Hot showers are what I think I'd miss the most during a zombie apocalypse too.
So, I may be talking about something that has already been discussed. But, remember the psychic dude from season 1? That she didn't show ACTUALLY dying? Is he really dead? Because I don't understand those visions he was having before they abandoned him....
Yeah, I don't know if it was anything psychic. I think it was the virus effecting the brain. That and the Georgia heat.
On a side note, I'm having TWD withdrawal. I guess watching their crappy, scary world made me feel better about mine. I need to buy compendium one!
I haven't started the withdrawal yet. But when I do, I think I'll settle it by watching a zombie film every Sunday until it's back on.
I'm curious to start the comic too. I do miss my weekly stop at the comic book store.
Yeah, I'll be having no withdrawal from The Walking Dead being off for a couple of months, I'll be waiting to play the video game. I can't wait until it comes out. I think they said the first episode will hit next month and you can buy all five episodes for like $23 dollars. I enjoyed playing Back To The Future and I am sure this game will be awesome to play!
But I'm not sure what you mean by "crazy." Crazy as in no longer striving for a sense of realism? If so, I doubt it. The comics, even when things get pretty hectic/morbid, it never gets to the point where it's just all about ~crazy~ happenings. The focus is still on the character drama, questions about humanity, ethics. etc.
People seem to be worried that the show will get too 'cartoonish' with the introduction of Michonne and The Governor in S3 but if they handle it right, it should be fine.
I've heard of people turning to other zombie lore but I'm only interested in Robert Kirkman's perspective. I don't want to get all mixed up in the details!
I mean with the farm you have a ton of fresh air but when you're in a prison you're locked into a confined area which will probably make the show more claustrophobic to some viewers and just the atmosphere will just be totally different from where you were on the farm. If done right it will be more scary because the characters will feel they are in danger because they are in this prison with people who might be inmates or just others who escaped from the walkers.
So then it will raise a lot of questions which is more safer outside with the walkers or inside this prison with people who obviously might be natural born killers and rapists.
It will be intresting to see if anyone turns by just having the virus in them..or it they have to die first.
I think a zombie bite accelerates the zombification process. Hershel's daughter came closest imo without a bite. Maybe extreme stress can trigger the process? However, it looks like part of the process is actual death and then the body reboots as a walker.
I was totally going to buy compendium one but then a reviewer at Amazon said there was an image so dark that they hoped with time they'd forget he/she ever saw it.
Hahah lol! The above made my f in sunday! Thanks!
How has Carl not been bit? That little asshole is always running off somewhere, usually alone.
I was sooooo ready for Shane to go - now Carl has to be next............that kid is getting on my last nerve!! LOL
Supernaturally Charmed One!!!
No! Not Shane! He was one of thed more interesting characters. You need villains like Shane cause zombies don't vocalize their antagonist part. Plus Shane was totally hot.
I'm glad Shane is gone -- tit for tat. I don't like what he did to poor Randall.
Here's one aspect of walker mythology I don't understand. If the breath of the walkers had to be digitally edited so that it wasn't visible during the cold temps during the barn fire scene, then how can zombies make noise? Doesn't sound making require the inhalation of air that's then exhaled? Kirkman and Co. need to tighten up the details imo!
but i rewatched the first couple episodes the other day with a friend and there is definitely some issues with the details. Like in the first episode the zombie girl bending down to pick up a bunny doll... and the mother trying to open the door to where they were staying.. Since then zombies are portrayed as not having any kind of memory or anything that would have them do that.
If the show gets bogged down on warehouse sets to resemble the prison it will go down like all of the cheap scfi channel produced crap. I fear that's the goal to get off location for production cost, you can say your in Georgia but film anywhere. Wouldn't be usual for a corporate interest to cut the budget the junior season once they have a successful product and rely on a couple more years for reaping in the advertisement profits.
By the way that prison cartoon`ish photo at the end was pure scfy channel crap, ridiculous.
They need to stay nomadic in nature to keep the show fresh and introduce new locations with different problems. It will grow stagnant as it was getting at the farm. It wouldn't be how I evnsion keeping a low profile in such a event. You don't want to be horded up in a huge structure like a prison.
I mean George Romero took us their with Dawn of the Dead and the vast shopping mall, might as well have a 24 seven megaphone on statin "we are here, wth weapons and food".
Anyway the forces of nature on our planet still dictate that the dead zombies will fall apart and rot, because that is what happens to dead stuff . Bacteria, insects, and hungry predators like coyote, rats, cougars, & bears aren't afraid of no zombie and hunger will allow attacks. A a pack of starving house pets from Yorkie to poodles will eat the shit out of a slow walker. Hungry carnivores in packs or alone are not like the cow, they will risk life for a meal. A million pit bulls in Georgia running wild will take down a living human too, another threat to the living.
