"Spotlight" from You Can Dance
"Little Star" from Ray of Light
"Dear Jessie" from Like a Prayer (I don't think this one was releasedas a single here in the USA)

"Angel" was a single. It got to #5 in America. The B-side, in fact, was the only place to get "Into the Groove" for some time...
Generally, Madonna's best moments are her singles. Of the non-singles, I like:
"Over and Over" (from Like a Virgin)
"Love Song" (from Like a Prayer) - thought I was the only one who liked it.
"Time Stood Still" (from the Next Best Thing soundtrack)
But my favorite is probably:
"Gambler" (from the Vision Quest soundtrack)

Not sure I've heard "Holyday"![]()
I had to vote for "Like A Virgin." It is still my No. 1 favorite Madonna song and here's a bit of trivia I just found out this week:
"Virgin," written by Billy Steinberg & Tom Kelly, was actually written specifically for a male singer but it wound up in Madonna's hands and she made it a pop classic.

"Crazy for You"
Hard to choose - but picked like a prayer
Of these choices, Ray of Light and Into the Groove.

Interestingly Material Girl is not up there. But I'll go for the one that pushed Madonna to the peak - Like A Virgin!!!!!!!!!!
Hey! Touched for the very first time...
Sorry...but it's Holiday for me...hands down.
Vogue with Into The Groove coming in at a close second...
Though not a "classic" I would have liked to have seen Human Nature up there...
Somebody alert the authorities...I got criminal intent.
who is Madonna? She's not famous here in Europe.
Wow, bokan800 you must live in a repressed small village in Europe ...
Because Madonna has had 60 top 10 hits in this European country they call Great Britain.![]()
That's actually 24 more top 10 hits than she's had over here in her native country, the United States.

All of the above!
You're not totally right, the music and production (whole album except "into the groove") was made by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards, who created lots, and lots of hits in late 70's and early 80's.
They had a band named Chic which scored many hits in late disco era. They also produced for: David Bowie (let's dance), Duran Duran (the reflex), Diana Ross (Upside down, i'm coming out, etc.), Sister Sledge (We're family, the greatest dancer, etc.) and others.
Like a virgin is Madonna's top selling record and single.
Bernard Edwards passed away in 1996. Nile Rodgers tours every once in a while with Chic, and still active. He composed part of the soundtrack for the videogame Halo 2.
Had to go with Vogue, but I love to get up and dance to Ray of Light and Hung Up![]()
I was just wondering what you guys thought of the dancing queen. I personally am a huge fan. I was at the confessions tours, and me and my mother fight regularly about her 'antics' as she puts it. Her singing on the cross, her adopting a baby from Africa, her not letting her children watch television. I think to understand the 'Live to tell' segment you need to see the entire segment. not what NBC showed .. which wasn't the full clip. The stories of her dances are amazing ... and it makes you think ... it had a big impact on me... i was just curious of what you guys thought ... what did are your thoughts on that 'stunt![]()
She has you posting about her. I think that means her actions are having the desired effect.

