I'd like to learn more about the virus that caused the plague. That needs to be yet another string woven through the various other stories/drama. We haven't learned much about it since Rick told everyone that they were infected.

    Re: The Walking Dead [merged]

4x14 SPOILERS by far the darkest episode.
Finally Lizzie show her true color and .....

The episode opens with the dream-like scene we saw in the sneak peek of Lizzie playing tag with a walker.

    - It's night time and we see Carol, holding Judith and sitting with Lizzie. They are keeping watch while Tyreese and Mika are sleeping. In the background, we hear Tyreese dreaming, seemingly having a nightmare as he protests in his sleep. Carol and Lizzie talk about this world, how it's changed and what the girls must do now to survive. Carol mentions Sophia, her death, how she didn't have a bad bone in her body.

    - The next day, the group is walking the tracks again.

    - Carol and Tyreese discuss the girls, Carol sharing that she's concerned that Lizzie doesn't really understand how dangerous the walkers are, but that she worries more for Mika, reiterating what she said about Sophia, that Mika doesn't have a bad bone in her body. The group smells a fire in the distance, but guess that it's likely a distance away.

    - Tyreese waits with Lizzie and Judith while Carol and Mika go searching for supplies. Like in the other sneak peek we saw, Tyreese spots a walker in the distance, stumbling on the tracks and approaches it.

The walker trips on the tracks, losing its legs. When Tyreese goes to kill the walker, Lizzie begs him to stop, saying that sometimes they don't have to kill the walkers.

    - While Carol and Mika are supply searching, they discuss Sophia. Carol tells her that it's not just walkers Mika has to be prepared for, it's people too, and there may come a time when she'd have to kill someone. Mika says she can't, that she'll just run. Carol tells Mika that Sophia ran too, but it wasn't enough.

    - Carol and Mika discover a house in a grove. It's surrounded by nuts, fruit, and a small fence. The group decides to take shelter here. While Tyreese and Carol clear the house, the girls keep guard outside with Judith. They are attacked by a walker, but Mika shoots it. The adults come running out and comfort a hysterical Lizzie. As the group spends time at this new house in the grove, Tyreese suggest that maybe they could just stay here and not continue on to Sanctuary.

    - While out, Mika sees the black smoke of a fire in the distance, telling Carol that the fire must still be burning. If it was out, the smoke would be white. They try to shoot a deer, but Mika can't do it. We then see the same opening scene of Lizzie playing tag with the walker, but it no longer has the dream-like quality. It's real and Carol is boiling water and looking outside to the garden when she spots Lizzie with the walker. Carol rushes out and kills it. Lizzie once again goes hysterical, declaring that killing a walker is the same as killing a person and that the walker just wanted to play with her. Carol and Tyreese are shocked.

    - Later, Mika discovers Lizzie back on the tracks with the walker that lost its legs and sees Lizzie feeding the walker a rat. Lizzie tells Mika that she's been thinking about letting the walker bite her so she can be just like them. Walkers, blackened from the fire, interrupt the sisters and the girls run.

They hurry back to the house and through the fence, but Mika gets stuck. She's almost bitten, but the group saves her and the walkers are killed. Carol compliments Lizzie for protecting the group and killing walkers.

    - Tyreese and Carol walk together and discuss this new world. Tyreese tells Carol he's been having dreams about Karen and that he thinks that the world is haunted now. Carol tells him that the dead are all with them now and make them who they are. When Tyreese and Carol return from their walk, they discover Lizzie, standing there with a bloodied knife and hands and Mika, dead on the ground behind her. Judith is alive, crawling on a blanket. Lizzie tells them that she was just making Mika into a walker and Judith was next.

    - Tyreese and Carol try to get the knife from Lizzie, but she pulls out a gun and makes them promise to wait and let Mika turn. Carol agrees, tying Mika up, and then sends Lizzie inside with Tyreese and Judith. After they leave, Carol breaks down. Later that night, Tyreese and Carol talk about what they need to do. Tyreese tells Carol that he found a shoebox full of mice and that Lizzie was feeding the walkers at the prison, too. He also thinks that Lizzie killed Karen. Carol disagrees, saying that if Lizzie had, she would've let Karen turn.

