Some recent Nole
Some recent Nole
Now for some pix from my recent trip to the Sarasota Open...though the field was pretty weak (basically take the faces from my Delray trip & subtract about 200 ranking points), I did manage to get some good shots!
Here's recent Serbian Davis Cup star Iliya Bozoljac
I also got 2c Frank Dancevic again (always a pleasure) Frank will also b @ Savannah next week with many of the usual suspects...great 2c Frank back in the thick of things

LOL Love that first pic of Nole. Thanks Tennis. I know it was taken when he hurt his ankle, but it certainly looks like "something else" is going on there.
Ryan showed up @ the last minute to quickly lose his 1st rd match then exited stage left immediately...his brother Christian was around alot...looking forward to the day he practices shirtless in front of cameras...he seems to have a real nice behind (& it seems like something is going on in the front in this pic?)

Had a chat with Indian DC star Somdev Devvarman & asked him to autograph a photo 4 me...he said "wow this was taken back when I was good" I of course replied that he's still good & got a smle from him.
BTW Ryan is in a mother of a slump. Hope he can wake up soon .
I agree Ryan is struggling but everyone in the tnenis world is being really impatient with these young players. They're not near the peak of their powers yet so there's plenty of time.
The pace of Dimitrov's rise seems perfect to me. He's been around for a while now, starting building steadier results towards the end of the year and now it is just a matter of time before he makes a breakthrough against one of the top 4. Today he looked very impressive, his backhand looks to me like it will be better than Federer's - both the slice and top spin - and there's no doubt he will make top 10.
In January I predicted a Wimbledon quarterfinal for him this year, I'm going to take a punt on him winning it next year. Must be worth a bet with the odds as they will be right now.
Disappointed in Dimitrov though I'm a big fan. That's close matches against Djoker, Murray and now Nadull just in the past month or so that he's lost. If he doesn't get that big win soon, it might never happen . He served for sets against Murray and Djoker and threw in multiple DFs .
It will happen, as I said he is still young and learning. The fact he has been as close as he has been is better than some members of the top 10 get a lot of the time!
Another Novak v. Rafa showdown tomorrow! I'll be getting up early to watch it. Rooting for Nole as always in this matchup.
Can't wait. Nole playing some decent tennis as the week has gone on. Just hope it is a good one.
Yay Novak better win this shit .
Fast rising 19 yr old US player Mtchell Krueger getting a bunch of wins on American green clay...winning now @ Savannah
Nole wins MC! What an intense match, especially in the second set.
Novak is now the only player to beat Rafael Nadal THREE times on clay.
Novak is also so close to winning the Masters slam...with all his final appearances in Cinci you gotta figure he will do it eventually. This one was the tougher one for him to get and he just did it. Check.
Nadal is still the favorite at RG to be sure. Best of 5 is something else. May the best man there win.
Stunning performance from Novak. Makes the rest of the clay season so much more interesting. The fitness and the ball-striking of these two is ridiculous! Sad whenever Rafa loses, but I do find myself pulling for Novak when they play.
I want Novak's crosscourt backhand, his groundstrokes really are some of the best the game has ever seen.
After the match he posted this picture back home with Jelena, are you guys imagining what I am imagining happened not long after this picture was taken?
For some of these players...trophy storage must b getting expensive!!!
Fuck yes Djokovic! Fucking amazing!
No falling to the ground and biting the trophy for Rafa today . So delighted. That feeling when a fave beats a player you really dislike is something else. At least Rafa's cute off-court though .
These players also won titles over the weekend
Gastao Elias - Santos Brazil
Iliya Bozoljac & Somdev Devvarman - Dubs @ Sarasota Florida
Carsten Ball - Dubs @ Mexico City w Chris Guccione
Matteo Viola - Dubs @ Santos Brazil w Pavol Cervenak
Nenad Zimonjic & Julien Benneteau - Monte Carlo

Gutted for the Bryans, they can't catch a break
yeah what did happen to the Bryans?
Oh I guess it is not too bad, but they lost that traumatic Davis Cup match the other week, I believe they lost last week having had match points and then lost the Monte Carlo final having had championship points.
You win some, you lose some...though the Bryans used to be super clutch.
All I need is 10 minutes to beat that up, just 10. Damn!!
That reminds me...time 4 some butts!
Novak Djokovic, Nicolas Almagro, Jack Sock, Janko ipsarevic & Nicolas Mahut

I continue to be amazed at how you manage to find these pics. Is that one of Novak new? I am presuming he is having some quality time with Jelena this week

Nadull is a weird one. He complains of too many hardcourt tournaments. His antidote to that seems to be to play every week of the clay season .
Never mind the fact that it's actually immediately after the clay season is where his biggest injury breaks have come (2009, after long clay season didn't play till the US Open IIRC - 2012 after long clay season and first round loss at Wimbledon misses the rest of the season).
It's understandable he wants to play Barcelona as it's in Spain (before someone points that out to me ), but given the past, I'm surprised he doesn't skip it and just play for the home country in Madrid instead. There are two Spanish events. He doesn't really have to play both .

I enjoy watching Nadal play. He really hustles, and his ass is a thing of beauty. ˇFelicitaciones! to him for winning Barcelona (again) today. I hope he wins Paris (again) this year, too!
Delighted to see Rafa win, the sport is all the better for having him back and he belongs in the top 4 and is clearly 1 or 2 on clay. To be fair, it's not his fault he always wins, you should be pissed off no one other than Novak has worked out a way to beat him.
*Yawns profusely*. Agree with dougmic, Novak needs to win RG.
Just a few away from beating Vilas' all time most clay titles
A few recent pix
Also winning titles this week
Bruno Soares - Dubs @ Barcelona w Alexander Peya
Paul Capdeville - Sao Paulo
Tiemuraz Gabashvilli - Dubs @ Savannah w Denys Molchanov
Lukas Rosol - Bucharest
Ryan Harrison - Savannah

Wow, happy for Rosol especially. His Dad died recently. it hink Bucharest was the first tourney he played since it happened. So what a special week for him
The great thing about the top 4 is that they divide opinion. People have their favourites based on style and character, that's why the game is so healthy right now. I don't think there is a lack of depth, I just think the top guys are staggeringly good.
It's great that everyone is so passionate about the players. I couldn't disagree with a few of you more about Rafa. I find him incredibly likeable and exciting to watch. It surprises me that when he plays Novak that I route for Nole and that is how I know who is my favourite player, but I really do feel lucky to be watching this generation and we are going to miss them when they have gone. All of them! I might even miss Federer.
Only because he is the greatest ever on the surface, not because there aren't other decent players!
