From TMZ.COM:
Might be a good time to check for airborne swine ... because Elton John's husband has finally stopped TRASHING Madonna ... and has begun to sing her praises.
Of course, David Furnish fired some nasty shots at Madge back in January she beat out Elton for Best Original Song at the Golden Globes -- calling the singer desperate and narcissistic
But on his way out of the Abbey in West Hollywood last night, Furnish insisted there's no more bad blood between the two ... telling the paps, "I think she's a great artist ... she's an inspiration to all of us."
When pressed about the sincerity of his comments -- Furnish said, "Seriously ... I love her."

Its on multiple lists even on billboard itself. MDNA flopped here, but still went 7XPlatinum in a few countries.
From wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madonna_(entertainer)Madonna (born Madonna Louise Ciccone /tʃɪˈkoʊneɪ/ chi-koh-nay; August 16, 1958) is an American singer, songwriter, actress, director, dancer, and entrepreneur. She has sold more than 300 million records worldwide and is recognized as the world's best-selling female recording artist in history by Guinness World Records. Considered to be one of the "25 Most Powerful Women of the Past Century" by Time for being an influential figure in contemporary music, she is known for continuously reinventing both her music and image, and for retaining a standard of autonomy within the recording industry. Critics have praised her diverse musical productions which have also been known to induce controversy. Billboard ranked her at number two, behind only The Beatles, on the Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists, making her the most successful solo artist in the history of the chart
Congratulations Lady Madonna.
This lady is a shrewd business woman. She is the rainbow queen of reinvention. She should do the next album as full MDMA and really be a major influence of ray of light with Dance music used in a new form.
In 2012, she was crowned the "Greatest Woman In Music" by VH1.
A year ago I met her in a market that sells American food not far from where she lives in London. I never ask for autographs and usually do not say anything to stars and respect there privacy. However this time I went over to her and said thanks for the music Ms Ciccone she said thank you. Later someone went over and said Hi Maddy she was not smiling. She is a very nice person.
Is she a bitch?
She so doesn't care, she started a whole fashion trend in the entire 80's and was the biggest artist of the decade. The tour was met with strong reaction from religious groups for her performance of "Like a Virgin", during which two male dancers caressed her body before she simulated masturbation.[51] The Pope asked the general public and the Christian community not to attend the concert.[73] A private association of Catholics calling themselves Famiglia Domani also boycotted the tour for its eroticism.[74] In response, Madonna said, "I am Italian American and proud of it ... The tour in no way hurts anybody's sentiments. It's for open minds and gets them to see sexuality in a different way. Their own and others"; she declared that the Church "completely frowns on sex ... except for procreation."[75] The Laserdisc release of the tour won Madonna a Grammy Award in 1992 for Best Long Form Music Video.[76]
The Immaculate Collection, Madonna's first greatest-hits compilation album, was released in November 1990. It included two new songs, "Justify My Love" and "Rescue Me".[77] The album was certified diamond by RIAA and sold over 30 million copies worldwide, becoming the best-selling compilation album by a solo artist in history.[78][79] "Justify My Love" reached number one in the U.S. and top ten worldwide.[37][80] Its music video featured scenes of sadomasochism, bondage, same-sex kissing and brief nudity.[81][82] The video was deemed too sexually explicit for MTV and was banned from the network.[81] Madonna responded to the banning: "Why is it that people are willing to go and watch a movie about someone getting blown to bits for no reason at all, and nobody wants to see two girls kissing and two men snuggling? ... MTV has been good to me, and they know their audience. If it's too strong for them, I understand. Although, half of me thought I was going to get away with it."[83] The second single, "Rescue Me", became the highest-debuting single by a female artist in Hot 100 chart history at that time, entering at number 15 and peaking at number nine.[77]
just a matter of time before some other female solo pop artist will be taking that spot i think.
I thought Mariah Carey had this spot locked up for good and was close to passing Michael Jackson. The only songs I like by Madonna are Frozen, You'll See and La Isla Bonita
Holiday and Vogue are my favorites !
1. Impressive Instant 2.Bedtime Story 3. Jump 4.Music 5. Hung UP 6.Love Profusion 7. Nothing Really Matters 8.Masterpiece9. 4 Minutes 10. I'm addicted
She has more dance #1's then any other artist in history. Fuck every single from MDNA charted #1 in the clubs/dance. Turn Up The Radio spent 3-4 weeks at #1.
43 #1 hits on the dance chart.
How is this news? This has been established for a long time, but your topic title is misleading. Because, you forgot to note a few things:
1. She ranks #2 on the Hot 100 Artists (this has to do with singles performing on the Hot 100)
2. She does not have the most #1 singles on the Hot 100 for a solo artist (Mariah Carey holds that distinction with 18)
3. While I love me some Madonna songs (Vogue, Frozen, Papa Don't Preach, and a few others) this distinction doesn't make her history's second biggest artist. Billboard only tracks an artist's performance in the US. Furthermore as previously stated this is about Hot 100 performance.
4. Madonna is ranked #16 for album sales in the US. Among female artists, she ranks #2, trailing Barbara Streisand (again, US only). She might drop to #3 though as Mariah trails her only by 0.5 million units and her upcoming album will probably allow her to pass Madonna if it does reasonably well.
5. Should Madonna sell 0.5+ million more albums in the US, she will become the #15 ranking artist in terms of albums sold in the US as she currently trails Bruce Springsteen (who is #15) by just ~0.5 million album sales. Then again given Mariah's upcoming release Madonna will probably be pushed down to #17, so her passing Bruce could just bring her back to #16 again. Either that or she will trade places with Mariah again and push her back down to #17.
6. The biggest artist in the US are probably the Beatles since they rank #1 in both album sales and Hot 100 performance.
Cheers.