Blah, blah, blahh, wish she would just go away.
I've seen Madonna performe live seven times. She's an amazing performer, a supporter of the gay community and various charitable causes. She's an inspiration to millions of people. Many things have changed through out the years but one thing remains, my love for Madonna.
I used to be a fan but went off her thanks to her "gay" album (Confessions...). Why did she have to release an album for her gay fans? Were all her other albums for her straight fans? Why does she have to stereotype us?
Give yourself over to absolute pleasure and check out http://gaypornfans.blogspot.com.
My thoughts on Madonna? Well, from a musical standpoint, I think she has made some killer music and has some of the best pop songs from the 80s and 90s and I admire her durability, her ability to adapt to the market, and her willingness to re-invent herself and experiment. I think she's a very shrewd businesswoman and I respect the gall she had to take on many controversial issues before it was cool to do so, everything from sex to interracial dating to homosexuality to the Catholic church to feminism to politics and AIDS. She didn't go lightweight like many of today's pop stars. She seemed to have something to say. There was never any doubt that there was a brain under that blonde ponytail and that she was the one guiding her own image, which you can't say for most of today's pop stars. Some of her actions were designed explicity to shock, but there was never the appearance of her really losing control. She never went to rehab and was never seen stumbling drunk out of nightclubs or shaving her head or whatever. I also admire what she's been able to accomplish out of being somewhat plain in the sense that she's not the world's best singer or dancer or the world's best looker; there are countless flaws in all areas, but she's been able to market herself extremely well.
With that all said, while I think she makes good music and puts on a fantastic live show and respect all that she's done, she's not the type of person that I'd ever want to actually hang out with. She comes across as very cold, calculating, rigid, snobby and unlikeable to me. There's nothing really warm and inviting about her. She's always had somewhat of a bitchy diva demeanor to her even in her heyday, sort of as part of her "bad girl" image, but there used to at the very least be an aura of fun around her, but it seems like lately (maybe the past 10 years or so), the fun has disappeared. Perhaps it's age or marriage or motherhood or religion, but whatever it is, it's like some life got sucked out of her. She just doesn't strike me as a very nice or friendly person.
She makes mediocrity into an art form - and I looooooooove her for it!
Like a virgin,
touched for the very first time
YEAH!
I love her........
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness!!!
mmm i voted for ray of light my favorite songs are the power of good bye and frozen
Not a big fan anymore. Her last god album was "Music". And now that she's working with Justin Timberlake...just ugh.
My number 1 BITCH of my life...Love this woman!!!!
Saw her 2nd row NYC June 28...Night of my life....
I don't much enjoy her personality but I do think she's sexy as hell
Love her.
Always curious to see/know what she is going to do next.
mildly entertaining.
she can't sing, she cant' act, she can't dance.
she's really good at marketing herself anyway and always comes up with something interesting to do. (unless you see her movies which are only interesting in how anyone could have come up with such crap.)
I find a few songs really fun to hear, but I'm seldom able to make it through a whole album.
Gentlemen.... Thank you.
Yes, i agree she is not an outstanding singer and her voice is not particular good for singin, however sing means that the person in fact can perform the requested notes/key, so she can sing (listen to her fist allbum on vinyl, you can notice that parts of the voice track on cd version was recorded again due to an improved singing).
She's an awful actess. But well that's not her career.
What i really admire is that she did something no other pop artist has made, and she made it big!. She moved from be a poor pop singer (when they are just puppets and are told what to sing and how, what to wear, what to do) to the other side, where she can do whatever she wants, and at the same time she became a successful buisness woman.
I compare she with movie directors. A successful director normally doesn't know nothing about how to create a visual effect, chemicals used in film develop process, lasser negative printing or how to make a panning sound in the thx editing room, but he knows what he wants and how to choose the apropiate team and how to put all the elemnts together to make it work. Madonna does the same, and that is a talent hard to find.
She is unparalleled in the history of showbiz. The greatest entertainer to ever walk the face of the Earth. An inarguable fact. Nuff said. Close thread.
OMG I absolutely love her! Gettogether19, i was at that concert in NYC as well! I flew all the way from california to go watch her in NYC! haha
love love her
I thought of being unkind and just describing her as a "talentless media whore" - but, in all honesty that's probably a little unkind and not totally accurate.
I think the second part of onetimething's post above probably summed it up fairly well.
I have never been a fan of hers - going back to the early days, I always liked Cyndi Lauper - and found Madonna "ordinary" at best. I haven't changed my opinion...
The biggest star of all times.
I venerate her.Attachment 167677
I'm a HUGE Madonna fan! I absolutely love her and everything she does. I must of watche dthe confessions tour about 10 times, lol.
I listen to her music everyday too!
MADONNA!!! <3
I like Madonna and her music, but im SO SICK of her fans acting like she's a god.
Everytime I watch a video on youtube by another popular female arist (Mariah, Whtney, and Janet), Madonna fans come on tocomment and start dissing them because th haven't sold as much, and ha as muc impact as Madonna, and I think that's stupid and immature.
It's totally fine if you love Madonna, but some of her 'worshippers' need to get a clue.
Holiday.
I don't consider "Hung Up" in any way, shape or form. I don't care how much it sold. It's not in the league as the other songs.
Hung Up. It's the strongest song on that list.
Live To Tell - I like her ballads.
