There are conceited people everywhere in the world, a lot of them get inflated egos because people in their lives let them get away with it, they have sycophants and enablers. BUT, don't let these types get in the way of your happiness. Don't cater to them, but also don't spend so much time dwelling on how much you dislike/hate them. So much unnecessary negative energy, it will make you bitter. Focus on all the people who you think are positive, kind and down to earth. You know what these conceited types would think if they were to find out you were dedicating so much energy thinking about them? They'd be elated, they think the world revolves around them anyway and it would just be feeding in to that...

I don't always accurately know how old everyone is here.. .but I do think you can make usually very good guesses as to who is older and who is younger, so I think I know what you mean. The frequent fluff posting without much substance or with just a gif gets old.

The difference is any thread about something you don't care to read about, you can simply not read.

When they come into a thread where an actual discussion IS happening and then fill two pages with animated gifs back and forth at each other, that's really irritating to the people having said discussion.

Someone complimented my writing today. And that got me thinking about something that happened on Twitter last weekend. I was a judge (among others) for a talent competition. After the Top 3 were announced, one person tweeted "How many times did Brad have to suck off Lex to make the top three?" It wasn't entirely clear if the tweet was meant humorously or with a mean streak. But I retweeted with a response:

"Nowhere near enough."

In retrospect, I'm exceptionally proud of that three-word response. I didn't confront the other guy. I didn't "take a stand". I didn't explain that (obviously) nobody had sucked me off. I didn't succumb to heavy self-deprecation. I kept things humorous, without making anybody a target. What could have been a flashpoint ended up being a oening "straight" line. Everybody laughed about it, several retweeted it, and life went on.

I know you joke around a lot; I'm not without a sense of humor but you also post a lot of substance, too. Plus the battles between you and Lil Bit are most typically amusing text exchanges.

I simply don't get an entire thought or response being conveyed entirely through just a gif by itself, unless the gif itself has a message in it or something. I was honestly trying to get them to explain to me what's up with that because it's not that I'm an old man sitting here hating it because it's something young poeple do--- it's because I sincerely and honestly don't understand it. I've posted before in response to individual posts that were nothing but a gif saying I honestly don't even get what this post is saying. Most of the time I don't.

I think that some people think better through pictures, and other people think better through words.

The only thing that really bothers me about the GIFs is that too many of them will crash a browser. I have my GIFs turned off for this reason.
