    start a new thread, and scroll down and tick the "yes, post a poll with this thread" checkbox

    I did. If I put nothing in it says:

    1. Please complete both the subject and message fields.

    2. The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters.

    If I fill out the subject and message fields, the preview shows an ordinary post and nothing like a poll, no options or choices..

    I won't "submit" that because it looks like a failed poll, a botched effort.

    Really, I did this in the past and it worked!

    yes, what you did in the past is to hit "submit" WITH a text and a title.
