I'm using Firefox with Adblock Plus, but right now I have a "click here" Flash banner in the top right of the board pages.
When I hover over it, it disappears, but then I can't select any text on the page or textbox anymore with the mouse to copy & paste it.
I guess the bug happens because of Adblock and it's annoying. Anyone else got that problem?

solution: disable adblock and finally give that website that you are visiting for almost 6 years some support.

I also find it causes hangups on the page. I can work around it, but it's tedious to have to. Being so close to the scroll bar, I also end up opening the ad when I'm just trying to scroll.
Plus, when I wondered about becoming a supporter, I first thought to click on Help to find the info. The new "click here" covers the help link and makes it impossible to access help that way. I figured out another way, but that was inconvenient.
And sorry, money went to the Matthew Shepard drive instead. Can't do it all.

The first three words would have been adequate. You of all people should know that these are open forums and those who can do support the site when they can. Those who can't shouldn't be told to give support simply because they have been visiting the site for whatever you consider to be too long without doing so. This is a safe house for lots of young people who need us, and if they can't support the site for whatever personal reasons they may have, it is up to us to welcome them anyway, not embarrass them in front of the whole forum audience.

Re: "click here" banner causes bug
no mister, you got that wrong.
this website IS free. it IS free because it runs ads. if you are not becoming a supporter you are as welcome here as anyone else. because you support this website through the ads that get displayed.
surfing this website with adblock disabled (or without adblock) does NOT cost you any money, but makes you support the website. for free. without the need to open your wallet or to do anything else.
if you come here with adblock enabled, you are actively doing something to take money from jub. money that is needed to keep this forum free. and then you come here and complain that your adblocking software is not working properly with our ads? do you really think that is adequate?

Re: "click here" banner causes bug
How would I know if I have something like Adblock? I'm just wondering if something could be there causing hangups without me adding it. I'm using SeaMonkey. This corner thing is the first ad I've noticed that affects performance. I can regain the use of the links by putting the cursor over the ad in the corner briefly. It slows me down only a little.

usually browsers just have popup blockers .. and so does seamonkey. adblock is an additional addon that you have to install manually. you should know if you did install it.
the peel over ad is flash, if you are surfing on a netbook or a mobile device this might affect the performance ..

Re: "click here" banner causes bug
It causes hangups on a desktop with no extra ad-blocking software installed. The links such as "thread tools" and "search" become disabled until I at least put my cursor over the ad. It seems to happen randomly after being on the site for a short time. There could be a pattern I haven't noticed. Interfering with the scroll button and hiding the help link are also minor issues. All of these can be worked around, but this is usually intrusive for an ad on a site of this caliber.

is your flash and seamonkey up2date? i just logged in with FF 3.6.1 and a user who sees the ad, and couldn't reproduce the problem.

Re: "click here" banner causes bug
Everything seems up to date. The problem is intermittent and tolerable. I'll be interested to learn if anyone else has this.
Thanks for the help.
EDIT: The site seems noticeably slower overall since the new ad. It could be unrelated.
