    Electronic Music Fan Anyone?

Does anyone here listen to electronic dance music? Ever since I got into electronic, I was hooked. Let me know if you listen to these artists/music/go to festivals.

Personally, my next electronic music festival will be Nocturnal Wonderland 2011 at San Bernadino. If you're going, let's meet up!!

Here are just a FEW of the artists I like. Check these guys out!

    Above & Beyond
    Afrojack
    Calvin Harris
    Armin van Buuren
    Dash Berlin
    Avicii
    Chromeo
    A-Trak
    Wolfgang Gartner
    Cosmic Gate
    Deadmau5
    Daft Punk!!
    Gareth Emery
    Eric Prydz
    Kaskade!!
    Dada Life
    Jack Beats
    Super8 & Tab
    BT
    Swedish House Mafia
    Tiesto
    Steve Aoki

These are literally only about 10% of the DJs I listen to. If you like beats and rhythms, you should give these guys a try. I promise you will like at least a few of these artists. If you want more, let me know...I got tons!

I'm a big fan of electronica and the artists you mention are also my faves!!!
I already collected some of their albums, remixes, and singles.
    Best to mention are:

    BT - These Humble Machines
    ATB - Trilogy
Armin Van Buuren - A State of Trance
    Thievery Corporation - Versions
    Freemasons - Unmixed
Blank & Jones - Relax (Edition One)
    Schiller - Leben (Life)

I would also recommend Dirty Vegas, AeroSoul, Cinephile, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Massive Attack, And If, Tiefschwarz, Paul van Dyk........and many more!!!!

    Re: Electronic Music Fan Anyone?

    AWESOME!

samaji, I listened to both those tracks and they're legit!! So cool how you're involved in the scene and have connections. I'm trying to DJ myself, and started a few months ago and it's still all so complicated for me. I'm starting off using Virtual DJ and only mixing for now and it's pretty hard using a computer. I went to a record shop and played with the Pioneer CDJ's and it's too much fun and a lot easier, yet harder to mix. I'm sure you know what I mean.

zunkian, I LOVE Dirty Vegas! and saw Paul van Dyk live (which was amazing). Every other person you named, I don't really know and will definitely check out, as you have fine taste in music from the artists' albums you named.

Are any of you guys going to IDENTITY FESTIVAL by the way? Type in IDENTITY FESTIVAL IN GOOGLE. (I can't post urls yet)

It's only $20 this Wednesday for 20 hours! If they're near your city, I HIGHLY recommend you buy your ticket and go!!!

    Re: Electronic Music Fan Anyone?

Don't listen to music as much anymore, but when I'm in the mood for EDM I usually look for lives sets.

John Digweed, Danny Howells, Nick Warren are a few of my favorites. The Forth really got me into downtempo.

Nick Warren's got some nice mixes at http://soundcloud.com/djnickwarren/sets
Alex Whalen's got a huge variety of mixes at http://alexwhalen.typepad.com/podcasts/
bless him for giving out free music.

gourami, nice!! John Digweed is pretty good I actually to see Sasha live and was pretty sick. Would love to see Digweed live, heard he's crazy live. Will check out Nick Warren and the others you mentioned. You should get back to listening to music. I don't know how your life isn't colorful without.

syntax, I'm not really into tech but I still got respect for it. It's not that I don't like it, it's just I never got into it. I like tech-trance though! Even though that's not what you're talking about..haha..but thanks for your sharing. Will get into it more

No worries! Stick with this thread and you're BOUND to fall in love with a bunch, assuming there's enough interest to keep this thread going. Literally hundreds of new tracks are released every single day, so it shouldn't be hard to keep the thread going lol

Hey what's up Oscar! Yeah, pretty much what PATMAN said. Just stick to it and you'll love! I will keep posting old AND new tracks that I just can't stop listening to. You should research on all these artists mentioned here as a start. Most of these DJs are the mainstream electronic superpowers right now!

That's a pretty sick lineup. That will be amazing!

I am in Ottawa, Canada, and on Canada Day there was a Electro music festival, and it was just a few hours long and we got Tiesto, Laidback Luke and Calvin Harris. This city has never seen anything even remotely close to that before, it was friggin AMAZING!!

It was my first time ever attending something like that, and it was easily the best party I have ever been to, bar none.
Now I want to go to Montreal next year for Bal en Blanc - it's a HUGE festival with nothing but the biggest names. And Montreal is only a 2hr drive.

