    Man Boob Problem

My boyfriend has large man boobs and are sick of them. Does anyone know a workout that he can do to remove them without medication?

    fitness first.

If he is fit, man boobs won't be a problem me thinks.

    Re: Man Boob Problem

In short, man boobs can be caused by genetic pre-disposition, as well as certain illnesses, chemicals, and medications. Problems with the endocrine system - particularly testosterone and estrogen imbalances in men are a more common cause.

Being overweight or fit might make the problem somewhat better or worse, but depending on the cause of the problem and the severity, no amount of working out or fitness will make man-boobs go away. I can point to an example of a young black athlete on my triathlon team who has an incredible, lean, fit, beautiful body, as well as pronounced man-boobs. Man boobs are made of actual breast tissue - not fat.

If he's serious, your friend should consider seeing a doctor to make sure he's not suffering from any illnesses, hormone imbalances, or exposure to something (medication, other environmental exposure such as touching or eating something), and see if the problem can be treated medically. If not, or if the problem is genetic, then cosmetic surgery is probably the only solution.

    Re: Man Boob Problem

Is your boyfriend overweight or is otherwise in shape/lean?

The key as Hotswimmr indicates is that there is a difference between fat and male breast tissue.

Fat can be worked off- just as any fat stored in deposits on the body can be consumed with diet and exercise. But this pattern is usually seen in guys who are obese with fat deposited around the chest, back, midsection and buttocks.

Male breast tissue is very difficult to get rid of without medication or surgery. These guys are generally lean and in shape and are not overweight. The breast tissue is generally under the nipple, firm and very fibrous- much like the same type of breast tissue in women.

There is an increase in men who have enlarged male breast tissue but are otherwise in good shape. We're not sure whether it is because of exposure to medications or chemicals in the environment that trigger enlargement and growth of the tissue.

    Re: Man Boob Problem

I've been fat and had tits all my life, and until recently I've been mortified of them. The one time I lost most of the weight, however, they went away fairly quickly. To my knowlege, there is no exercise for spot reduction anywhere in the body. If he has little body fat anywhere else, you may have no choice but to consider a plastic surgeon, unless it happens to be a hormone problem, as was suggested above. Good luck to you both.

Try exercises that are similiar to boxing.

Stand still legs apart, twist body so that right fist punches the air to the left, then left fist punches air to the right. Do it 50 times. Every day. A few months time there wll be a difference. x

Or alternatively look it up on fitness websites.

    2 types of manboob

1.pseudogynecomastia or fakemanboob- this is if it is just fat that accumulated in his chest area, can be managed with cardio workouts.
    2. gynecomastia or the real manboob- caused by increase growth of the breast tissue not fat so it needs surgery

    Re: Man Boob Problem

This past summer, I underwent surgery for male breast reduction, also known as gynecomastia. In short, the procedure exceeded my expectations and, as trite as this may sound, changed my life.

I'm currently 24 years of age and have felt self-conscious with regard to my "man boobs" since the age of 15. Like some comments have suggested, I assumed a regimented diet and workout routine would reduce their size; it didn't. I'm 5'11" and, prior to surgery, held a weight just under 120lbs. Skinny all over with the exception of my chest. No matter the amount of cardio or chest exercise, the excess breast tissue and bulbous gland immediately under the nipple - which gives the nipples a puffed appearance - failed to shrink in size.

Anyhow, researched cosmetic surgeons in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and was able to find many without difficulty. Prices varied from $4,000 - $8,000 dependent upon factors which included whether the procedure would be performed in the doctor's office or at a hospital, the level of tissue/fat to be removed, etc. In all, the hospital, surgeons fee, anesthesiologist, prescription meds, my procedure totaled right around $8,000. It's an elective procedure, so of course insurance won't cover a dime. Both unfortunate and totally expected. With regard to recovery, had surgery on a Friday, stayed in bed through the weekend and moving around by Monday. For two months couldn't lift over 5lbs (or a gallon of milk), abstained from workouts (including cardio), and had to wear both a compression bandage and vest 24/7. Sounds restrictive but wasn't too terrible.

I realize my babbling seems to go on and on, but it's my total support and general advocacy for this surgery that spurs me on. Wish I had gone through with this years ago.

In short, which this comment isn't, if you work out, have a regular/thin build and can't seem to drop the boobage, well then it's there to stay. Save up and look into surgery.

And as a side note, I'm well versed in any and all workout routine that promises to remove man boobs. All failed to make any visible change and, in fact, some only increased their prominence with the resultant added chest muscle mass. There is apparently some herbal supplements out there which are of course garbage. Totally sucks, but surgical intevention truely seems to be the only solution.

    Re: Man Boob Problem

I have had puffy nipples just for a year and I'm 27. I wonder if it was the Purple K/K Pro creatine shit I took (it was just one bottle) cuz that's pretty much when I noticed my abnormally looking nipples that stick out half an inch at least when soft. I'm still working out and trying to eat well. They just don't seem to fade away! It's summer again nowadays I get really self conscious when wearing a tee. I'm still wondering what this is and if surgery is the last resort.

    Re: Man Boob Problem

I am planning to get breast reduction surgery soon too. Too long have I covered myself up, too embarrassed to go shirtless and enjoy life without being complete self-conscious of my protruding nipples under my shirt. In terms of fashion, I always have to double check what I'm wearing and refrain from wearing certain items of clothing ie. light coloured loose shirts

I'm hoping the surgery won't cost too much, looks like it'll be around 5K which isn't that bad. I can't wait to start my life post surgery. I feel like I've been dormant for so long, not dating, being in a relationship or having sex

    This will end soon

Broadwaybloke, good luck with your surgery! Hopefully you will be satisfied with your results and liberated by the insecurities this issue has caused you. My tip with any cosmetic surgical procedure is to never expect instant, picture perfect result as soon as you wake up from surgery. Naturally we all undergo healing process at different pace. So, expect swelling and redness and all of that stuff to linger, but once the healing process is complete, your results will look great!

Okay so the surgery is all done! Went quicker than I thought. Still a bit drowsy/sleepy but all in all, not a bad experience! The surgeon didn't end up removing the gland tissue which I will query him about in my follow up appt next Monday. From my understanding, the gland tissue is what causes the puffiness which I absolutely hate! He only performed liposuction on my today.

I can't tell much from the compression vest I'm wearing but my chest does look flatter so I can't wait to post some pics later in the week!

So I couldn't wait to update you guys with pics so I've attached Day 1 pics. Although my nips are a bit puffy they're not as bad as before. Also quite a bit of fatty tissue was removed with lipo and I'm quite satisfied with that. See below

Noticeable difference! Did the doc tell you whether fat removal is permanent or there is a chance that there will be fat tissue build up over time again?

Well I've got my 1 week follow up appointment tomorrow and I'll definitely ask the Doc. I really hope it doesn't return because it wasn't a cheap surgery plus the hassle of doing it again!

    I've attached post-op week 1 pics below