    - Tyreese and Carol finally decide that Lizzie can't be around people and both understand what that will entail. In the morning, as Tyreese watches from the window, Carol and Lizzie walk out to the garden. In the distance, the smoke from the fire is white now. Lizzie thinks that Carol is upset at her for pulling the gun the day before, but Carol assures her that she isn't. Lizzie cries. Carol, remembering Mika's words to Lizzie when their father had died, tells her to look at the flowers. As Lizzie looks away, Carol draws her gun and shoots her. Tyreese continues to watch from the window as Carol breaks down again.

    - The sisters are buried beside the dead children of this house in the grove.

    - That night, Carol pushes the gun across the table to Tyreese and tells him that she'd killed Karen in an effort to protect her people. Tyreese puts his hand on the gun, gripping it, and Carol tells him to do what he has to do. Eventually, he asks Carol if it was quick and she says it was. He then tells her that he forgives her, but won't forget. The dead are part of who they are now.

    - They decide they can't stay at the grove any longer. The next day, they leave, passing the graves, passing the walker still trapped on the tracks, and continue on the path to Sanctuary. As they leave, we hear a voiceover of Carol and one of her lessons to the children during their knife class.
    End of Episode.

    My favorite episode this season...

Carol has been my favorite character for awhile now because I like the depth and growth of her character... and she is a bad ass now...

I think they handled the entire episode and all of the layers brilliantly...seriously great writing. Maybe American Horror Story could borrow the guys who wrote this one...

Not sure if I would have told Tyrese that I killed Karen. It's the zombie apocalypse. People have to do a lot of things that aren't too savory. She needed Tyrese and Tyrese needed her. What if he had turned into a basket case?

Anyhow so much for the girls. Oh, I think those crispy walkers were burnt at the shack Beth and Daryl set on fire!

Mark my words, Terminus is going to be a very bad place. No guards at the gates? Seriously? This is like Hansel and Gretel being led into the witch's oven. "Can I fix you a plate," indeed.

At the beginning of this season I thought the story would go "there". It never did, but now it looks like it might. If not in next week's finale then in season 5. Bon appetit!

Something is majorly wrong with Terminus. I mean, they took pains to show all of the gardens but where were the people???

I agree. I love how Carol has grown from that passive domestically abused housewife to this total bad ass now. She's my favourite character, and the episode where she killed Lizzie was my favourite to date.

I agree and it continues to be a weak factor in the entire series. How gullible these long term survivors seem to be. Such as Glenn walking into a pitch black tunnel in search of his girl not knowing whats in there or if safe exit is available should they get blocked in.
After all the things that have happened to them. Why would they not stake out the place and observe from the outside, spy, make a plan before just walking in?? Basic instinct tells you if you were nomadic wandering the dangerous wild places in the Africa or the Amazon where predators (zombie in this case instead of lions or crocodiles) that you would be very cautious upon coming into some small isolated camp of native people or a village. Because the humans pose a even greater threat then the wildlife. A successful group would be on the defensive all the time, especially in a lawless place where anarchy and self interest far outweigh past morals of another place/time. Dopes of luck more then smart is the reason they seem to survive.

I agree, the writers are asking the viewer for too much suspension of disbelief. I mean, who doesn't have a rendezvous plan after what happened with Andrea? Why did Daryl blithely open a front door at night?

At the tunnel, the writers could have let the group part ways and not showed any evidence of walkers in the tunnel. That would have been more plausible. Eugene could have then easily changed his mind and hatched his same plan to rendezvous.

    That said:

    1) The painting Michonne found in the abandoned house with dead children, looked like Mary and

    2) Mary is barbequing a huge slab of meat behind her. Could it be human?!!

First we have the half-season hiatus cliffhanger finale.