Anyways, I am babbling now, because I am getting myself all riled up! lol

I will definitely make a huge post of my top favourites Hopefully tomorrow!

Whoaaaaa that's a trip! I discovered a remix by M.I.A. the day before!! I love M.I.A. before she releases MAYA. The Paper Planes days and before were her best.

Here's an interesting fact, DIPLO from Major Lazer, produced most of her tracks back in those paper planes and before dayss. They had a relationship going on but it got bad so they're like enemies now? Nevertheless, M.I.A. definitely is someone in her own style.

Here's the remix I discovered. (You could download for for free too!)

Also another track I LOVE from M.I.A. w/ Timbaland.

    Also love Galang.

WOW! WHAT AN NICE LINEUP AS WELL! Calvin Harris is literally one of my favorite DJs of ALL time. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LAIDBACK LUKE TOO! Seen him live couple times and he never seems to stop to amaze me with his DJing skills. I've been to Vancouver before to tour but never Ottawa. I'm sure that festival you went to was insane! WHOLE different level of partying no? Tiesto, Laidback, and Calvin. Love all 3.

I've only really been getting into electronic music in the last yea-2 years. I like a mixture of dupstep, dnb, house, etc.

Chase and Status, mostly just the songs with Plan B though.
Nero is probably my favorite dub group. Alana has a awesome voice.
    B-Complex is pretty godly.
Mt Eden is up there was well when it comes to dnb and dub.
    Skream/Magnetic man.
College/Kavinsky have that 80's electro feel to them and they're both fantastic. Heard of College through that new Ryan Gosling movie trailer 'Drive'. Great stuff.
    Prodigy of course.
    Burial.
Example isn't electro, but 'Shot Yourself In The Foot Again' was produced by Skream. And 'Stay Awake' was produced by Nero. Good tunes if you don't mind british rap.
Katy B, she has a wonderful fucking voice and I watched her live on the Itunes festival and she carries it very well. Pretty good electro/dance/pop.

And other stuff as well. I love the stuff.

Yeah I've only heard a couple song with Katy B.
Chase & Status I know but never really got into. I hear they're legends in their style.
B-Complex, Kavinsky and Example, I will get into.

    Skream is classic.
MAGNETIC MAN is SICK! Wish they had more tracks out.

Prodigy I hear is beast, but never really got into also.

    I LOVE MT. EDEN DUBSTEP!

NEROO Has GOT TO BE my favorite dubstep group of the moment. They are KILLING IT right now with their productions. Skrillex is also having a big year with his clever productions.

    DUBSTEP ARTISTS I ALSO LOVE:
    EXCISION/DATSIK
    FLUX PAVILION & DOCTOR P!!
    DOORLY
    RUSKO
    JAKWOB
    CASPA!!
    ZED'S DEAD
    12th Planet

Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed (Jakwob Remix) CHOREOGRAPHY
LISTEN TO THE WHOLE SONGS ON ANOTHER YOUTUBE CLIP!
MIKE SONG FROM AMERICA'S BEST DANCE CREW - KABA MODERN!
THIS GUY IS KNOWN FOR HIS TUTTING AND ISO'S

MY FAVORITE DUBSTEP SONG: KID SISTER - PRO NAILS (RUSKO REMIX)

Natalia Kills - Wonderland (PeaceTreaty Dubstep Remix)

Oh for the raves of the early and mid 90's.

Sasha and Digweed have been my DJ's du Jour since then and I was lucky enough to see them play live when they toured for their Northern Exposure collaboration (the first one).

If you've never heard Sasha's solo act with Airdrawndagger then do yourself a favor and at least listen to Magnetic North. He's a "soundscape" artist.

Also John and Sasha's mix of Gus Gus's "Purple" on the second Northern Exposure is brilliant.

Hey! Yeah, Sasha is amazing. Funny you say that, I got into Sasha by listening to his Airdrawndagger album! Sasha is indeed so unique with his sounds. It's like an adventure when hearing his set, as I couldn't help but literally stay for his whole set from start to finish when I saw him live. There was never a time in his set where I said to myself, alright now let's go to another stage. He had me there the whole time. Wish I could see Digweed live too. I hear they're just indescribable when DJing together.

I wish they came to California more often. I REALLY want to see Sasha's V_rtek show. It looks too epic!

    THIS is original for SURE.

When I got into dubstep I really liked the more 'louder' 'grimy' part of it, but I'm liking it less and less lately. I still like skream and a lot of what nero does because I think in a lot of their tracks they don't over due it. Same with Mt Eden, I like his stuff because it just seems as it's just another part of the song and not overbearing.

