Pc problems, looking for some advice.

Hi guys, been a while from the last time I posted I know but i was wondering if you guys could give me some advice.

    Symptons:

Computer all of a sudden stops, the screen changes a colour and the computer makes a very loud noise threw the speakers, like a loud grinding noise, not the actual computer but down my headset, via the sound output.

I had a problem a few days with my RAM, i've 8GB installed on a 64 bit windows 7 and its been running fine for a while. until 2 days ago when i logged in i noticed on my system monitor it said i had 4gbs of ram, i assumed one stick had, had it. I swaped the sticks around which made no difference. The next day I turned it back on and found it had gone back up to 8GBs again but over the last 3 days i've had these random crashes which can only be solved by restarting the computer.

I may point out these crashed occure when running such games as World of Warcraft, Call of duty.

I'm guessing the crashes are down to the Ram but any idea's are welcome.

I've already updated my graphics card drivers but that has made no difference.

    please help

    James.

I think it sounds like your graphics card has burnt out or your system is overheating in general. The easiest check is to open the side of your computer and place a fan against it to cool everything down.

Assuming your system allows single RAM module configurations (some systems require matched pairs of RAM) remove one of the modules and test the machine for a day or two. If the problem persists, switch to the other RAM module and test.

If the problem occurs with both modules, it's probably not your RAM causing it.

Thanks both of you, I know its not my computer overheating because i'm using an Antec Skeleton Case and i'm using a very good CPU cooler, google it and your see what i mean :P
i'm gonna give the Ram thing a go, i doubt my graphics card is burnt out, i've only had it for just over a year.

    Thanks
