Re: Don Quixote Appreciation Thread
Don, or Pops as he is known to me has been an absolute lifesaver for young Benderboy here, and his kind words and consideration have done much to keep me, if not on the straight path, at least on the bloody path, love you Pops.

- Constructive
- Positive
- Encouraging
- Sharp as a whip
- Kind as a nun - you know, the one who drifts by when you're sitting there deep in thought, mouth full of Big Chew, guilt reverberating throughout your ribs after Sister Sheila Sassacus' shellacking for those dirty stories you accidentally turned in with your homework, when suddenly the soft flaps of a humble fabric catch your ear, and you turn, and yes, it's her, the mysterious sole sister who'd rather flash a smile than thrash a Kyle, and she leans close to your ear and licks your fuzzy earlobe, slowly, wetly, from the top to the lobe, and finishes with a playful flick in the center, then whispers "thanks for sharing your creative juices with us" before slipping away into a flock of puppies and disappearing from sight, leaving you delirious with sexcitement as you run away to play with your pen once again, after a quick stop in the holy bathroom stall, of course.
These five qualities are what makes Don the magnificent literary beast we are all so grateful to have prowling the hallowed halls of the stories forum.
You are an inspiration to all of our students of writing.
Except the one you ate last November.
That was bad.
We had to call the parents, Don.
They really didn't care, but making that long-distance call was expensive, man.
So let's not have that happen again, shall we?
To Don!!

Re: Don Quixote Appreciation Thread
According to a well-known online encyclopaedia, Don Quixote is "a retired country gentleman nearing 50 years of age, who lives in an unnamed section of New York state with his niece and a housekeeper".
Sounds a little suspicious to me. Explain yourself Sir!

Considering I'm about as eloquent as a bag of dirty rocks, you'll have to take my meager "DQ FTW!" as a great sign of appreciation.
Quick question... Where does the name Mr.Blizz come from?

Re: Don Quixote Appreciation Thread
Thanks, everyone. I'm not quite sure why Leftykins felt I was in need of the thanks, but it's appreciated.
Taz,
One of our members from up Portland way, Gwailo, decided that one of the shortened nick names for me, Don Quixote = DQ = Dairy Queen (Lefty particularly enjoys adding the "queen" moniker)
Dairy Queen is a US soft-serve ice cream, hamburger restaurant.
Their most successful frozen confections is the Blizzard - a mix-in form of soft-serve w/ you name it - maybe crushed oreo cookies, gummie bears, or other assorted treats.
So, from Don Quixote to DQ to Dairy Queen to "Blizz".
Everyone was having so much fun with the new moniker, I decided I was game, and changed my tag line.
http://blog.dairyqueen.com/blizzard/...or-blizz-menu/
I tweaked "Blizz" and modified a famous line by Sidney Poitier in "The Heat of the Night" -
He is a famous, ground breaking black actor who made it BIG at a time when prejudice still ran strong
in this country. In the role, he was a homicide detective from Philadelphia who went down South to help solve a murder - the "whiteys" on the force were treating him like a "boy", as was the custom in those days. He made it very clear that HE was in charge, by saying "They call me MR. Tibbs", emphasis on "Mr."
Now you know.

Good Evening, Gang.
Thanks for stopping by - I didn't even make it out here this morning.
Or most mornings. Stay up "late", get up later . . .
Lefty, I think they have taken both on rare occasion, but it really does work best if they're kept separated.
As for the honeymoon, they've lived together for over two years - I think they've been there/done that. And, he's teaching 3 courses this half of Summer Session - yeah, school was supposed to make 2 early, 1 late, but NOoooo.
They will survive. We did.

Thank you, Mr. Hare.
But, 'tis better than that for me.
My son's getting married on Saturn's Day, you see.
And today was my last at work for a week.
So, now, I must have needs supplies
for the reception seek.
(Means I've got to get the galvanized tub from my Mom's
for the pop and wine, get some ice bags in the upstairs freezer
and clean out cars, make them shine.)
