Sorry sweetheart, but there is a reason that people don't pick chihuahuas as attack dogs. And you're exhibiting some classic chihuahua behavior here(meaning you seem to think you're bigger and badder than you really are).

Re: The Official MADONNA Discussion Thread!

Just outside the top 10, Madonna roars onto the Hot 100 at No. 13 with "Give Me All Your Luvin'," featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. The first single from Madonna's 12th studio album, "MDNA," due March 26, blasts onto Digital Songs at No. 7 (115,000) and Radio Songs at No. 28 (44 million).

Like Clarkson, Her Madgesty enjoyed a Super Bowl spotlight, having performed "Luvin'," along with portions of her past smashes, at the big game's halftime festivities. The track also received special attention from Clear Channel Media and Entertainment's more than 50 monitored pop stations, which played it at the top of every hour from Friday at 9 a.m. ET until kickoff Sunday night.

"Luvin' " marks Madonna's 56th Hot 100 appearance, tying her with Dionne Warwick for the second-most visits among women. Only the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin (73 entries), outdistances the Queen of Pop and Warwick in the category.

The No. 13 Hot 100 entrance of "Luvin' " ties 1992's "Erotica" for Madonna's fourth-highest. She arrived at loftier ranks only with "Ray of Light" (No. 5, 1998), "You'll See" (No. 8, 1995) and "Frozen" (No. 8, 1998).

It's not a hot topic. It's an inane topic. If there was an "Inane Topics" subforum here on JUB perhaps your thread would have fit in a bit better.

Madonna follows the teachings of the Kabbalah. She's not a Satanist, otherwise her final message wouldn't have been "World Peace". Black is not necessarily the color of Satanists. Catholic nuns and priests also wear black.

Kabbalah is a set of esoteric teachings meant to explain the relationship between an eternal and mysterious Creator and the mortal and finite universe (His creation). While it is heavily used by some denominations, it is not a denomination in and of itself; it is a set of scriptures that exist outside the traditional Jewish scriptures. Kabbalah seeks to define the nature of the universe and the human being, the nature and purpose of existence, and various other ontological questions. It also presents methods to aid understanding of these concepts and to thereby attain spiritual realization. Kabbalah originally developed entirely within the realm of Jewish thought and constantly uses classical Jewish sources to explain and demonstrate its esoteric teachings. These teachings are thus held by kabbalists to define the inner meaning of both the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible, תַּנַ"ךְ‎ ) and traditional rabbinic literature, their formerly concealed transmitted dimension, as well as to explain the significance of Jewish religious observances.

Sorry Huntneo, I didn't see that post the first time! I heard 30 second clips of Girls Gone Wild, Turn Up The Radio, and I think the third was Superstar...

Sometimes it's hard to tell from thirty seconds but... I didn't like Girls Gone Wild at all. The third song was really bad... but Turn Up The Radio was alright... Just alright...

Beyond that of course; Masterpiece and GMAYL. Both of which I love!

I also think it's horrible, and I like her songs as recently as Confessions on A Dance Floor. Very disappointed with this latest song from her.

I find this song boring and dull. She needs to find new writers who can come up with good melodies and hooks and then add her name to it so she can get credit and $$$ from the song writing.

It also sounds like parts of the song are doubled over with a different singer who can sing well correcting her notes.

Re: The New Madonna song is Horrible

As a life-long Madonna fan...No, it's not her best work, by far. Actually, I'm really disappointed with the new song. (When it hits Nicki and M.I.A.'s parts it's actually pretty fun, but it's so little. She barely used them).

I'm also disappointed with the new video. It kind of just feels like she's going through the motions.

I thought she would go for a Kylie-esqe vibe...and bring out some of the homo-erotic undertones in Football.
So much she could have done there...

I know she likes her 'irony' and being 'tongue in cheek', and it does have a fun, goofy, light-hearted "Material Girl" vibe...but it just doesn't quite hit the mark. At all.

