The general rule is two unless it is supposed to be "amateur" with a voyeuristic cameraman; AD seems to follow that rule. Since CF has entered the professional studio environment it's safe to say they have two or maybe even three cameras - not all at once but to easier access the action in different positions.

The missing of action off-camera is due to bad editing. For some reason, whoever is editing their videos (my bet is on Connor, since he's expressed interest in video editing) is not so keen on capturing the sensual part and primarily focuses on the penetration.

This is why gay or truly bisexual men should do the (filming and) editing of gay porn - I myself wouldn't know what to focus on in het porn so why should a straight man do so?

I'm of the impression that cf almost always uses two cameras (no more, no less). I think that there were a couple of videos (in CR?) where they had three cameras (because they provided three camera angles on a cum shot). While the number of cameras, and the eye of the cameraman is important, I'm also of the opinion that some of the editors like the closeups more than others. So with the same footage, with some editors you're more apt to see lots of closeups and fewer long shots. Historically, Corbin was much more involved in the actual production (directing and camerawork) whereas this year it looks more like Pete and Connor are calling the shots during the filming. I'm also of the impression that Pete likes closeups more than Connor does. (I don't have any stats to back that up.) In general if you hear Pete's voice at the beginning of a video you're more apt to see lots of closeups, whereas if you hear Connor (or Corbin) you more apt to see more of a mix between long shots and closeups.

One noticeable difference is that historically with each sexual position cf would start with a long shot and then slowly zoom in for a closeup or two and back out again - all with minimal cuts. Some of this year's videos start a sexual position with closeups, with multiple cuts jumping between various closeups, and after a 15-60 seconds zoom out for brief long shots. It's like there is a magnet on the zoom button, the default is a closeup. I don't much care for this style.

If cf had applied this style to the scene with AJ and Ryan by the lake with the horse, we would have never seen the beautiful lake or the trees in the opening footage, nor would the horses even appeared.
