I've been in the same boat, where, I've said stuff I thought was very profound, and not gotten any responses, and there's been times I've made some dip shit comment half joking and gotten a ton of responses both good and bad.

There have been times I didn't like what I heard back. There were times they were actually right. There have been times where I had to take a cold hard look at myself and realize I was wrong in my way of thinking - even if I wasn't always willing to change how I thought/felt.

There will be those who genuinely want to help, those that want to bait, and those who will be negative no matter what you do.

exactly. it would be cool to be able to read inside people's minds to know what things pisses them off, what excites them, and etc BUT there's no such thing as mind reading. it's pretty much a trial and error thing at the end of day. one thing that i hope at the end of the day is that people don't take this whole thing too personally. even though i do get upset or get angry when i read certain things by a certain poster, i don't HATE the person. however, i do feel that certain posters really do get upset with people on a personal level where they really despise them personally.

but at the end of the day, i think it's funny how everyone gets so worked up online when if everything was offline, all the arguments, drama and whatever would cease completely. everybody would be on some shit. the online personalities DO NOT match the offline personalities. i'm pretty sure that it would be some super happy go lucky party where everybody would be all nervous and scared. everybody would act extra friendly and buddy like trying to get on everyone's good side being totally shocked that people aren't the same way they are online. these online personas don't do any of us justice.

with that said... i confess to seriously wanting a JUB forum gathering involving how many people there to take place. i'd show up. i would also hope for certain people to show up too. i DOUBT that there would be any problems or drama that would transpire either at least with me. i would be chilling the whole entire time. if anybody did come @ me crooked, i would brush it off to the point where they would be embarrassed trying to start a fight. i wouldn't even argue back. more of like "huh"? i wouldn't fight anybody because i can't fight. *shrugs*

Some of the time, you learn from an argument. The debate we had about the pictures is a good example because it was recent.
I would never put any of the people involved in that debate on "ignore".

But some people are mean and nasty 100% of the time. You can't learn from such a person, nor can they learn from you. Discourse of any kind is futile. I put people in these category on "ignore". The Spanish Conquistador and CowPatty were in this category until very recently.

BTW, SS is on ignore, too. Poor soul, I don't understand a word he says.

While I think there are a lot of people in here who are attention seekers, I believe leading by example, they can learn how to behave civilized and converse in a more respectful manor. Granted, it may take months/years, and we may never see it, but it doesn't mean they don't reflect back on it and change their ways.

I used to converse on Gay.com all the time, and have had a few instances where some rude prick from the past would send me a message and explain they were going through a hard time back then and apologize for how they acted.

Without going into a whole huge Sloppy debate, seeing how he spells the big words correctly and the small "easy" ones wrong I'm under the belief he's one of those attention seekers who's too scared to let people get to know the real him. While I currently scroll past his posts not feeding into his games, I have high hopes he'll one day come around and join the rest of us.

I think the ignore feature is perfectly fine, if you're using it because you don't like opposing opinions or criticisms on the stuff you put on here then you're using it for the wrong reasons. I've used it and still do for people who constantly post with trollish behavior or people who have a tendency to say completely ignorant things in threads constantly.

I've taken people off of ignore on here only to be reaffirmed as to why I person on ignore in the first place.

Exactly. I have 16 people on my ignore list. I find reading their posts a waste of my time. I enjoy this place and enjoy Hot Topics so much better with them on ignore. I never had any personal disagreements or run ins with anyone on my ignore list.

I started the Alternate Day Fast diet five days ago. The author noted that a few days into the diet, dieters will experience euphoria. Today I've felt better than I have in years. I feel like I just took a Percocet.

I don't know if this is from the "placebo effect", but I don't care. I'm going to enjoy this high as long as it lasts.

So it must be the 10th day by now...

I bought the Alternate-Day Fast Diet book from Amazon for only $5. As you have correctly noted, they deemed the practice of fasting every other day as impossible in the long run, so the author of the book suggested 500 calories on the down day. Surprisingly, this isn't as hard as it sounds. I keep from eating by sucking on sugarless Life-savers. I get my 500 calories by eating those diet bars, which in fact taste delicious.

