Maxpowr - I recommend you finish the book and then watch the series on tv. You will be surprised how much of the story from the books makes it onto tv.
The books do get better. After a while, you will be able to keep up with the changing storylines. It was difficult for me too.
Watching the series on cucirca, the books are 12908312908 times better imo, but the show is great too, just the magic of books are always better for me.
The cast is full of great looking guys and girls. Loving the tit and dick shots >
Tyrion is so much better than in the book though.
If anyone's interested though Alfie Alan who plays Theon (the dick shot guy) was naked on stage before this, you can see the dick shots in google images. To someone who said he was 7'' flaccid... emmm what? x)
Did anyone else get their new book today?
Yes I've got it, I must have pre-ordered it at some time in the past because it showed up in my kindle queue at midnight last night.
I'm in the first chapter as we speak. I bet I don't get much sleep tonight.
I got mine when Barnes and Noble opened. Loving it.
So I finished book 5. Well, It was written as well as all the others, but frankly I'm a bit horked off by the cliffhangers, and the lack of resolution of anything, I begin to wonder how GRRM is going to finish at the rate he writes books, because this story isn't ending with the next one.
That said, y'all should read the whole series!!!!
The actor playing Robb Stark, Richard Madden plays a gay character in a new show called Sirens.
Yeah, the actress they got to play Brienne the Beauty isn't near homely enough. Maybe they'll use makeup.
I also don't particularly like who they chose for Margery Tyrell, but maybe that's because the Ann Boleyn character from the Tudors worked my last nerve and I'm projecting. I certainly hope it isn't the actress.
Oh yeah, Melisandre looks perfect, I hope she can act.
I just finished Game of Thrones today (the book) and I have Clash of Kings eagerly awaiting my reading on my desk. I understand the unfinished plots in the book but I still have one burning question that I hope nobody spoils for me...
WTF is with the bromance between Jon and Sam?
^^Sam is like a wounded puppy. Jon is simply watching his back because he knows that left on his own, Sam wouldn't last a week on the Wall. Jon is in big brother mode--despite the fact that Sam is a few years older than him.
^^^ I understand the pretense behind the relationship. Maybe I am jumping to conclusions, but since the night watch swears off all family, love/sex, children etc. and don't become eunuchs, I figured they were pretty much gay for each other or at least most of them were. Speaking of gay, I find it a bit "queer" that GRRM uses that word a lot in the book.
^^Yeeeaah, not so much. I mean, I don't doubt that it's happened before, but in the book it's a not-so-well-kept secret that a good number of brothers patronize the brothels of Mole's Town. I think the bromance is more your interpretation than it is an actual thing.
So I just watched the series on HBOGo and I have the books here ready to read.
I'm a little girly squeamish with the animal slaughtering and ripping out of innards but otherwise I am hooked for the long haul.
Season 2 cannot come soon enough!
For those who don't know, the show has cast two new characters for the next season: Gemma Whelan will be playing Theon Greyjoy's big sister, Yara (formerly "Asha"--the rename was done in order to distinguish her character from the wildling prisoner, Osha); and Nonsa Anosie shall be playing the part of Xaro Xhoan Daxos.
I freakin' love this show. The imp is my favourite character by far. Bring on season 2!
Some more eye candy coming our way for second season. They have cast Jaqen
^^A man approves of the actor chosen for the role. Perhaps it shall come to pass that the coming season proves itself superior to its predecessor. A man can only hope.
I just started reading the books. I'm not really interested in seeing the series, though. Maybe when I actually read all the books.
So far so good!
More casting for Game of Thrones. Can't wait to see the 2nd season.
In the middle of reading the 5th book, and I have to say this is one of the hardest book series I have had to read. He changes the name of characters, which makes it confusing. And then reference a lot of characters who had a very minor role in the early books. It is hard to keep track of who is who.
The first season was alright, but they never had enough extras, which made a lot of scenes really underwhelming (ie. Khal Drogo's "horde"; the Hand's tourney)
Hmm, I missed the lack of horde, I was too busy staring at Khal Drogo's ass.
I have to say though that I was underwhelmed with Loras Tyrell and Renly. Loras was too effete and Renly too something, I can't quite put my finger on it, but the book versions are way hotter.
Jeez. I just finished the 5th book, and I have to say I am a little disappointed. To me, it seems like nothing ever gets resolved in the series. And it just seems to continue on and on, and his descriptions and names of the knights just expands more and more.
Does anyone know when the next book is supposed to come out?
Loving the books, I started by watching the whole TV series and am now having a little break before starting book 3 part 1.
To anyone getting into it now I would recommend watching the first 3-4 episodes of the TV show, then moving to the books for the full story. Watching the first few episodes of the show will give you some imagery to put to the characters and the world.
It's Lord of the Rings the series. I love it so much.
Brb gonna get all the books.
Peter Dinklage wins Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series Emmy.
So glad for Peter Dinklage! Wish Sean Bean had been up!
I probably should watch the series now.
I wanted GoT to win more!
Lannisters always win.