I know, right? And now we'll have to wait until October for season 5! Something's not right about AMC. I remember in the old days, the TV season would start in September and go til about April or May with December in reruns. Then there was a 4 month break and the shows would begin again. AMC goes from October to March for a 6/6 split vs the 7/5 split I remember as a kid.

That said, how has the show progressed the outbreak? We know nothing new about its cause, the extent of it, etc. If that fool Eugene knows anything, he needs to start spillin' some beans.

I don't think I believe that Terminus is where the cannibals are. I do think thats who has Beth, but here's why:

When Tyreese first found out about Terminus, he met a group of then-alive survivors who told them to follow the tracks. They didn't seem to be too devious of people.

Also, they were growing crops. Why would they eat people when they had crops? Doesn't make sense. I don't believe that's cover-up, either. If they're intending to eat anyone who shows up, why even bother faking the plants?

I think that there IS a group that has Beth that intends to eat her, but I don't think it coincides with Terminus.

    Maybe they are omnivores

Other sources of meat may not be safe or increasingly scarce. Remember earlier this season Herschel was afraid that their pigs were the source of a virus that caused the outbreak in the prison. So Rick fed them all to the walkers.

And the painting in the house a few episodes that Michonne found had a picture of Mary (Terminus woman) that someone painted a bloody mouth on. Obviously a warning. And the picture had sunflowers, which Terminus has.

The writers like to fool us. I guess we'll soon find out. . .

Okay, maybe a few too many flashbacks.

And we learn Terminus is a bad place. How bad and what they intend to do with the group? Now comes the long SEVEN MONTH wait!!!!!!

Felt more like a mid season finale than a season finale, imo.

Eh...I am surprised at this season finale...definitely uneven and it missed the mark. The flashbacks didn't even make sense to me and I see no purpose for any of them.

    Where is Carol?...and Tyreese?...and Judith?

I think it could have been written a lot better.

I loved this finale. I thought the flashbacks made alot of sense. They each foreshadowed what went down in present time. Such as Herschel talking about the watch he gave Glenn. The writers did a fine job. Lot's of foreshadowing which is typical of this ******

The rabbit trap scene was a clever foreshadowing to their own demise at Terminus.

Rick's jugular money shot totally surprised me. That was worth the price of admission. I'm sure it also foreshadowed what happens next season when he is confronted with the nature of their new "hosts".

I loved that line by Terminus dude Alex: "People become a part of us. We get stronger." Haha, I bet. . .

Itís not just AMC. And itís all about sweeps periods and adverting dollars.

I love the show and I can live with its narrative inconsistencies, but that mid-season hiatus just eats at me, as it just ends up dictating the flow of the entire season.

I get why they do it; doesn't mean I have to like it.

Any last words on TWD? I'm left feeling a bit jilted. When season 2 ended, Shane had just been killed and the group was chased off the farm with the prison looming in the background. I didn't see any of that coming.

All of season 4 was predictable. We knew Terminus might be a bad place and we even knew cannibalism might be involved. So when they all ended up in the freight car, I thought, "Yep."

Well I thought it's human when she offered meat as let's face it the rabbits around the place were small and we saw all of one deer. But anyone who read the comic don't spoil anything please although I saw a picture of Beth of her cutting her throat but didn't see it happen. I have been waiting on the cannibals for awhile now come on its the south

I just watched the pilot for Breaking Bad tonight, never seen the show before. Gonna marathon my way through 5 seasons. Anyway, I am confused how that show can get by with saying "fuck" and having nudity, but Walking Dead cannot, when they were/are both AMC shows. The season 4 finale of WD would have ended much stronger if Rick would have said "they're fucking with the wrong people" just like he did in the comic. Makes no sense.

Probably has to do with ratings. WD is way more popular than BB as far as I'm aware. Wouldn't want to rock that boat, even if the show does have blood and guts and gore but a simple swear word will make dolts around the globe cry.

But yeah, I felt that moment (hell the whole finale) was actually pretty weak. But my best guess is they're actually building up to a big 1st episode next season, since the premier of this season was like the single most watched episode of any show ever. Cheap bastards

Really? I haven't seen any details. I can't believe they have two werewolf shows -- Bitten and Being Human, the latter far superior btw.

