Hello everyone, just wanted to stop by and let you know I might not be around much for the next few days or so. Mum had a mini-stroke this morning and is in hospital. She's doing quite well though, it's mostly her speech that is affected.

Thank you all for the good wishes. As I said yesterday, it's mostly mum's speech that has been affected although today it seemed to me like her memory has been affected also. Physically though there's not much difference. We should be finding out more about her condition tomorrow.

Mum is doing well, she even managed to write me a list of items she wanted me to bring to her. Naturally the writing wasn't great but I thought it was still quite good. Speech is still the main problem as far as I can tell. Haven't been able to speak properly to any of the medical staff but am hoping to get some answers tomorrow.

By the way, mum is a huge fan of Clint Eastwood, so, if anyone has any good shirtless pictures of him in his prime maybe I can let her take a look?

Mum is progressing so well that it's highly likely that she will be able to come home tomorrow.

Thanks Donnie, unfortunately though when mum was asked about returning home she said she didn't feel ready so it didn't happen today. The therapists are going to bring her home for a short while on Friday morning to assess her here, and, all being well, she could be discharged the same day. I'm hoping that being in familiar surroundings will boost her confidence and make her yearn to come home. I'm not counting my chickens this time though.

OH can I relate to "Christmas Tree" - we have lost a few to ours over the years. He's even tried (and sort of succeeded) climbing up the inside of our artificial tree.

I'm not sure if this is a repeat - was in my Facebook wall, thought it was cute and appropos to your thread.

Hello everyone, sorry I haven't got the time or the energy to respond to individual posts but I appreciate them all very much, many thanks. Just stopping by for a quick update. Mum still isn't home from hospital and I'm not sure when she will be. Waiting on a social worker and some equipment to help her in the house. I managed to email Donnie last night and he is welcome to share that with you all, if he thinks it necessary. I'm doing alright, or at least a lot better than a week go and I'm sure I'll feel a lot better when mum is home.

The baby is doing better today. Hopefully she will continue to improve in the coming days.

Mum came home about 11am and was already pretty tired out. She's been getting plenty of rest today - in between me continuously asking if she's alright that is! lol - and hopefully she will be able to get some quality sleep tonight and show further signs of recovery. Aside from her lack of physical strength which I hope will improve with time, her faulty memory is also worrying me. I'm convinced that she just needs time and plenty of rest to get back to something more like her old self. I hope I'm right.

Lefty, many thanks for the lovely pictures of Mr. Eastwood. However, I don't want mum to get overexcited so I think I'll keep those for myself