So will flies and maggots take down a walker quickly without they even know something attacked their smelly rotting flesh.
..gators must be having a field day in the canals of south Florida as the millions of walkers stumble into around. Gator loves rotting flesh.
Vultures and other birds of prey must be dive bombing the shit out these walker herds picking them apart. Show some of that shit on the show!!!!!!! There is hope!!!
There will be less walkers and more survival of the fittest of the few remaining humans, who when dead will be walkers but the tide must turn on the millions of walkers to fall apart, at least how organic life works on earth where people breath and drink water. There is a past peak of zombies and the aftermath of doom.
Thus the title "The Walking Dead" who of course are the living and not the Walkers.
If an animal eats a walker, would it not die and come back? Like the ravens in Resident Evil?
I can't remember if they've already showed animals that have died and come back to life. I believe that in the mini episodes that guy shoots his dog but it doesn't show if the dog came back to life as a walker or just the guy putting his pet down because of him being injured by the walkers.
During the beginning most people were becoming so paranoid about this outbreak that was going on and so they were kill themselves after getting bit by a walker, I can't remember the comics as much cause it's been a long time that I read them. I remember the house that Rick came to on the series where he sees the family in their house dead and the guy on the chair blew his head off with a gun.
Probably when a walker's blood is mixed with a living person already infected it makes the process even greater thus making them die from just a single bit. But then I am sure there is another hardcore comic read that might of read the comics 400 times to understand what exactly it's going on. I think in the comics I was just finishing the Prison part.
I think Kirkman is implying that the zombies might have some memory but it's primal and doesn't mean that this memory will prevent the need to feed.
Yah, I think walkers have a shelf life and I hope this fact will be addressed. They can't just walk around in perpetuity. That'd be totally fake.

So, anyone playing the video game?
I make my bed with the stars above my head and dream of a place called home.
I played episode 2 today, and it was much better than the first. Still not crazy about the interface or camera, but the story and game acting was pretty darned good.
Lolz, I'm actually loving the game <3 It's awesome how every little thing you do has an impact!
I can NOT get enough of Carley <3 I would love to see her in the comic/show.
I just wish the game was going on for more than five episodes :/

I hope everyone enjoyed TWD marathon this weekend. There were some good tidbits on the Talking Dead after show. Seems like Woodbury town and the prison will be part of season 3. From everything I hear season 3 will have the intensity that we saw at the end of season 2.
Some final season 2 observations and questions:
1) What did the "22" on Shane's necklace denote?
2) The Christ hanging from the crucifix in the Baptist church where the "bells" were heard in the search for Sophia must have been a prop. Protestants, especially Baptists, rarely have Christ on the cross in their sanctuaries. Then again maybe the church shown was a Catholic one with a prop sign denoting "Baptist?"
3) Are we to assume that all of the dead people in the traffic jam at the opening to season 2 were shot dead? Some looked like they had simply died.
4) And finally the actors who play(ed) Dale, Carole and Andrea were all in Stephen King's "The Mist." Do they come as a package deal???
Can't believe we have to wait until October for the series to resume!!
Saw the Talking Dead and entered the contest to be on the show. *here's hoping* lol
I was most excited about Activision (COD series) developing a game for consoles!
Also, one of the polls asked which weapon they would use as their primary and most chose the Crossbow. =\ If they would only read 'The Zombie Survival Guide' they would see why this won't be a good choice. I have always thought a machete to be the best and it is. I think on the poll, Machete was third. While a crossbow is cool and silent, it's heavy after a while and takes time to reload, as Daryl has been seen to do. Anyway, just mho.
Crossbow would be great for ranged attacks, or picking out just one walker at a time... But if there's more than one, or they are too close... machete is much better. I voted machete in the poll.
What did you think of the clip from season 3?
Now that i have watched both seasons, i can enter this thread, its taken all my willpower to avoid entering till now, i didn't want to know anything before i got to see it. No doubt, i'll shortly be exercising that will again, when season 3 starts. It takes a whilst before i can see it on tv over here.
Absolutely loving TWD, an excellent production with a great cast, and zombies always make for a good story! (done well).
HATED the sneak peak clip. It looked like 70s blacksploitation -- Foxy Brown meets the Zombies, something about what she was wearing, the vivid colors. It looked all wrong and soooooo different than when we first saw Michonne at the end of season 2.
The prison set looks amazing.
the sneak peek was such a letdown
where's the group? we just get to see the newbie slicing off heads
thought Drew Carey was good though
