Also let's not underestimate how much someone you think is super sweet in interviews and in front of the camera may be fantastically fake. Martha Stewart for example.
She brushes her off and her smile does not falter at all. Anyway, Mariah came from very humble beginnings and she has always seemed to be very aware of that. She's just also seems very aware of how rich she's become as well, which is fine when you work for it I think.
She's a huge supporter of gay rights also, so she has that in her favor, and she has never to my knowledge used it to garner publicity or to seem edgy.
Strong, confident woman? Must be a bitch.
Yeah I'm not exactly the kind of person to fly out of my way to defend a celebrity but I think judging someone because they don't ooze with fake, effected nicery and bubbly sweetness and saying they must therefore be an aristocratic bitch is the same sort of mindset that gets all into which Real Housewife hates which one and who's a bitch. It's all fake. You don't know these people, lol.
You can be strong, confident and assertive and not have to forgo your manners. I am an assertive person when the situation requires it, but I try to be polite and courteous and I expect the same from others regardless of their gender. For me, 'keeping it real and fresh' is most often the easy way out because it requires the least amount of self-restraint/self-discipline in tough situations-- not to mention, it is often counterproductive because it draws attention away from your concerns and on to judgments about your behaviour/character.
But, yes, often women who are opinionated, confident and assertive do get called a bitch simply for having a mind of their own and making themselves heard regardless of how polite and tactful they are.
Thanks for linking to the gif. Does that lady not realize Mariah is very serious about her photos.
I think that person is one of her employees trying to give her a message on the red carpet. Or maybe not, I see that she's carrying a little camera with her.
I actually really like Mariah, despite all of the rumors about her diva ways. She seems pretty warm and charismatic albeit a little obsessed with her appearance. Her and Nick and their twins are so adorable together.
Mariah makes me laugh. I don't know why.
Whenever I see her being a "diva", I just find it funny. She seems so oblivious to the fact that she's being what I call "extra".![]()
A diva oblivious to their audience is as foolish as Maria Antoinette saying 'Let them eat cake'!
Mariah is hardly oblivious to the image that she's selling haha. She's made jokes about it in some of the interviews that she's done. And yes, her family is adorable! Outwardly they appear to be the most normal Hollywood family that I've seen.
^
You are so wrong for that.![]()

Madonna - MDNA World Tour making of
I cannot believe I don't have this song. And I call myself a Madonna fan.
I don't even own Erotica despite having 18 albums and a 160 songs of hers in my iTunes library. Including Celebration and The Immaculate Collection. How do I not have Rain?
Erotica is $5.99 on Amazon MP3s. I'm buying it right now.
^ LOL shame on you!
I think you'll like the album (not on first listen), but it's definitely a grower. And quite underrated! Hope you like it!![]()
^Agreed. There are a couple songs off Erotica that I enjoyed from the first listen but overall did not love the album. After a couple more listens I found myself loving the album. I own two copies of it now.
Happy Valentine's Day! I'm decorating our home in red, setting up candles, and laying down rose petals. Loading love songs on the ipod for tonight. What's your Madonna V-Day song?
^ That'll do.
Found this stunning photo, thought I'd share.

Gwyneth who was (i think deliberately) blaring about her friendship with Beyonce (at about the time that it was rumoured she was on the downs with Madonna) must be shitting in her size - 0 dress when in the Oprah next chapter interview, B mentioned she looked to M for inspiration.
Good pick! I wouldn't have thought of this one Huntneo!
Not surprised
Madonna has been named the biggest money maker in the music industry - with her world tour helping her take home almost $34.6m last year.
Billboard Magazine's annual list of 40 top money makers put the 54-year-old Material Girl top for the second time in five years.
It said she earned an estimated $32m - more than 90% of her revenue - from her 88-date MDNA tour, which was the biggest tour of 2012.
Madonna, who also led the list in 2008 due to her tour income, was the only woman in the top 10.
Taylor Swift, who took the top spot last year, fell to 15th place as she has not been touring recently.
im a bit confused here. M earned only 34.6 mill last year? what period did this cover? im sure she earned more than that from mdna tour alone. btw, what percentage does she get from her tours anyway?
34.6 million might be her net income from the tour, after paying the dancers, musicians, moving costs, stadium costs, etc. Touring ain't cheap.