All time??? Does Mozart count? Beethoven?
Sadly the quality of the music "she" makes does not live up to the hype.
Queen! Congrats Madonna. Well deserved
@ BreakTheIce - Wow you know your stuff, care to tell us who the rest top 15 is then, I know its probably a couple of Google pages away but you probably know it
Madonna is yesterday's news.

I think Madonna is very smart. While academics, lovers and haters debate about her, I think she's just way ahead of everyone.
Madonna rocks. The fact that todays little starlets are still compared to Madonna is proof of that. And they all "borrow" from the Madonna play book; copy cat music videos, similar fashion choices, and even ripping her melodies for their hits... It would appear she is anything but "yesterday".
Madonna is musically immortal now. Even 10 years from now if she decides to release new music and tour she will earn 100+ mill in the year, guaranteed.
Or, she could simply chill and take a year off and still make money.
^She has done that before btw.
If Madonna had a penny for every time she's been declared "over," she'd be a multi-millionaire.
Oh wait....![]()
All the love...
i'm feeling it. Thank you all--from a Madonna fan!![]()
Madonna is the queen. Even the Beatles forsaw her as the goddess of music with their song Lady Madonna.
LOL @ THESE MADONNA MEMES.
Well played!![]()

Let's see Elton do that
Superstar was a HORRIBLE choice as a single for 4th singles from MDNA!!!
Okay so, not the biggest Madonna fan but this guy I'm seeing frequently loves her so I decided to check out her music. I'm not a really big fan still but I really like some of her songs. My top 10 Madonna songs are as follows:
10. I Don't Give A
9. Music
8. Ray of Light
7. Hung Up
6. Girl Gone Wild
5. Take A Bow
4. Dance 2night
3. Frozen
2. Vogue
1. Papa Don't Preach
I don't think I'd ever want to see her in concert for 2 hours or something but I do like these songs and a few others. I do appreciate the fact that most, if not all of her music is pop and not really pop mixed with other genres like RnB or Rock, etc. It's actually the same reason I very much love Kylie, but Kylie and Madonna's music is very different. In short I feel Kylie's music is much "happier" than Madonna's. So I'd rather dance to something like Spinning Around/Can't Get You Out of My Head/Get Outta My Way before I'd dance to Madonna's songs.
But yes, Madonna is cool in her own way

Saw the MDNA tour on Tuesday. It was really good. She kept us waiting 2 hours while she watched the debate but she seemed friendly. That was the 3rd time I saw her. I saw the Confessions tour and I saw her at her best in the Who's That Girl World Tour. That was my first concert. Memories.
Madonna came to Indonesia once and it was too perverted
I prefer Kylie's work over Madonna's. Only enjoy about four Madonna albums (True Blue, Like a Virgin, Ray of Light, Music). Madonna's current problem is her inability to connect with youth. Haven't been to a Madonna concert but I wouldn't hazard to assume she's rocking the 25+ demographic.

I see no reason to choose between Kylie and Madonna. They seem to coexist without intrusion. If I had to choose though, it would be Madonna. I just haven't heard enough Kylie albums cover to cover to compare her fairly to the Queen.
I love them both, but I've loved Madonna for longer. Actually, I think Kylie's more recent music is having the reverse problem of Madonna not appealing to youth. A lot Kylie's long-time fans keep ripping her apart for being in her 40s and singing "silly pop songs" like the ones from Aphrodite, and also Timebomb. Especially the Impossible Princess stans... I don't get it.
Madonna's attempts to appeal to younger audiences are a lot more transparent though. I don't think many are buying it, and it's turning off some of her older fans too. The fan favorites from the last two albums -- "Devil Wouldn't Recognize You," "Miles Away," "Love Spent," "I'm Addicted," "Gang Bang" -- have a huge difference in lyrical depth from the first two singles of each album.
I could somewhat agree on the Madonna singles thing after listening to her last 2 albums (which I don't think are that bad) I don't get her major single release choices. I really like Dance 2night, Miles Away, Voices, Beat Goes On, Masterpiece, etc. over Give Me All Your Luvin' & 4 Minutes.
Madonna and Kylie seem to have a similar fan base because they are similar in style when it comes to music and fashion. But their songs are very different and that's where they seem to diverge. I prefer Kylie a lot more.
Kylie's releasing The Abbey Road Sessions this month, and will release a re-make of On a Night Like This on December 17! And she's reportedly also going release her 12th studio album next year.
^ Ugh we desperately need a Kylie thread. I want to make one, but don't have the patience to keep it running.![]()

I think it's 2018 that it expires. She signed a 10-year, 3-album, 5-tour contract with them while she was still with Warner, as both legs of Sticky and Sweet counted toward Madonna's touring obligations with Live Nation. MDNA was the first album and third tour, so she's got two of each left.
Anybody else watching Madonna on The Ellen Degeneres show?
