it comes to most of these shows lol

Also, I don't think anyone has mentioned Mount Pleasant. It's not AMAZING, but it's watchable. It's easy viewing. Somewhere between a drama and a comedy. You might like it

I love Spy. The kid is pretty annoying, I agree. Which means that the child actor is doing an amazing job, tbh. You are right, though, the show is really funny.

I highly reccomend The Voice UK, imho it's much better than the US version and i'd rather Danny O'Donoughue, Sir Tom Jones, Jessie J and will.i.am to Christina, Adam, Blake and CeeLo. Christina really gets on my nerves!

What is up with the Midsomer Murders' producer saying that the reason why the show isn't more racially diverse is the fact that it represents the "Bastion of Englishness". I was trying to get into the show, but now I think that I will pass.

From the comments, all the fans seem to be okay with this ? I dont know how race politics are in the UK, but if someone said that here in the US it would have been a completely different story.

Can any English POC explain your color line in the UK? Are you considered English or immigrants, even if you have lived there your entire life? Is there a large enough POC audience that can influence your indigenous programs

This made me think of when Idris Elba won a Golden Globe for Luther. All the cameras panned to English actors getting strange reactions. All except for Kenneth Branagh were giving him the stink eye or perhaps didn't even know who he was. It was a little uncomfortable to watch.