    Re: Electronic Music Fan Anyone?

Also - David Guetta has always been a DJ I like, but never LOVED his stuff; it was always too pop-ish for me. Too top 40... But now he (with Afrojack) has finally released something I am loving!!

Some Youtube links for this song have been getting removed, so get in a listen ASAP:

Hey what's up guys! Long time! PATMAN, lovee most of those tracks too! (The track Nadia Ali, Alex Kenji - Pressure (ALESSO REMIX) is my fav of the moment!)

Also I'm COMPLETELY on the same page with you when it comes to David Guetta. I saw him live at Electric Daisy Carnival 2009 (RIGHT before he got mainstream) and he was BUMPIN!!! (Cause he played a lot of his old tracks). Right now he's more mainstream and connecting house/pop/hip-hop together and that's cool and all but he was better when he did his own thangg. Like these:

David Guetta - Love is Gone (Fred Rister & Joachim Garraud Remix)

David Guetta - The World is Mine!

ANYWAYS, I'M GOING TO IDENTITY FESTIVAL AT SAN DIEGO THIS FRIDAY! FINALLY!!!!! SO STOKED!!!! BEEN WAITING FOR WHAT SEEMS LIKE FOREVER! Hopefully I will record some stuff and share part of my experience there! In the mean time, check these guys out, heard this for the first time today by seeing them perform this at MTV VMA's Pre-show and I got hooked!! A little pop-ish, very nice synths and feel good music. Good blend I'd say.

haha, I was going to post again to ask how could the thread die? haha

Love both those Guetta tracks. The World is Mine was one of my original favourite songs when I REALLY started getting into electro/house music... Love it. And I love that Cobra Starship song too! In fact, it's one I never got to downloading... Think I will do that right now. LOL

    Re: Electronic Music Fan Anyone?

EVERYBODY! I just came back from Identity Festival San Diego, and it was AMAZING! All the artists played all the songs that I wanted to hear so I couldn't have asked for a better festival experience! Everyone had good vibes, all the stages were CRAZY! (ESPECIALLY the DIM MAK/Rockstar Stage)

This was my ID Fest schedule:

    Booka Shade
    The Disco Biscuits
    LA Riots
    Datsik
    Afrojack
    Steve Aoki
    Pretty Lights
    Kaskade

MAN! ALL the DJs that I saw played all of their hit songs and I was going NUTS! Also Afrojack, Steve Aoki, and Kaskade all played new/unreleased songs!

It was so cool cause there were also so many special appearances of the DJs at different stages! Afrojack was stuck in traffic and we were waiting for some good 20 minutes but Steve Aoki was filling in for him until he got there so it was AWESOME! Afrojack also came to the DIM MAK stage when Steve Aoki was playing. Le Castle Vania also came to the Advent Stage when LA Riots were playing. I would have to say my favorite was either Steve Aoki, Afrojack or Kaskade. I REALLY CAN'T CHOOSE!! Below are video and pictures that I took!

Here is a video that I took of Steve Aoki playing his NEW SONG WITH TIESTO! at the DIM MAK/Rockstar stage. (Sorry for the quality; it's from my Android).

STEVE AOKI & TIESTO - TORNADO! (NEW!)

    Booka Shade! LIVE!

    Skullcandy Main Stage

    Waiting for The Disco Biscuits

LA Riots! at the Advent Stage

    DATSIK!

    FREE ROCKSTARS ALL DAY!

STEVE AOKI filling in for AFROJACK until he got there.

    Hey shyguy, and others...

I thought I would bring this thread back to life - it's been gone for 6 months - wayyyyy too long.

In that time, my list of names I have seen live has grown exponentially, culminating with Bal En Blanc which was this weekend in Montreal (I stayed true to my post above where I said I wanted to go to it!!) - unbelievably good time!! It included Armin Van Buuren, Markus Schulz, Fedde Le Grand, Ferry Corsten, Ben Gold, Steve Angello, Arty, Nadia Ali singing live, and many others... One amazing night.

What have you guys seen, and what are some new favourite tracks??

Benga anyone? One of the first dubstep musicians?

and of course most gay people know and love Crystal Castles

If you ever have the chance, see these people live because it's one huge teen orgy really. I got three rows of people piled on me because I fell on the floor, repeatedly pulled this girls hair on accident, and almost puked. It was a great experience
