My uninformed theory is they have limited 'shelf-life'. Gay porn - especially vintage - was mostly obsessed with youth and 'twinks' so there is a very short time between 'legal age' and 'over the hill'. I imagine most of them started in their early-to-mid 20's so after a couple of years, the studio would quickly dump them for the next lot of boys.....

I also imagine that some of them got so fucked up on drugs that some studios wouldn't - or maybe even couldn't - use them.

Some have stated that Ted was arrested in the early 90's in NYC for murdering a man he had dinner with one evening and the man was murdered later that night.
