Good, if somewhat overlong. Kudos for showing Hermione's scene right at the start. Smart move.

Audrey Tautou is always a charm to watch but the movie was rather flat.

Excellent movie! Jennifer Lawrence and the actor who plays her uncle give Oscar worthy performances.

I got the Israeli film Jellyfish from the library a couple of weeks ago, finally getting around to watching it the
day before it was due. Three (loosely) inter-related plotlines, including a lesbian one. Not a tremendous film,
but great if you're looking for something quick and quirky (it's just over an hour).
P S: the male lead in one of the stories (newlywed husband) is kinda cute.

I got a bit teary at the end. Anything about the struggling children of dead parents does this to me. Even Harry Potter for fucks sake. *sigh*
Amy Adams is just so perfect in everything. I'm a bit sad the sister didn't get it on with Chloe from 24.

easy a: it doesnt go as far as it should and could have, but its got its heart in the right place. stanley tucci and patricia clarkson are hilarious as the protagonists bohemian parents.

welcome to the dollhouse: man, that movie goes to some dark places. its a refreshing antidote to the romanticised, often sickeningly sweet and glossy depictions of adolescence that hollywood usually offers. but on its own, its a little too formless and miserable for my taste.

i was thinking... hes a little too young to be seriously lusted after, but hes gonna grow up to be a fine man... a quick google/imdb search reveals him to be kinda average looking these days, though.

watched despicable me because of a favourable review and because it has a premise with potential. what a disappointment. the animation is nice, and the story could be worse, but its still disjointed, cloying, predictable, mediocre, and all-around boring. in fact i got so bored, i didnt even watch til the end.

Tron, and it was fucking horrible. I was a big fan of the original and I was so excited, been waiting for months, and even took a cab to the theater ($$!) because it was raining and I couldn't bike there and I just had to fucking see it. Fie on you Disney.

I watched that a few nights ago. Much better than I expected. It wasn't over Disney-fied and stayed mostly true to book. Carey was a great Scrooge and didn't get inappropriately goofy like I thought he would. Zemekis's motion capture lended itself well to achieve a dream-like state.
The last movie I saw was Robin Hood last night. Very boring and disappointing for a Ridley Scott directed movie. Russel Crowe played himself rather than Robin. And poor Cate Blanchet's talent was wasted.

I think "Ninja108" was referring to the 1983 cartoon version that Disney did which featured Mickey mouse as "Bob Cratchit".

Re: the last film you watched thread
Black Swan- It got a bit ridiculous and unconvincing towards the end (not on account of its cast), but all that was soon forgotten after the black swan emerges. Overall it was a thrilling emotional trip through the tortured mind of a dedicated artist. Not only Darren Aronofsky's best film, but Natalie Portman is SENSATIONAL. I can't recall a better or more inspired performance in a long time. She will be winning every award there is.
The Fantastic Mr. Fox- Wes Anderson's style suits this stop-motion family film wonderfully. The characters and voice performances were all great as well. It's worth watching for the labored-over art and character design alone.