TWD is starting to lose me. When it first started watching, I was watching as if I were in the plague and thinking "what would I do, what would I do?" Now it's more about bad people or people behaving badly. There are so many other layers and nuances that the writers are ignoring that I've enumerated above. The virus is intriguing but being ignored -- there's no discussion about walkers and how long they live or why they live.

Y'all do know that AMC is making a spin-off to TWD, set to start next year, yes? Not much is known about it, but it will still be set in the same timeline with all new characters and a different location. It will not follow the comic at all.

To feed the people’s fascination with (or fear of) a zombie apocalypse, Syfy announced Monday it has ordered a new show based on just that.

The 13-episode series, Z Nation, will follow the struggle for humans to survive post-zombie apocalypse. Produced by The Asylum, the company who brought us the gem that is Sharknado, Z Nation “will take viewers where no zombie has gone before,” showrunner Karl Schaefer said in a statement. “[The show adds] a sense of hope to the horror of the apocalypse — our everyday heroes take the fight to the zombies.”

Instead of picking up immediately after the apocalypse, though, the show will focus on what is happening three years after the zombie virus hits America. Only one survivor of the plague lives on, but he has to be transported across the country to a lab where a sample of his zombie-free blood can hopefully create a vaccine. But — plot twist! — the survivor has a secret that could be the end of them all.

Z Nation is set to premiere this fall.

I am a little concerned that it is being produced by the same people who brought Sharknado to the screen....

Looks and sounds intense. I just wish they didn't show so many spoilers. It shows the walkers attack Terminus, it shows the gang gets out of Terminus, it shows Gareth joining the gang, It shows Beth is still alive. Apparently, much of the mystery has already been removed before season 5 even starts.

The Terminus story looks very brief. All that build-up to it from the entire second half of season 4, and now this trailer makes it appear it's not going to last very long.

What I have heard is that the Terminus storyline is only going to take up the first two episodes, and then they will move forward with the comic book story lines. Notice that at about 2:22, you see a minister. This man is Rev. Gabriel Stokes who is a very important character in the comic book, and whose story is going to be important. As for Beth, since she is not in the comics, it's anyone's guess as to what her story will be.

    "Darryl Dixon May Be Gay"

That's the latest declaration from Walking Dead creators. It is a possibility it will be mentioned in the script.

    Well, imagine that.

    Re: The Walking Dead [merged]

If you watched carefully during the shootout scene at Terminus, where the gang is running from all the gunfire, there is a really brief clip during the fast edits, that pans across a wire fence and you can see what looks like human carcasses laying on the ground stripped of their meat. It happens really fast though and it's easy to miss.

From some of the interviews I've read thus far, I believe some of the actors have stated that the trailer for season 5 is purposefully misleading. In other words, there are several things implied by the trailer that aren't what actually happens. Someone else suggested that the trailer is not in chronological order either.

If you look closely at 36 seconds into the trailer, it looks like Bob gets killed. One moment he's pleading with him, then at 35 seconds the guy has his hand around his head, and at 36 seconds it looks like he is slouched forward with his eyes closed.

That's cool and all, but I would be more concerned how they would work that into the script. One of the things that has frustrated me about the relationships on the show to date is that they seem so out of place. The show kind of starts turning into a soap opera at times and becomes ridiculous. These people can barely bathe as it is, they stink, their covered in blood and guts and sweat and then they wanna go hook up??

This past season in particular, when the Governor hooked up with that one lady in the back of the van, I was like "are you kidding me?!". He just met them like the day before, not to mention they were mourning the death of their father, whom he blew his head off with his rifle. Then you got the other sister and the young daughter sitting in the front of the van, while the other lady is fucking the Governor in the back - meanwhile they're surrounded by zombies? Give me a break, lol.

If they do make Daryll gay I at least hope it becomes a more long term part of the storyline, and not some quick Brokeback-eque hook up scene just for the hell of it.