And why? Because I know Queen Maddy can do so much better.
Yes, I have high standards, but that's because the Pop Icons I love - like Janet, Kylie, and Madonna - have set the bar so high, I expect it from them.

That being said, I do look forward to the album (I like the preview... It seems like it's going to have a light-hearted, club feel). And the cover has a very 'Kylie X' era vibe...

But truthfully, she seems to have more of a sparkle in her eyes when she talks about her movie, W.E., than when she talks about new music.

In an interview with Interview, Minaj commented on her sexual image again stating, "I made a conscious decision to try to tone down the sexiness, I want people—especially young girls—to know that in life, nothing is going to be based on sex appeal. You’ve got to have something else to go with that.

She just appeared on the Super Bowl. Not hard to break records with publicity like that - generic song or not.

This was not a "godly" apparition - this was great marketing.

exhibit A of what happens when you dance and (try to) sing at the same time when you don't have the lungs to do so. you huff and puff into the mic, gasping for air while relying heavily on playback.
I'm sure halftime show viewers really want to hear those breathing noises. so shut up already about the lipsynching already.

Re: The Official MADONNA Discussion Thread!

#13 is actually an amazing debut considering the leak. And the Superbowl was really irrelevant for the song's debut because the charting week ended literally four hours after Madonna's performance when the biggest day of sales for GMAYL were on Monday so far, which counts for this charting week. It was not added to radio or available for purchase until Friday, so GMAYL debuted at #13 based on three days of sales/airplay rather than the full seven that every other song on the chart had. It will be this full week of airplay/sales that will show how high GMAYL will go, most likely.

I so hope it will hit #1 as it would be awesome to see her at the top again, but it's been unable to hit #1 on the iTunes sales because the single was reset after MDNA's pre-order offer ended when the new charting week began. Which really SUCKED because she was literally about to overtake Kelly Clarkson to claim #1 on iTunes when GMAYL got reset. And if she doesn't hit #1 this week, I think Adele is going to block her off after she wins eight million Grammys on Sunday. :/

A real good singer who is secure can just stand at the mic and sing and be amazing, she doesn't have to put on a whole show. And if you want to do a show and sing live tone down your dancing so you are not out of breath.

What Madonna did was shit and proof that she is only marginally good in the studio. I bet they have to record her syllable by syllable and splice it together, She can't sing live, she's not a singer.

The song would be 100X better if Nicki Minaj and MIA had more than 30 seconds combined. Totally wasted. I really hope just Nicki and MIA decide to make a song together one day. Their rap styles compliment each other perfectly.

And as gay as I am, DAMN, Nicki looks absolutely gorgeous in the music video. That cheerleading get up has to be her best outfit to date.

I think it's sad people still attack Madonna about her age. They only do it because it is such an easy target. They all know good and well though that she looks great for her age. I'm not even a Madonna fan, but respect should be given.

and hence the difference between a singer and a performer.
and lets be honest, NFL halftime viewers want a show not some lady standing at the mic and "being amazing"
I don't know about you but when I watch the superbowl halftime I want a spectacle with dancing not toned down dancing. Furthermore, how long was that halftime show? 12 minutes, yea.
People seem to stress how special an occasion the Superbowl is...which is exactly why Madonna chose to lipsynch at the halftime show...as opposed to her other shows where she does sing live.

and its lovely that you "haven't heard" of "Hung Up"
but no one really cares because it still broke records regardless of what you know or don't know.

I haven't heard any of the other songs aside from "Masterpiece", which is actually growing on me.

I have read comments on "GGW" and "TUTR", and they were NOT good. People are totally trashing them. what do they sound like? I don't want to spoil the experience by listening to them yet. I should also note that those tracks are not the ones Orbit has worked on.

Um you do realize her latest world tour is already selling out and is well on the way to breaking grossing records - again, right?

