Let's do 2011 Atlanta Pride TOGETHER!!! (Saturday October 8)...

We haven't done this for a couple of years...

So lets do it THIS YEAR!!!

These are the EASIEST of JUB EVENTS to ATTEND -- because ALL YOU NEED TO DO is SHOW UP on time OR late -- leave when you want -- and HAVE FUN!!!

Thundercizzle -- in another thread -- has offered FREE SWAG!!! And Sha has invited us to visit their booth where he will be with some of the performers on Broke Straight Boys -- that is, until they kick us out...

The last JUB Atlanta Pride opinterph and I went to was AWESOME!!!

We all met around 11AMish -- toured the booths -- went and had lunch -- came back and bought the stuff that had intrigued us earlier (and I BELIEVE Gdude might have had a little fun behind the leather booth with Big Leather Daddy ) -- then we went to one of the local watering holes and just generally had a GREAT TIME!!!

It worked so WELL, that I would suggest the same kind of loose itinerary for THIS year...

Anyone Interested???

If so -- please post -- and as the weekend draws nearer -- I'll PM each of you so that we have contact info to make sure that we can all find each other...

I promised myself that this year, after not going to pride for the past 2 years, that I will go to Pride... no matter what! It's over the weekend, so that shouldn't be a problem for me. So, count me in.

Friday night at the jungle. Well, I just checked out their website for details. I guess I will go. Not sure about anything, yet. I haven't been to Jungle in ages!

Unfortunately, my work finds me in Montana this weekend by a big mistake on MY part...

Basically -- all that is required of a coordinator (what I had planned to do) was PM everyone and give them my cell phone number and get y'alls number -- also --find out an estimated time of arrival so that when you got there -- you could find us...

In my absence -- will any of you feel comfortable filling that role???

I arrived down in Midtown via marta around 12:45PM. I was kind of nervous but also a bit excited about the meet and going back to pride after missing it the past 2 years. I walked around a bit to kill some time and then went to the meet-up location.

No one was there, but I had arrived a few minutes before 1PM. It took a bit of time for me to find hotatlboi and reone. They decided to head in one direction to find me, and I headed in another direction to find them. It was frustrating.

We finally got together around 1:30PM. We introduced each other, shook hands and talked a little bit before we started. I was curious as to where MoufOfKhaos was, but hotatlboi told me he was going to be late.

We then very slowly toured the booths. Just walking and talking. I must say they are both pretty cool guys. Very nice and quite sociable, although I could tell that reone was trying to absorb it all in. It was his first pride and JUB meet.

At one point we were walking so slowly that someone pointed it out to us. Thanks as**ole. Anyway, I am glad I brought my camera along because I was able to get some great pictures.

At the half way point of the pride meet, hotatlboi received a phone call from MoufOfKhaos to let him know that he was in the park looking for us. He was off in another part of the park, so we waited until he found us.

I was kind of surprised that khaos brought a camera with him. I thought that I would be the only one with a camera. There were a couple of times where he went ahead of us to take a picture. I liked that since it gave me some ideas of where to take some pictures. I got some pretty good shots following his lead.

The meet ended not too long after MoufOfKhaos joined us. We had walked by all the booths and reone had to get going. So, it seemed like a natural time to conclude the meet. There was one surprise visitor when were just about to leave. Gdude30 came up to us and must have recognized MoufOfKhaos from a prior JUB meet. He chatted with us for about 2 minutes before going on his way. He was looking for gmoney.

After reone left, me, hotatlboi and MoufOfKhaos decided to go get something to eat. We went around to Joe's for a late lunch. It was pretty packed so we ended up waiting like 15 minutes for a table outside and then 30 minutes for our food. But we had a good time.

Overall a great meet. I enjoyed it and enjoyed meeting everyone who came.

I was kind of disappointed with the turnout for pride overall. There didn't seem to be as many people there as in years past.

It was a nice time . I was happy to finally meet some people from JUB since I know there are a lot of members in GA. Everyone was friendly and I didn't feel nearly as uncomfortable as I thought I was going to lol.

I was surprised, and happy, at how family-oriented the whole event seemed. It was an accepting environment and I found that really nice. It was great to be around so many openly gay people and to see all of the interaction between the couples.

Weirdest moment had to be a random guy stopping right in front of me and looking me up and down like he wanted to rip my clothes off. He just said "Hey." No one has ever given me that look so blatantly before...

...Yeah ...

Anywho, I did see a few guys holding signs that said "God will save sodomites" when I was on my way to the park. I kind of chuckled imagining how awkward that probably was for whatever worker had to print/make those signs for them. Fortunately none of that was actually in the park and there were only a few people from what I saw.

I'm curious about the parade tomorrow but I have too many projects to work on to actually go and see it :/.

Today was an experience by itself, though . I can finally say that I've been to Pride when it comes up at school.

I don't know who sha is but I saw one of the BSB boys that I knew at one of the booths and he gave me a hug.

I had a bit too much to drink at Jungle last night and so I was a bit hung over today but other than that I had an awesome time yesterday and it was great to meet gdude and reone for the first time and see the other guys again.

Oh, and I got to meet Brent Corrigan at Burkharts, that was cool.

In retrospect, we should have gotten a group picture, eh? Hah! I enjoyed meeting you guys(some again), and Gdude was a shock to me - at least this time around he felt comfortable enough to talk to me.

I've got all the pics on my facebook page that I took and sadly, because of work, had to miss the parade - but! I did have a nice time aside from the waiting at Joe's(PROTIP: next pride i'ma have to head to The Vortex where it's not so crowded).
