LANA DEL REY - CARMEN
LANA DEL REY - CARMEN
I've really come around on Lana Del Ray. For a long time I just couldn't get past those lips... but after having her album on heavy rotation on itunes/ ipod/ ipad for the past week, I'll admit she is a talented song writer and she creates some interesting imagery and and has built an interesting image which I suppose is an idealised version of herself. She's doing good pop music, which is never a bad thing.

LANA DEL RAY NOW NEW FACE OF H&M
Branching out into modeling, Lana Del Rey is the face of H&M’s upcoming fall campaign.
Some artists are a double (or triple) threat, starting off in music and branching out into acting or fashion designing. Lana Del Rey may soon fall into this category, but in a less-than-conventional way. Revealed today by WWD, Del Rey is being featured in H&M’s upcoming fall/winter advertising campaigns.
Other artists bridge the gap between the music industry, which can entail appearing attractive in a video, and modeling, but rather than being a novelty or one-off gig, such as Rihanna as the face of Armani, Del Rey (real name Lizzie Grant) is signed onto Next Modeling agency. The H&M campaign, which has already debuted, is considered her first official modeling endeavor.
Two advertisements, one featuring the “Video Games” singer in a retro-style pink angora sweater, are already published. Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin shot the images. Along with these two, another campaign is scheduled for winter, and Del Ray is appearing in a commercial, singing classic “Blue Velvet,” expected to debut on September 19.
Modeling for H&M, however, is not the singer’s first foray into fashion. Del Rey was the cover girl for British Vogue earlier this year, and Mulberry created an inspired handbag line after her, called the Del Rey Bag.
Music-wise, Del Rey is keeping her day job, and in May, her fourth Born to Die single, “National Anthem,” was announced. The video followed, featuring rapper A$AP Rocky.
Although Del Rey’s North American tour, originally scheduled for February, was canceled, some speculate as the result of her less-than-well-received Saturday Night Live performance, the singer is expected to hit the road in the fall.

Have you guys seen this? It made me LOL like crazy.
Maybe I'm going crazy. I swear I saw a commercial that was around Thanksgiving time with the song, and there was another one I saw a couple of days ago.
The only one popping up is the Nespresso one, though :|
One of them may have been the University of Phoenix one...but I'm sure there's at least one more that's currently out.
You know someone's successful when their songs are being covered by other great artists.
So here's Patrick Wolf's cover of "Born to Die." (I hope you like it!)

Is Lana Del Rey Recording A New Album?
Photographs of Lana Del Rey in a Santa Monica recording studio have raised speculation that the singer is working on a new album, the follow-up to her January 2012 debut, Born to Die (she released the Paradise EP in November of last year).
The new album rumors are churning despite Del Rey’s own claims that her debut full-length might also be her last (when contacted by Radio.com, an Interscope promotions rep could only confirm that she’s in the studio, but was unable to verify the purpose of the recording sessions).
“Oh, I don’t think I’ll write another record,” the singer said to Vogue UK last February not long after the release of Born to Die. “What would I say? I feel like everything I wanted to say, I’ve already said.”
Del Rey has expressed an interest in working in the film industry, telling Vogue Australia (via NME) last year that it would be her “happy place.”
“When I was starting, I had a vision of being a writer for film and that’s what I am doing now,” Del Rey said. “Hopefully I will branch into film work and stay there. That will be my happy place. I’d like to stay in one place for a long time.”
Lana Del Rey is scheduled to embark on a European tour this spring, kicking off on April 6 in Hamburg, Germany, with dates lined up through June 10, when she performs in Kiev, Ukraine.

This is so catchy. I can't get it out of my head.

I don't understand how she broke out with Video Games. I think it's awful. I'm a pretty big fan of Blue Jeans and Born To Die though.
Lana Del Rey - Young and Beautiful (from "The Great Gatsby" Soundtrack)
Lana Del Rey, queen of Alt-Pop, slayer of dragons, visionary to the stars, entered the top 10 of Itunes with her future worldwide smash off the soundtrack of "The Great Gatsby" Young and Beautiful.
With multiple copies of the song for sale combined she is number four on the itunes top 10 and is still increasing.
After having a top five best selling album on planet earth in 2012 she now sets sites on total American domination.
Are we ready? No
Will we ever be? No
All we can do is bask in the paradise.
Lana, gworl, will we still love you when you're no longer young and beautiful?
You know we will.

Well i've racked my brain and i honestly can't come up with anything that comes even near the importance this has in American history.

"Young and Beautiful" is currently my favorite song. It's perfection, just like Lana.