I guess Madonna doesn't really care about dominating radio anymore because, hello why work your ass off to sell albums and singles in this economy when you can just go on tour and rake in like over 100 million for yourself?

I'm not impressed by this song at all but Madonna has NOTHING to prove anymore. She is the most successful solo artist on Billboard ever and she is recognized as the world's top selling female recording artist of all time by the Guinness World Records.

I'd like to see GaGa even be invited to perform on the Superbowl 30+ years into her career.

For me, GaGa's shock value died off with her latest album. The first single did really well and the album's first week was okay, but after that she just vanished from radio. She was spanked pretty hard by Katy Perry, Adele & Rihanna in terms of chart dominance last year.

And what does that prove exactly? That her music isn't mediocre? Address my points please.

I guess Madonna doesn't really care about dominating radio anymore because, hello why work your ass off to sell albums and singles in this economy when you can just go on tour and rake in like over 100 million for yourself?
And where did I even address this topic? Her popularity isn't what it used to be, especially since there are plenty of newer and better artists out there... like Lady Gaga (who sells out every show almost instantly).

I'd like to see GaGa even be invited to perform on the Superbowl 30+ years into her career.
So the superbowl is everything in determining an artist's popularity? Wow. I didn't suspect that one.

For me, GaGa's shock value died off with her latest album. The first single did really well and the album's first week was okay, but after that she just vanished from radio. She was spanked pretty hard by Katy Perry, Adele & Rihanna in terms of chart dominance last year.
The album actually did extremely well and her songs are still very much on the radio. Katy Perry has vanished actually. Rihanna? Can't even sell concerts... she cancelled some of her shows. Fact check please. And Katy Perry is just a Lady Gaga knock-off who tries way too hard.

    Some people grab on straws...

I didn't even bring up Lady Gaga in my post... but I guess straws are all one can grab... when Gaga's Born this Way album already has reached platinum (by several times) in many countries, including the United States and 8 million copies world wide. Katy Perry didn't come close to that. And Rihanna's last album was a flop.

But hey... keep attacking an artist that isn't even one of my favorites... as if that proves anything to me.

Sorry but Adele and Katy Perry out sold lady caca. Cacas singles were pretty much fails sales wise. Katy Perry tied with Michael jasckson for the most number one singles from an album.

I'd also love to see the op's photo sometime.

The records she set in the last few years says otherwise. First Halftime show that was more popular than the Super Bowl itself. Most popular Halftime show period. Most Tweeted and Googled music artist per second. Highest grossing single act tour. Highest grossing pop tour.

I'm just repeating myself now. I don't know why I waste my time.

Who cares? It is one show that is quickly forgotten. But hey I'm not quite a Gaga fan, so I Don't quite understand why people are attacking her as if to prove something to me. LOL. I don

For one Katy Perry's last album was about 3 million short to outsell Gaga... these are the real facts.

Sheesh... I don't get this whole Madonna v Gaga competition... what's the point? What is it going to prove? I don't get those die hard fans on either side of this argument.

I think both have their merits and are talented... but...

Personally I think there is some great music out there blows both out of the water... but that is my own personal taste. You want to know what I like? Take a look in the "What am I listening to now" thread.

Maybe because you're relatively uneducated? It actually sounds similar to either methylenedioxymethamphetamine or deoxyribonucleic acid.

These old farts blasted all of them out of the water lol... with the $500+ million they made on their last tour. And they are approaching 70 lol.

Funny if these guys start a new tour they always sell every show completely... only U2 made more...

So as long as we rest on records... lol...

Records and quantity doesn't indicate quality... the Stones are still a great band... but it's inappropriate to use popularity as a sole indicator of greatness.

A lot of what I listen to is only popular among those who speak Spanish... and particularly in certain areas (Florida, Puerto Rico, Latin America). Will I just tune in to Madonna because she broke some records during a half time show? No. I'm not a fan of her music.

    I don't get it either.
