Sorry Madonna, loved your old stuff. And some of your last stuff.
You look f***ing fantastic, you're the same age as me.
Don't like this though. As if you'll care. You're trying a bit too hard to be 'new'.

yeah over the years her style, at 1st she was a stud and then became more "Barbie" like and now she has multi-personalities O.o

Honestly, I don't know what attracts me to her when I'm not even a fan of rap or hip hop, but she does have some good ballads

I really dont feel her groove right now. Her baby voice best delivered from late 80's to early 90's. That's it.

Her singing style irritates me, the way she hang on comfort mediocre mezzo-soprano vibrate.

The good thing about her that she's self-reinvention, sometimes right on (ray of light, hung up, bedtime story, frozen, nothing really matters...)
sometimes off like her whole hard candy album and the latest one

    character wise: very typical diva.

Re: The New Madonna song is Horrible

The cheering in the song is annoying, the melody also is irritating. I kept watching the video over and over to figure out if it meant anything. I had a few theories, but in the end, I don't think there's much there. I, too, have liked some of her music throughout the years. The Confessions album was good, better than Hard Candy, IMO. I probably liked Ray of Light the best.

    David Furnish, is that you?

Are you part of some annoying anti-Madonna army?

Why focus on her lip-syncing and not her performance artistry? She's an entertainer... not a vocalist. Everyone knows that.

A lot of artists lip sync. And a lot of people believe Whitney lipped her National Anthem performance.

    Re: Madonna Superbowl Performance Thread

Well done... interesting lighting, graphics and effects... lighting at the beginning of "Like a Prayer" was beautiful... talented dancers throughout, interesting dance moves, although Madonna herself seemed very stiff... obviously very well-rehearsed... good song choices... nice little bit parts of songs given to other singers for a few seconds here and there... no boring sections... but she lip synched the whole thing except the last song, I think... and they never once showed her close up. But overall it was good, much better than last year's Black Eyed Peas show, and the best halftime show since Prince a few years back. She still puts on a good show.

    Re: Holy lip sync

I thought she was very entertaining and by far the best Super Bowl half-time act I've seen.

I thought that maybe she was singing live part of the time and lip-syncing the rest. I am sure of the latter—not so much of the former—but it doesn't really matter. What annoys me more is when people say they don't lip sync and obviously do.

But I have to think even something beyond lip-synching was going on tonight. Usually the acoustics are terrible for the half-time shows, and tonight the show was visually and audio-wise great. Sometimes it almost appeared visually hyper-realistic. There was something going on, but I can't put my finger on it. It leaves me wondering what it sounded and looked like in person because on TV it was crystal clear, which is unusual for a live peformance, lip-synced or not.

Anyhow, it was by far the best entertainment of my night.

The halftime is all about being entertaining.
Live singing is great but no one wants someone standing perfectly still and singing for a halftime show.
If Madonna were a frequent lipsyncher the way Britney is, then okay, fire away those criticisms. But she isn't.
and Madonna doesn't have great vocals but can anyone deny that she knows how to put on an amazing spectacle? How many vocalists, past or present, have been able to dance their asses off while singing perfectly? Madonna knows her limits and lipsynching was by no means a bad idea today.

I'm by no means a Madonna stan. and really I do long for the days when pop stars had vocals like Whitney or Mariah in their prime. but there is in fact a place and time for lip synching and this was one of them.

Madonna at the Super Bowl review: A shockingly sincere, joyous performance.

Madonna was careful, in interviews before the Super Bowl, to say how nervous she was, how no one had to worry about her plotting to incite controversy. But instead of resulting in a cautious, tedious performance, Madonna gave a joyous, unironic, open-hearted one. She deployed guest stars including Cee Lo Green, Nicki Minaj, and M.I.A., but they never stole her glowing spotlight. From her entrance hoisted aloft by Roman-soldier dancers to the massed choir that sent her off, she was both in full command and full of generosity toward her massive audience.

