    Blondie albums

Which is your favorite Blondie album? Mine is Plastic Letters for Detroit 442 and Youth Nabbed As Sniper. Next comes Blondie as I like the whole album, then Eat To The Beat. The two newer albums I don't play as much, but I like Screaming Skin, Maria, Under The Gun (Live), Double Take, and Rules For Living.

Tell me about your Blondie love.

For me it doesn't get any better than Paralell Lines. One Way or Another, Picture This, Fade Away and Radiate, 11:59, Sunday Girl, I'm Gonna Love You Too, Just Go Away...Love. So much love.

Second place goes to their self-titled album, because you gotta give props to X Offender.

I sang X Offender drunk in a jail cell! There was a two way speaker in the cell and luckily the cop listening found it funny.

I got that on a K-tel album back in 1981. Loved the song then and I still do. And yeah.. still sounds... fresh. Not dated at all.

I've listened to "Eat to the Beat" more than any other album I own. "Atomic" is just one of the many incredible tracks.

I don't think they ever got the respect as artists and musicians that they deserved. Debbie Harry has a great voice, Chris Stein is an amazing guitarist with the "solo in the can", Jimmy Destri wrote some great songs for the band - and Clem Burke is a mother fucker on the drums.

Holy cow! I haven't seen this video since it first came out and that dance! I used to dance like after I saw this video way back when. This is definitely one of their best songs if not THE best. Her vocals were at their peak with "Atomic." "Die Young, Stay Pretty" is also a favorite and "Hangin' on the Telephone."

I love Blondie, but I've never liked "Atomic" at all. I do love the "groove" of the song. But the opening sounds tentative. The lyrics sound like placeholders, like they jotted down some dummy lyrics and didn't get around to writing better ones. And the song overstays its welcome - I'm always tired of it by time she gets to the ending "oo, oo, atomic" repeats.

I'm apparently alone in this assessment, though.

They have so many songs I like, so my list of favorites keeps changing. Detroit 442 and Union City Blue are always in the top five, though. I like the intro she does for Die Young Stay Pretty live on Eat To The Beat. "We'd like to congratulate all of you who made it from the 1970's to 1980. But for those of you who didn't make it...Die Young Stay Pretty.

For years I didn't know what the 442 stood for. It's not an area code here. I thought it might be UAW Chapter 442.

Then I saw a show on television where they were putting a 442 engine in a car. When they said "442" my brain connected it to the song immediately. There was also a muscle car named the Oldsmobile 442.

Ahhh - the glorious Debbie Harry. She may have looked like a 21 Y/O sex kitten in the 'Atomic' video - but she was already 35 at at that stage. I always thought she had one of the most fascinating faces in rock and an incredible stage prescence. Strangely enough, Blondie also hit the big time in Australia pretty much before they made it anywhere else in the world.

Unbelievable - she turns 64 this year, still doesn't look it (tho' I'm sure she must have had 'some work' done...but, who cares? Loved their music then - still love it now. I can remember Parallel Lines (1978 ) like it was yesterday.

Oh - and how many people realise that the 1981 song 'Rapture' is generally credited as the first ever rap song to make #1 on the US charts?

She sounded fine on the live Isle of Wight clips. I don't like what the producers did to her voice on this clip. Still, I don't like any of the voices on the radio nowadays and I'm sure it has a lot to do with what happens in the studio. Maybe younger people who are used to that will like it.

Blondie on Beyonce, Longevity & New Album 'Girls Of Panic'

Groundbreaking New York band Blondie has been pushing genre boundaries for nearly 40 years. Led by iconic frontwoman Debbie Harry, Blondie was a pioneering force in the new wave and punk scenes of the late '70s and early '80s, quick to experiment with sounds from reggae and rap. The band has been awarded for its adventurousness with international acclaim, four chart-topping Billboard Hot 100 singles, more than 40 million albums sold (according to Nielsen SoundScan) and a 2006 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

After some delay, the band released its ninth studio album, "Panic of Girls," in the U.K. this past spring. The release arrives in stateside Sept. 13, both physically and digitally, on Noble ID, the band's own imprint, with distribution by EMI. Harry, now 66 and going by Deborah, spoke to Billboard about the new album, the industry and staying ahead of the curve.

Oooh, I encountered her once. And she talked to me!

So I'm walking this down long hallway when suddenly this rambling blond chick walks out one of the random doors along this hallway. She's gibbering on and on and on until she finally turns around, takes one good look at me, and blurts out, "Oh, I thought you were someone else."

I gave her the finger when she wasn't looking.

    And that's my Blondie story.

    She is sooo petite!

I saw Blondie a couple of years ago at Lovebox Festival. The band were absolutely brilliant, and she sang her little heart out. That was SUCH a good day.. Beth Ditto, Blondie, Soft Cell, Scissor Sisters, Kelis.. Ah, Lovebox, I'l be back in the park in July for more fun to be had and memories to be made...

Debbie Harry is considering calling time on Blondie, says bandmate Clem Burke

But Burke says 'nothing is finalised yet' and the band are due to release a new album later this year (2013)

Blondie drummer Clem Burke has revealed that singer Debbie Harry is considering bringing the band to an end after 40 years.

"Debbie is 11 years older than the rest of us, so it's on her mind," 57-year-old Burke told the Daily Mail. "We've tried to keep it going for as long as possible, but it's not just up to me. Nothing is finalised yet, but obviously there's no Blondie without Debbie Harry."

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Harry told the newspaper: "They are in a hiatus at the moment. They will do some tour dates next year. Nothing is confirmed yet."

Blondie completed an extensive UK tour earlier this month (July), including a set at Isle Of Wight Festival, and have a run of North American dates scheduled during September and October. The band are due to release a new album called 'Ghosts Of Download' later this year and the lead single, 'A Rose By Any Name', which features Gossip singer Beth Ditto, was released on iTunes last month.

The legendary band formed in New York in 1974 and went on hiatus eight years later, shortly after the release of their sixth album 'The Hunter'. Since reforming in 1997, the band have toured regularly and released three studio albums: 'No Exit' (1997), 'The Curse Of Blondie' (2003) and 'Panic Of Girls' (2011).

Blondie's Chris Stein Reveals Trove of Rare Seventies Photos

On August 9th, Blondie guitarist Chris Stein returned to the decade that launched his band, opening an exhibition of his photography at the Morrison Hotel Gallery, Sunset Marquis Hotel, in West Hollywood. Debbie Harry, Joan Jett and other survivors of the Seventies underground music scenes in New York and L.A. depicted in the pictures joined him to remember how it all began.

"Chris was the one who taught me how to relax in front of the camera," Harry recalled to Rolling Stone, sitting with her ex-boyrfriend Stein as guests crowded into the small gallery. "I didn't think I would really enjoy doing it until he started shooting me. We had an intimacy. It was never that serious. It was just fun to do."

Some of those same pictures were among the first that many fans ever saw of Harry, who began appearing on international magazine covers once Blondie exploded into the mainstream with their 1978 album, Parallel Lines. "It was a really wonderful time, a lot of great music, and I was living my dream," Harry said. "I was in a touring, working rock & roll band that really got up people's noses."
