Sad that Jeremy had to go, especially since they just found an excuse to get him shirtless often! But his character had run his course long ago, sadly. This was a smart move for the show. The quest to bring back Elena's humanity pushed her further towards the path of becoming a monster... But that's neither here nor there.

It's sad that they had to kill his character on TVD but it was good for the storyline and it allowed Nina Dobrev to bring her A-game in the scenes following his death. I honestly thought she was really impressive there.

Not necessarily. Steven doesn't have any other major projects lined up. The Silas character will likely bring him back considering Jeremy was one of "the 5" and he was killed by Silas. Kill one of the 5 and you have to endure the hunters curse, so he'll be back. The episode was still depressing though. I watch TVD mainly for Rebekah too, she's one sassy bitch, love her.

For some strange reason since Season 3 I have wanted Jeremy and Rebekah together... so now that won't happen anymore. Don't you just love thinking of 'ships to write about and then BANG! The writers do something like this and you visualize your 'ship sinking into the water, this case black abyss.

I had written quite some Jerbekah stories but also some Jeremy/Kol fics, even one where they meet eachother after their encounters with the Grim Reaper and then they get violently ripped apart from eachother in the afterlife... Jeremy Heaven, Kol Hell.

It's a definite loss [seeing that hunk of flesh on the show ] but I won't stop watching until its very last season.

No I think Jeremy is gone for good. This is a bell you can't unring. It would be like Spiderman bringing back Uncle Ben or Batman's parents being resurrected. It's a no go. This week WAS Elena's origin story as a true vampire. With the death of Jeremy she's lost all real reason to be human and that's too important a milestone to be so easily undone. This will go down as one of the key points in her character arc and the episode was treated with such reverence and emotion that they'd never so quickly cheapen it by hitting an undo button. This show is too well written to do something so sophomoric

If Nina, Zach were on primetime television on a major network and not some teenage drama network, they'd probably win awards. Nina was very solid last week. It would be fantastic if Jeremy wasn't brought back though - you're right on the money with her character development. Jeremy's death was crucial/imperative to further her character from the damsel she was playing even in her 'undeath'.

Sadly, I guess the puppeteers working the upper echelons of CW have ultimate control over the stories, though...Supernatural was first to hit us with the deus ex machina Apocalypse horse shit (why I stopped watching), then The Vampire Diaries threw us The Originals. Once you hit the apex of whatever they're fighting, everything goes to Hell shortly thereafter. Can't think of a single show that's handled it well.

I agree on the not-well-written part and that the actors are saving the grace of the show, but I wouldn't give the credit to Nina and Zach. Nina is a great at playing a manipulative bitch like Katherine, but I find Elena to be boring and dull, mainly because the writers are doing a bad job with her, but I am also not convinced by Nina's acting (as Elena!). I don't think that Zach is a great actor, he has the looks but not the acting ability. When Matt was sitting in the car crying, I actually had to laugh ^^ I'm totally team Candice and Kat, they're both totally underrated ) I hope they don't make Elena another Katherine or Damon. And I hope they don't kill off Caroline or Bonnie :P

I like the Originals, but it's actually silly how easily they can be killed now. I mean Elena and Jeremy could take out Kol? Or Matt could kill Finn? Seriously? I don't see big story lines coming for us in season 5 anyway.. They ruined the chance of black-magic-Bonnie and insane-Bonnie will probably end with her death in season 4. And I don't want to see Damon and Stefan fighting over Elena another season, it's getting boring ^^

Well you never know what might happen, it is the vampire diaries after all. Even if Jeremy doesn't come back to life, I doubt his character will completely vanish from the radar, I'm pretty sure Silas has to deal with the hunter's curse which means torment in some way for Silas. I could be wrong though. I do agree that Jeremy's death was necessary to develop Elena's darker side as a vampire but that doesn't mean Jeremy is gone forever. They could write him out for a short time then bring him back at a later stage. We'll have to wait and see.

I am VERY saddened that his character was killed off, but I agree with some of the above posts in that if the writers were to find some stupid way to put him back in the show and "undo" his death, it would negate everything that happened in this episode, and negate the opportunity for further character development for Nina. Also, if you are familiar with the term "jumping the shark" this would be the point that TVD did it. I'm hoping, honestly, for the sake of the show that they DONT bring him back (as much as I'll miss him) for THAT reason.

How can you say that? Katerina Graham is absolutely gorgeous (aside from Rebekha, she is the best looking female on the show).
I can't believe they killed Bonnie just to bring him back. Kat is a better actor than Steven and her character had the most potential.
I'll admit that it was getting a little tiresome listening to the others turning to Bonnie to save the day with her magic,but she was just turning dark. She could have well become the next bad ass. I want her back.

Now that Jeremy's back, what else can they do for his character, aside from making him some kind of supernatural. First he was able to see and speak to Ghosts, then a supernatural warrior...what next?
Side note: Steven is really hot too. I rank him number 1 hottie on the show alongside Zach Roerig (Matt) then Damon.