Commencing with a rendition of “Vogue” that used the magazine’s logo as part of the stage set, Madonna offered full-throated vocals coupled with tight choreography. If the visual transitions didn’t have any flow (Roman togas to pulsating stadium-seating steps to space for a tight-rope walker), the songs did. After the cool warm-up of “Vogue,” Madonna moved smoothly into “Music.” There was certain mashing-up of music with LMFAO that didn’t add much to the proceedings. She led into her current single, “Give Me All Your Luvin’,” as a sweet piece of Katy Perry-style pop. It’s not among her best songs, but Madonna rendered the tune with a playful vigor, shaking gold pom-poms with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. Toward the end of the song, a marching band trooped onstage, led by Cee Lo Green as drum major.

Aiming to end on a note of uplift, Madonna and Green donned choir robes and brought forth a large choir for “Like A Prayer.” Singing from a raised platform, Madonna and Green’s voices soared, and just when I thought she was going to ascend to the heavens, she instead descended into… well, not hell — that would have been out of keeping with the mood of this show — but she dropped away in a puff of smoke.

I enjoyed it immensely, she doesnt always sing live and I get that, and at 53 she moves better than most people half her age. Im getting a sense that she was doomed with a lot of people before she even performed. Hating just to hate. I get that shes not everyones cup of tea. But to tell me the whole thing sucked because she lip synched the songs is not a great argument to me. She put on a great halftime show. She does sing at her concerts(at least half the songs) which I am hopeful to get a ticket for when she tours again, as I have never been to a Madonna show. I would definitely say that despite being a fan, if I thought she sucked Id honestly say it. I thought she did well. Crowd seemed to like it

You can't move around like that and sign live as well. Besides, it seems as though most the vocals were pre-recorded just for that show. Good enough for me. Actually, it was more than good enough for me. I thought it was phenomenal.

Madonna Lights Up the Super Bowl

Eli Manning and Tom Brady may know their way around the football field, but Sunday night, New England Patriots and New York Giants fans could take a break from taking sides to root for the queen of the (ever intricate) stage: Go Madonna!

The Super Bowl halftime show kicked off with a royal welcome as an army of gladiators escorted the veteran performer onto Indianapolis's Lucas Oil Stadium stage. With a diamond-studded gold crown, Madonna, 53, launched into her hit "Vogue" as the stage flashed covers of the iconic fashion magazine.

Next on the set list: her 2000 dance jam "Music." Joining her on the stage were the guys behind LMFAO – Stefan (Redfoo) and Skyler (SkyBlu) Gordy – who teamed with Madonna to sing samples from their hits, "Party Rock Anthem" and "Sexy and I Know It."

With a stage that was as flashy and glittering as her dance moves, Madonna then performed her new single, "Give Me All Your Luvin," with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. – in full-on cheerleading uniforms – who are also featured on the song. (M.I.A. also gave the finger during her solo, an act that eluded the NBC censors.

But the finale of the 12-minute performance was classic Madonna. With a hand from Cee Lo Green, she swapped her gladiator queen assemble for a glittering black robe to sing her 1989 hit, "Like a Prayer" (which she opened with samplings of "Open Your Heart" and "Express Yourself.").

Backed by a gospel choir, the fiery performance ended with a true sizzle: The stage burst into a cloud of smoke as the singer belted out the final note out of sight.

The final message of the show – "World Peace" – was illuminated on the stage.

    Lights Up the Super Bowl

(M.I.A. also gave the finger during her solo, an act that eluded the NBC censors.)

The final message of the show – "World Peace" – was illuminated on the stage

    ^I fully agree with EW.

I thought her halftime show performance was a well executed spectacle from start to finish. I totally wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did tonight. All the ingredients were there for this to be a massive fail -- all of the guest performers, luke warm 1st single choice, Cirque du Soleil, etc -- yet Madonna managed to pull it all together. Good for her.
