Board: Nude man's killing justified

The Los Angeles police commission has determined that an officer was justified in the shooting death of a naked man in Playa Vista earlier this year.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the decision by the civilian board, which judges whether serious uses of force by officers are reasonable, closes the department's internal investigation.

An attorney for the family, however, said the report does not address serious inconsistencies in how the officer and his partner said the shooting occurred.





Early Jan. 14, Aaron Goff, a rookie police officer, and his partner, who had five years of experience, went to Playa Vista to investigate reports of a disturbance and possible theft. They encountered 25-year-old Reginald Doucet Jr., a trainer who stood 6 feet tall and weighed nearly 200 pounds, wearing no clothes.

Jamon Hicks, the family's lawyer, said in earlier statements that Doucet had taken a taxi from Hollywood to his apartment and realized he did not have enough money to pay the fare. Doucet argued with the cab driver, saying he would go up to his apartment to retrieve more cash and the driver called police. It remains unclear why Doucet stripped off his clothes.

Doucet was initially cooperative with the officers but later attacked them, punching Goff.





"It was a devastating punch. And I went down right away," Goff told investigators. "I became disoriented. I thought I was going to lose consciousness for a moment."

Doucet reportedly struck Goff several more times while the officer was on the ground.

Then he grabbed the handle of Goff's gun and tried unsuccessfully to yank it out of its holster. An autopsy later determined Doucet was not drunk or high.

Goff's partner tried to intervene and was punched to the ground by Doucet, who began pummeling the two officers, according to the report. Goff managed to get up on one knee and fired at Doucet, puncturing his neck and killing him.





"He's beating my head. I'm going to black out. Next time he reaches for my gun, I'm not going to be able to fight back," Goff told investigators. "He's going to get my gun, and he's going to kill us both."

In an interview, attorney Hicks said Goff's version of events doesn't match the bullet wounds Doucet suffered. He said coroner's officials concluded during an autopsy that the bullet that hit Doucet's neck traveled in a downward trajectory, which seemingly would not be possible if Goff had been on his knee while shooting.





Hicks did not dispute that Doucet fought with the officers, but denied the LAPD's allegations that Doucet started the confrontation or tried to grab Goff's gun. He also challenged the officers' claims that they were on the verge of blacking out from the blows.

The shooting sparked an outcry from Doucet's friends and family, who said the officers should have used their nonlethal Taser stun guns to subdue Doucet. Before reaching its decision, the Board of Police Commissioners requested a more thorough explanation as to why the officers did not attempt to use their Tasers.

Police Chief Charlie Beck told the board that using a Taser would have been excessive early in the incident since Doucet had not become violent. But when the fighting began, Doucet's attempts to grab Goff's weapon and the strength of his punches meant deadly force was needed, Beck said.

From the statements above, theres probably cause for foul play. those officers are hiding something and i am sure its MURDER.

i hope that CAB driver is proud that because of his 10 or 30 dollar fare someones LIFE was taken.

Hi MonnieJo8!

How have you been? I know you visit the FIVE AND FLY threads a lot, and often
make requests for pictures. I want you to know that I always look for them,
but many times come up empty. I didn't know what to do with pictures
of LDB from Immature, since he was so young at the time. And what
I found of Haywood Nelson was either caps from What's Happening"
or poor, clody, foggy, steamy caps from his shower scene in the
movie "Evilspeak". There was a great episode of the show
"What's Happening Now" where Dwayne and Raj sneak
into a male strip club where Dee is going on her
birthday. They wind up on stage, of course,
and Haywood sexily peels off his shirt!
But I haven't seen that show since
I was a kid, and don't think it
is out on DVD. Too bad!

The only Martellus nudes I've seen were censored. And the nude pic
of Chris Brown, obviously a fake since we've all seen his real dick
picture, was made by JUB legend Tavares, and is still easy to
find on the "Black celeb fakes thread". Worth seeking out!
