Looks like it, both sparrows and doves are ground feeder birds.

Good morning dynk. I would say it is a dove. Most of mine are white wing but many are plain.

Day before yesterday a flock of black birds decended upon my feeding doves and quail and there was a big rukus. They did not return yesterday.

They are mourning doves, found that out and their wings have a whistle to them.

Good mid day, dynk. Enjoyed a sleep in today.

Yesterday a dove flew into the sliding glass door. He sat on the ground for some time, but finally flew away. Must had a major headache.

We get the birds on our back porch sometimes. None have run into windows yet though.

The birds do that here also, they fly into the window, lie there for a while and if the cat does not get them, they fly away

The doves have taken up napping on my porch in the afternoon. Good thing they don't poop like pigeons.

I hate pigeons and discourage them all I can.

It was an American Icon, I guess.

Maybe he saw the movie where they (Billy Crystal?) was on the Staten Island Ferry and said if he put a Twinkie on the railing, it would still be there 50,000 years from now due to the preservatives, while the rest of the ferry would be rotted away.
Something like that.