MADONNA TO APPEAR WITH ANDERSON COOPER AT #GLAADAWARDS IN NYC, 3/16
Madonna will appear with journalist, author and talk show host Anderson Cooper on March 16 at the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York, presented nationally by Ketel One Vodka and Wells Fargo, GLAAD announced today. The Associated Press broke the story.
Cooper and Madonna are longtime friends who have both used their careers to raise support for LGBT people around the globe.
"Madonna has been a passionate spokesperson and longtime supporter of gay rights. She has embraced LGBT people around the world on many occasions," said GLAAD President Herndon Graddick. "From speaking out against bullying to raising support for marriage equality, Madonna has always been one of our community's strongest allies. We are honored to have her stand with GLAAD and Anderson Cooper."
GLAAD will honor Cooper with the Vito Russo Award at the New York event. The Vito Russo Award is presented to an openly lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender media professional who has made a significant difference in promoting equality. Previous honorees include Ricky Martin, Rosie O'Donnell, and Elton John. The Award takes its name from legendary HIV/AIDS activist Vito Russo, who was also one of GLAAD's founders.
"By sharing his own experiences as a gay man, Anderson has reminded millions of Americans that LGBT people are part of their everyday lives and an integral part of our cultural fabric," said GLAAD President Herndon Graddick. "He continues to raise the bar and set a new standard for journalists everywhere, and I'm proud to call him a friend."
Good Morning America anchors Lara Spencer, Josh Elliott, and Sam Champion will host the GLAAD Media Awards in New York, presented locally by Delta Air Lines. The GLAAD Media Awards are presented nationally by Ketel One and Wells Fargo.
The GLAAD Media Awards ceremonies will be held in New York on March 16, 2013 at the New York Marriott Marquis; in Los Angeles on April 20 at the JW Marriott; and in San Francisco on May 11 at the Hilton San Francisco - Union Square. Additional Special Honorees for each city will be announced in coming weeks.
The 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards are executive produced by Marc Honaker, Director of Creative Development at GLAAD, and by Josh Wood, founder and president of Josh Wood Productions. "I am very proud that my company is producing the GLAAD Media Awards this year alongside such great collaborators. I have always been a fan of the organization and the important work GLAAD is doing to make the world a better place for the LGBT community. The fight is not over in the United States, or globally, and I admire GLAAD for inspiring and changing opinions through media," said Wood.
Emmy Award winning production designer James Connelly will design this year's set across the three cities. Acclaimed producer and editor Brett Henrichsen will also contribute to this year's GLAAD Media Awards.

$34.6 mil is just her earnings through music. She probably made a lot more from her other business ventures, which Billboard doesn't cover.
FanofFiction is also right in saying that $34.6 mil is her cut. Her show has a huge production and a large staff that has to be paid as well.

I'm not sure where that $1000 figure comes from lol, but my close gf purchased floor tickets (quite close to the stage) for somewhere in the $350 price range (mine was the same price--but it was a gift). Madonna's tickets can be quite overpriced, but it's manageable if you save up.![]()
You know what, I think the $1,000 range was from a scalper selling tickets to a sold out show, $350 is a lot, but not as bad as I thought.

So, I'm on vacation right now. My husband and I are staying at a hotel, going to a day spa, relaxing... when I get this frantic phone call from a friend saying that Madonna is sending cryptic messages to fans via her twitter and facebook accounts about a "secret project". Any idea what's going on?

^ You were robbed! LOL
But seriously, I love that movie...and I hate that so many people go in hard on it with the criticism. Gonna watch it this evening.![]()
I liked it as well, except the ending was so sad.![]()

But I guess it's still a pretty good deal since it's a UK copy coming all the way to Australia postage-free.
Edit: I've just noticed the US edition is rated R18 (UK is only 15) and got an extra four minutes.....to save the world perhaps?

I'll have to look into that.....
I like it too (saw it on TV) but THOSE ARMS!![]()

I think the criticism of S.A. is unfair - her acting is really good.....cause she's playing a rich bitch.
<OH NO HE DI'UNT!
Yeah, I cried at the end.