Despite the fact that I fell off the wagon those three days, I have lost about five pounds already. My OH wants me to stay on the diet, because he's seen the improvements in mood and has noticed the change in body composition,

You asked me,"How long is the diet supposed to last?" The dieter is supposed to eat the 500 calories every other day until he reaches his goal weight. After that point, he stabilizes at 50% of his normal caloric intake on the down days, as opposed to the 500 calories. (For me, that 50% would equal about 1200 calories.) The researchers found that the regimen improved the various health indices dramatically. For example, they found that inflammatory markers took a rapid, dramatic fall, so if a person suffers from asthma or osteoarthritis, he will get relief from his symptoms in a very short period of time. I can attest to the fact that my mild arthritis symptoms disappeared completely.

There's no doubt that there's something interesting going on inside my body. Several times, waves of euphoria have washed over me, some of them lasting for hours. One day, I was as high as a kite--a situation that lasted all day. Somehow, the regimen seems to enhance brain chemistry.

There are other, less-strict versions of IF that people can try. I have more information if anybody wants it.

while my mom and my brother were all turning over all the bookshelves in the den looking for that fucking 4 legged piece of shit rat that left a trail of rat shit around the shelves, i was too scared to go and help them. i stood all the way on the other side of the living room like a bitch. i am rataphobic. i may act all tough and like i'm going to kick your ass but deep inside, i turn into a pussy in certain situations like when i see mice or rats. oh god. the last time i saw a rat up close was up at the rat trap in my former job at a fast food spot. it was creepy watching it get stuck, wadding around its tail like so.. HORRIBLE.

godforbid that rat comes into my room. i will be screaming in fear.

and last night, i was browsing gory videos of people dying. someone elsewhere actually posted a video of a man getting shot twice in the back of his head and showed him up close dying. i was getting skirmish so i clicked forward to the horrid parts of it. it was gross BUT not that bad as i was able to fall asleep and have a normal dream without it turning into a nightmare. i don't even feel completely affected or having flashbacks of what i saw. it would probably be a different story if i saw someone die in front of me. strange enough, i had a dream where i was outside of my house during christmas time talking with my former coworker about what who got hired and who got fired at my job. it was a female coworker and i had the strange feeling that she was hoping i would ask her out on a date. Ooh... so you have to do that for life though ... it's a bit depressing ...

I asked because when I read you mention it I realized it's what I've been doing for a few weeks (although that was not due to a need to lose weight but rather to save €€€):

In the past 4 years I have been taking about 1kg/year and was only stabilizing at 78kg because I started going to the gym every couple day.
Then, back from holidays where I always eat less and exercise (walk) much more than usual I noticed I had lost those 4kg in 3 weeks. All my money having been spent on holiday I started eating only salad every couple day (light breakfast+salad in the evening is around 500cal intake), didn't go back to the gym, quit pizza () & pringles and reduced cheese/ice creams/diary products... my weight has been stable ever since (around 74kg/163.142pounds)...

But I as wondering what will happen if I go back to my previous habits now, will I just go back to 78? Or gain even more?
Actually I have also noticed this change in diet is easier on my digestion (I guess that's the removal of diary products mainly) but I still feel frustrated at times where I can only have flavoured tea to calm my craving for this or that... so the whole new diet/habit doesn't seem like something I can hold on to for much time, especially as I plan to start going back to the gym...

dunno about the laurel leaves. we followed what johaninsc said about putting peanut butter on the traps and putting that coil thing in the holes and tubing in the kitchen. apparently, we have a bigger problem on our hands because the dun is basically full of holes and the floor basically is made out of sheetwood or whatever. it also doesn't help that my father planted a tomato tree right in front of the house which is adjacent to the den.

my guess is that the tomato tree lured them in to begin with since my brother saw the rat nibbling away on the tomatoes on the table then hiding away when it saw him. man.. the idea of planting a tomato tree right by the house was a stupid idea in itself. i KNEW it was a bad idea but you know, listening isn't what people like to do in this place.
